I had an idea a long time ago, where Gekko-Go had been defeated in a battle. This is another one of those "what if's". They would have died in the battle where Charles and Ray cornered Gekko-Go with the help of the U.F.. Eureka and Renton would have survived.
Basically what happens is Renton didn't catch Eureka, causing Gekko-Go to buy more time for them. Unfortunately, Gekko-Go couldn't hold out for that long. They take down a good number of the U.F. before blowing up in the sky. Renton saves Eureka, gets really ticked, and fights Charles. Sadly, Ray against the battle with Gekko-Go as well. So Charles is pretty ticked too.
Charles fight Renton, Renton can't handle him and all the forces of the U.F.. Both him and Eureka retreat, and leave the Nirvash in a hiding spot. After that they go and wander the world for awhile. Because of the whole incident, Eureka didn't admit her love for Renton. That carries on for three years until they finally get an idea of what they can do. To avenge the Gekko-State.
Charles has also been hunting Renton down during the three years. No longer on a rampage to seek revenge, but to get Renton to become his son again.
The love between Renton and Eureka was forgotten through all the heart ach. It occasionally started to spark again, but neither actually reacted to it. This story really starts right when they remember how they felt for each other. Still it only being the two of them.
I think this would be an interesting fic. It would be a little depressing, especially with Gekko-State dead. Surprisingly, I got the idea from my sig picture bellow.

I've actually seriously thought about it. But I'm already writing another fic of Eureka seven. I got a bad feeling that I would start to mix the emotions of the characters if I tried writing two.

Dude. idk if renton would be able to contain himself from professing his love. The episodes leading up to that seemed to help renton open his eyes to how he felt in a whole new way. See where i am coming from. but then again i could see your way bein right if renton kept bein a total idiot and not getting girls at all.

Well you also got to understand all that he just lost... Gekko-State entirely! Eureka would be devastated, and he would probably loose the motive to tell her how he feels by seeing that. She might even build some kind of wall and wouldn't let him in.
Three years, on huge incident, so many possibilities.
