I am very partial to Macbeth... I decided to do the end battle as a skit in my Shakespeare class with my best friend. Even though I didn't remember half of my lines, I still had a good time. Lady MacBeth had amazing lines also... I should go back and re-read it!!

That is actually a very hard question for me since I am a huge afficionado! Here is a list made from the heart more than from the mind:


  • King Lear - Filled with freudian-like psychology and twists of the mind but fulfilling and powerful
  • Henry V - Makes you want to study that part of England's history! Filled with action and bravura, as well as colorful characters.
  • Hamlet - The classics of classics. Yes it's cliche but I am a sucker for the tried and true wink
  • Tempest - One of my favorite "fairy tales" from the Bard
  • Midsummer's Night Dream - Another great - entertaining and uplifting
  • Othello - I just like the moor!

The name of the Scottish play was said so many times here, I'm not sure I want to post... Ah well, I've already started.

I'm quite partial to the Taming of the Shrew, since it was the first play I ever acted in. However, King Lear and Julius Caesar are also great.

I love Macbeth most of all because of the storyline and the themes behind it...but I also like King Lear because it happens to suit my taste.

All in all though, I think any play by Shakesphere is good.

It would have to be a tie between Hamlet and Macbeth. The latter is the next piece of literature that I'll be doing in class, although I have already read it.

I prefer his tragedies to his comedic pieces, so King Lear and Julius Caesar join the list of ones I like.

I did a Midsummer Night's Dream last year... Never want to do it again. The activities and essays and all the rest kind of ruined it for me.


I absolutely agree, Midsummer Night's Dream was an excellent piece of literature I found, but it was incredibly ruined by the essays, and assignments, it ruined my point of view on the story, and it did indeed ruin the play for me.
Of my favorite(I've done Romeo, and Juliet, Midsummer Night's Dream, Twelfth Night, Macbeth, Julius Caesar, and King Lear) My favorite would have to be, hands down, Julius Caesar. Poor Brutus, he was such a kind, noble man, but evil Cassius(When we did it in class, I played the role of Cassius..hehe) had to ruin his character.

I've read a few of Shakespeare's plays and my all time favorite has to be Julius Caesar.

The other two I really like are Hamlet and Taming of the Shrew. They were pretty cool.

I just really, really liked Julius Caesar. We spent a whole semester of studying it this year in school, and that was just awesome. We acted out the play (each student getting a few scenes so we didn't have to memorize an insane amount of lines) and I was the part of Brutus in a few scenes and I got to do Cassius's dying scene. It was quite funny, because I'm a girl so everything was said extra girly and everyone was laughing. It was kind of an improve acted out thing as well, and I really wish it was taped because it was so great. Anyways, I just like that play as a whole. I prefer tragedies, because I'm not a big fan of romance stories. Anyways, I'm tired of typing. I might say more later if anyone replies smile

My favourites have to be MacBeth and Othello. It's probably because I've done them, but I love the tension. I think both show off the power of language and misconception.

Macbeth was my favorite. We had to memorize that poem for the test...but I like it!

I would have to say Much Ado About Nothing, mostly because it's hilarious. And anybody who gets the joke in the title knows why it's hilarious. xd

I've read a lot of Shakespeare's work, but for whatever reason, I think my two favorite plays are Macbeth and King Lear.

I prefer the tragedies, but I suppose my favorite comedy would be The Tempest.
