Forever-Fornever zach61092 bite-me14 zach61092 Alright, we just discussed the issue of Darfur in Global today. And the question he left us with is if the United States should go in and stop the genocide. What's your view on that? Well this is the question of the topic, really. Should the United Sates help? And the answer to that is--of course--yes, but it goes beyond just doing it because its the right thing to do. Honestly, I don't think the U.S has a choice. Once we went in to "help" Iraq, that puts us in the position to help everyone. You can't be selective about who you help, we helped one now we have to "help" all. The problem is, Darfur doesn't have anything to give back. So now we're in a pickle because all the world eyes are on us, and we haven't moved. Actually, most of the world is against the War in Iraq..they want us out.. I'm feeling lucky, old lady! Fortune tapping at my elbow! I don't blame them for wanting us out, we should pull out of Iraq, we seem to have done more damage than anything.
Honestly, the US shouldn't have a choice on whether or not to go into Darfur and help. The US is regarded as one of the best countries in the world, people in other countries dream of coming here for job opportunities and other various reasons. The people in America are probably some of the coldest in the world, we're hostile and think that because we're so great, everyone should learn English. This is only true of some people, mind you, but I think that America needs to step their game up a bit, if things continue the way they are, the US is gunna start getting a bad reputation.
That was me telling you not to be stupid. Americans don't exspect everyone to learn english...Only the ones who live here should learn english. SO what aare you suggesting about darfur then? and by step up you game what do you mean. How?

I mean that the US needs to start worrying about the other countries in the world and how they feel about why we are in their country (if we even are). I think that the US needs to go in and take the people causing the genocide out but not stay there to 'build a mini-US of Africa' unless they want us to. The US needs to send in relief but not try and control another country while the US has problems of it's own.
And about the language issue, it's selfish of the US to want everyone that lives here to learn English. If you go to India or China or Japan, would you feel annoyed if you were expected to learn the language because you're there due to the 'command' of your/a boss to go work there? Personally, I love languages and I would love to go to Japan to work and learn their language. I already plan on learning it anyway. I want to be quad-lingual! English, Spanish, Japanese and Italian. mrgreen

I believe that if someone wants to stay in a country for any amount of time, they should learn the language. But this is no longer about Darfur, lets keep it on topic shall we?
