There was one thing Leon had to admit: fatherhood was embarrassing.
Possessed of more than his fair share of dignity, Leon had gone through life without much incident; Cressida had shielded him from doing embarrassing things like buying women's toiletries and asking for directions, once these things became available. Once becoming a father, though, Leon had had to quickly become used to things that were pretty much the most embarrassing in the world:
1. The changing table in a family-use bathroom.
2. Children yelling obscenities.
3. Naked Annie.
Etc.
When it came to embarrassment vs. dealing with problems - the fact that Annie, when denied the company of other people, and denied other things in general, not being allowed to go and see Walter yet - Leon willingly took embarrassment. Which was why he was phoning up a number his partner had given him without any prior knowledge of the girl on the other end.
Hopefully parenthood could be a shared topic of grief. Especially when Annie was currently situated on his foot. Terror was eating his shoelaces.
Ring, ring. "Can I please speak to, ..." (did Cressida really spell that right?) "... Ms. Koosheeka?"

It was Koosh's first time giving any baby a bath. And boy, was it difficult. Not so much the soaping them up and rinsing them down, but the sabotage in forms of water splashed in the eyes, soap bubbles in the hair, and the ultimate weapon: the jerking hands and feet resulting in the super soaker of destruction.
"Ally!" splash, "hold still!" squeal. Pitch, on the other hand, was stooped on the top of the sink faucet, staring at the liquid like it was going to bite him.
All of a sudden the phone rang.
Staring at her soaked self Koosheeka let it ring once and, upon the second ring, withdrew her soapy forearms and hobbled over to the phone. Placing the phone in the crook of her neck and returning to bathing Ally she responded, "Yep, this is Koosh!"

The splashing noises in the background sounded fairly familiar. "Uh, have I called at a... bad time?" (Of course, Leon's idea of a 'bad bathtime' were the nights when Annie refused to get out. And she didn't like Johnson and Johnson's No Tears getting in her gills.) "I'm... you don't know me but I'm Ms. de Rotrou's partner. Cressida."

Cressida... Cressida.. Cressida, "Cressida!" Declared Koosh recalling the name. Performing a well timed duck she avoided a soapy splash headed straight for her eye. "No, not at all!" Only a little, tiny white lie. "I was hoping to hear from he- you guys soon!" She had to admit, she definitely didn't expect a call from the significant other, but it was a pleasant surprise. "Are you the father of," she adjusted the phone as she turned off the faucet and pulled out a dripping Alouette from the sink and wrapped her in a fluffy pink towel, "Annie?"

"Yeah." There was a shifting noise as the Father Of Annie obviously switched the phone to the other ear. "I know this sounds out of the blue, but... Annie got tickets to go to the petting zoo tomorrow. Everybody's tied up. Not to make you feel like the last resort... but would you and Alouette like to come? It'd be a shame to waste a ticket, and Anemone likes company. She gets on well with little girls," he added hastily, just in case his partner had said anything about her own little girl's temperament.
