Ai ducked his head under one low-hanging rock when they got to the location that had been his destination, checking then to see how Kat was faring, before nudging her towards the base of Pride rock.
"Noooowww..." he thought outloud, looking for a specific marking that had been left amongst many claw-marks. "It.. is... this-one~!" he beamed, motioning to another low-hanging rock, which seemed to boast that the pair would be able to fit underneath it with a bit of a tight-squeeze.
"See.. this opens up on the other side into a sort of den-sized space.." he explained, sitting on the dirt-covered surface which floored most of Pride rock.
"I mean.. if this is a reasonable hiding place..." he added in a flustered manner, looking off to one side. "I understand if it's inconvinient.." he explained, rubbing one paw on his dark leg.
AWWWWKKKKKWWWAAAAAAAARRRRRDDDDD.
"Just.. it's out of the way and stuuuuuuffff..."

Kat peered towards the low hanging rock, indeed there was a space behind it. It looked quite safe, it was hidden away and...was that light inside? Perhaps there was a hole that could keep it slightly lit even during the day. The entrance didn't seem too small either. Since she was so tiny, she could probably fit just fine.
"Its...perfect Ai..." from here she could see a lot, see where the water hole was, and it was hidden. Surely he would find her here, plus, he wouldn't be able to fit inside.
She stopped leaning on him to limp/hobble over to the entrance. She crouched down somewhat, and shuffled herself inside. It was rather large...how did he find such a good place? She looked around, indeed there was a small penetration of light, she could even see some of the sky. She smiled and peered towards the entrance,
"It really is perfect...Ai...come inside...please?"

Ai seemed to react a bit when Kat moved from his side, but made no immediate move to pull her back, allowing her to walk on her own to enter the space he'd discovered in the games of 'hide and seek' as a kid.
Apparently the space was larger than he had estimated it to be since he'd last been there, as Kat fit in without much of a problem. Then again, Ai was probably a bit bigger than she was.
The request for him to join her brought Ai up to his feet again as he walked to the entrance of the space, flopping onto one side and using his legs to shuffle his bulk inside of the space, since it was almost impossible for him to 'crouch' and fit through it without problems. So it was an easier solution.
Sitting up once he'd gone through the space, he sat by Kat's side, resting his head against her's.
"I'm glad you approve."

"It really is perfect..." she said with a smile, purred softly in her throat and nuzzled her head under his chin. Why was she feeling so...liclined to bew tih Ai this moment? To have him never leave, to protect her? It was all new and strange to her, but not strange for her to want it to go away.
She never wanted it to go away.
"Look..." she said, pointing with her paw to where the stones were apart some, a ray of light protruding into the dakr shadows on the den Ai had taken her to. She smiled, softly stated, "I guess, light can come into the dark huh?" she said with a smile and a soft laugh.
She curled up close to him, she was ignoring the pain. She hoped it would be gone later, but she wasn't sure if it would. Things were better though, thats all she knew. The next step she would have to take, is finding the queen, and asking if she could stay.
Kat wanted to stay so badly now.

Ai's attention turned to where Kat's voice directed it with the single word, looking at the single ray of light that found it's way through the darkness in her.. no.. their hiding place. Yes, that would be it.
Smiling a bit, he nodded. "Yeah. You're right." he beamed in agreement, leaning his weight barely against her side in return, his tail wrapping around her side as he did so. Something in his head told him that it seemed familiar to him, like he'd seen it elsewhere...
but since he couldn't but his paw on where he'd seen anybody else sitting like the pair was, Ai wasn't about to worry too much about it.
For now, he'd stay here with her, since she felt safe there.
Pressing his nose to Kat's ear, he whispered; "When you're feeling better, we'll go see Kamilika, alright?" he suggested, smiling a bit, before looking back at the ever-so-entertaining beam of light.
It was strange to him, now when he thought about. His childhood 'hobby' had actually come in use for him. Now all he had to do was figure out what to do with all the other 'spots' he'd found in passing.

Kat rested her head down on her paws, let her eyes close slightly. She was so tired from her travel here, she nodded, and spoke in barely a whisper, "Yes...we will..." she would go, ask, even beg to stay here now. Anywhere else seemed so non existent, she wondered if her parents would be happy she was in a safe place.
She wondered if her sister would think she made the right choice.
Kat thought so.
"I will stay here..." her eyes closed, and it was dark, but she smiled, she was warm, and felt safe. This would be her new home.

Laying down at her side, Ai rested his head against her neck, heaving a bit of a sigh as he did so, before starting to purr, a smile forming on his face.
He listened to her words through her back, closing his eyes as he listened. It would be nice to have a friend at his home with him. Nuzzling the side of his face against her back, he murmured.
"For now, let's get some rest, alright?" he suggested.
There would be no good done in them going to have her join up with their ranks if they both looked like they'd just been trampled/just gone at it/ had just ran from a pack of wildebeasts.
As funny as the looks they would have gotten would have been.
