This is something that I did for AP art (But I doubt my teacher will take it, since it's so anime... waah)

Anyway, the backdrop was made in a very cost-effecient way, for those who like it-- I drew on tissue paper with water-based (crayola) markers, then layed the tissue paper over wetted watercolor paper and sponged more water overtop. I left it for about 2 days (But you can when it's dry) and then took it off, and I had a pretty backdrop :3

Afterwords, I drew a picture in sepia inspired by one of my classmates, Alexa (http://pockyful-wonders.deviantart.com) over it and shaded with sepia-toned prismacolor markers.

It's huge, so I had to take a picture... a better shot of details can be found here: http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b108/KittyKryspies/lovenokanji.jpg

From the scarf up, it looks professional enough to be from a manga. The border's pretty tidy, and your backgrounds are an economical artists' wet dream. *Grin* The coat looks a tad flatter shading-wise compared to scarf-up, but it's not a big deal.

They're picky about anime? Blech, you'd think it's established itself as a legitimate art form with the amount of influence it has over this generation. Either way, good luck and hope you can still use it.

Wow, thanks for the compliments.. I agree with the whole coat thing, though. It still needs some tidying up.

That's lovely. I especially love the hair!

My AP art teacher says it doesn't matter what it is...as long as it looks good.

If you've established your style as a more manga-based style, then they should accept it. The AP test will...so in the long run, your teacher's opinion isn't worth sh!t. Traditional art is not favored on the AP test.

Very pretty. smile I like everything about it.

I don't see why your teacher wouldn't accept it. Anime is a totally valid style of artwork, even if a little overdone and mainstream.
