Eragon was an okay book but it lacked in more ways then one. Though Christopher Paolini took lots of ideas from... everyone, he is still good at displaying his plagiarism. It took me a while to get through Eldest because I kept losing interest.
I learned from a book, that I don't remember the name of or author, that some people tend to write towards the storylines of their favorite authors and that writing in that way is good for practice, but not for publishing.

When a movie is released based off of a bok, you can expect that some parts that are hopefully minor, will be deleted because there is only so much you can put into a 2 hour movie. But movie-makers shouldn't be creating stuff to add into that wasn't even in the book. The movie has so much left out it was rediculous! Even my mom, who hasn't read the book, thought that it seemed as if they rushed through the making of it. I won't go into all the wrongs that were found throughout the movie, but I will say it was completely horrendous. It seemed to me like the writers had skimmed the book and then decided to make a movie off the top of their heads. Thank Gods for a great imagination along with the wonderful books!

Unfortunately, what's his face, a.k.a Satan-I mean Christopher Paulini, cannot write. He scrapped his novel from the bile of others, then begged and pleaded for his parents to publish his book. Due to the popularity by morons everywhere, a bigger publisher picked it up, to get a piece of the pie, so to speak.
Now, we have a 21 year old Montanan that can't make his own plot becoming a millionare, and with nothing to do with said money, he is undoubtably become a drunk.

I started reading the book, but I stopped and never finished it. It was written by a young author -- and it was rather obvious from the writing quality. The writing style was average at best, the characters were cliche and boring, and the story's plot and concepts were so unoriginal that the book could have been published under the Forgotten Realms name and nobody would have been able to tell the difference.
The movie is an example of production hype at its best. They put out previews with explosions, action, and millions of dollars in special-effects to mask the fact that their product is just a bastardization of an already low-quality piece of work.
And thus ends my rant.

I liked the books a lot, but the movie... Ugh, it was awful!
You know, I've heard so many people complain about the Harry Potter movies and how they don't match up with the books just right, and personally I don't see where they're that bad, but Eragon...? Ye Gods!
After seeing that movie I've sworn that should I ever write a book and someone wants to make a movie out of it - if the director hasn't even read my book, I'll tell 'em "No!". I'd also like to have at least some say in how the movie would be made - not a lot, but at least some. I'd rather have a movie that didn't "sell well" and stuck to the book then have a movie that did "sell well" and butchered my book.

The first book was OK, the second sucked, and I've never seen the movie and don't plan to.
Doesn't this "ancient language" sound suspiciously like Latin to any of you? I mean, "Argent" is silver in Latin, and CP uses "Arget..." Coincidence? I think not! And there's probably some Tolkien elvish in there I haven't caught...
Not legal plagarism, but blatant to most Fantasy readers. Elves and Dwarves? Come on! Make up something on your own!
