I thought I'd make a little discussion, especially for those who do avatar art on Gaia.
Where do you draw no pun intended the limit on avatars? For example, would you draw mine? If paid more, would you draw a really bad/cluttered avatar?
Are there certain items you detest drawing?
For me, it's got to be buckies. They look awful with my style and I just hatehatehate drawing them. I'm also not a fan of drawing plushies, like Kikis and Cocos. Just because when they first came out, every single person who commissioned me was wearing one. D":
What are your favourite Gaian items to draw?

D": What are your favourite Gaian items to draw? right now i don't think i have much of a limit on what i'd draw for avatars. cluttered ones can be fun but if i were to draw something like that i'd definitely experiment with looks and styles. i may omit certain things if i didn't think they'd go very well but for the most part i try and keep most of the items if that's what they want. for the gaia avatar sets i did i got really tired of the loli hairstyle and the plushies. glasses were also on the list and after a while i started branching out in putting them in different areas rather than just the face. the kitty plushes were fun, i could really go to town with colors on them, but i didn't really like the mochi puppy. as for favorites, i don't really have a preference. although i totally dig the less is more approach. i can have a lot more fun with gestures and poses with items are limited. but when there's more i can also make it fun by trying a new approach to the same boring items. if i were commissed to draw an avatar similar to yours, i'd seriously attempt to draw it. i could have a lot of fun with the smoke and the jewelry.

Usually I try to incorporate most items, but I tend to change them around a little bit.
Like if people use the shoulderpads, I might turn them into large puffy sleeves or if it's just a large clutter of items i try ot make sense of it and make it a little more elegant.
buckies arent elegant, I dislike them a lot. It's really hard to make them look decent and not really dumb. I tend to leave off excessive head items, or head items I dont like much.
I would totally draw your avatar or I would try, haha

Yeah Yeah, for some reason I didn't think of it that way when I made the thread. XD I could see doing mine as a big rainbow blur with a few details. Yeah, it wouldn't be too hard. :3

I prefer cluttered avatars over boring ones - I hate avatars that don't have any mojo. It's really hard to make an interesting picture out of some generic kid.

I usually don't draw cluttered avatars because they piss me off and don't appeal to me (I think they're tasteless, for the most part). That is, of course, unless it's cluttered and it actually looks good.
For instance, I love weja, but I'd probably never draw weja's avatar.

I wouldn't draw your avatar. I mean, I could... but it's just a mass of random colours. [probably expensive random colours]

I wouldn't draw your avatar for gaia gold, and would probably feel reluctant accepting a RL comission for it.
Like the Iconoclast said, cluttered avatars don't appeal to me as drawing subjects because i don't find them interesting. Most of the cluttered avatars an avatars i see in the forums i moderate (Avatar Talk, Avatar Arena) dont make for interesting subjects because they just pile on items according to size and color.
My definition of clutter doesn't include item heavy avatars that have a sense of character or personality beyond the items.

Roros! I shall not, will not, can not draw Roros... They break my fingers and steal my talent! gonk I tried to do an Avi Art for someone with a Roro and it turned out to be shitsticks, so I got my friend to draw the Roro. Needless to say I HATE ROROS. And the Pettles... You know those rose donation items and the setting with petals. HOT DAMN I HATE IT.
Edit - Right now I'm doing an Avatar for a competition and it's K-LUTTERED. I was considering declining doing it, just because she has about ninety items on at the same time, but I found a way to manage the cluttered-ness. I just made her long and thin, so the items are set further apart. It's still crappy, but atleast I can draw it.
