Before we begin....NO, these are not martial arts styles nor schools of martial arts.

Kenka Karate Kyokushin Ken(Karate Bull Fighter) and Kenka Karate Kyokushin Buraiken(Karate Bear Fighter) are two movies of a trilogy that are suppose to be about Masatatsu "Mas" Oyama's life(for those of you who are unfamiliar with Mas Oyama, he is the creator of Kyokushinkai Karate). I purchased these two DVDs(with plans to buy the third, later)at Frye's Electronics for $14.99 USD....and I don't regret it one bit.

The first of the trilogy begins with young Oyama(played by Sonny Chiba, a legend in his own right) entering a Karate tournament in tattered rags. He had just got back from intense mountain training and wanted to test his abilities. To make a long story short, he wins the tourney, denounces his trophy and the "current state of karate", goes off and fights some bad guys, rapes a girl who ends up falling in love with him, beats up some black U.S. military boxer guy, beats up a bull, and then...well I don't wanna get to much into detail as it just gets a bit over the top from there.

After that movie, I was stoked to see the second one thinking I was going to get another in depth history lesson about Mas Oyama's life and training. Yeah, I was wrong. The first movie was feasable, even with him being portrayed as a rapist. I had heard of his bull beating feats as well as the story about him working for the widow of a guy he killed(which they portrayed in the first movie), so I thought the second one would be, too. Till he started fighting assasins every 2-3 scenes. Then of course there's the scene where he fights *drum roll* a bear.

After the second movie finished....I was left confused....confused like a platypus. I thought to myself, "Was Oyama really all that hated that people tried to kill him?". So then I read the "LINER NOTES" that were included in the DVD boxes. Apparently, both movies(and I'm assuming the third one as well) were suppose to be based on an over the top COMIC that has Oyama as the main character.....though even the LINER NOTES express confusion regarding the first movie's rape scene....seeing as how Mas Oyama was technical adviser and all.

Anyways, these two movies(and I'm sure the third one as well) are far from biographical, but damn are they entertaining....especially with Sonny Chiba in the mix!

I've never heard of the movie series, ut if it's about Mas Omaya played by THE sonny chiba, then I'll definitely pick it up.

Yes I know about Mas Oyama the Legendary "Godhand" who killed someone with one punch. (He did! the records prove it!) A good website to know more is Fighting master, just google it and it should appear. And also he fought many bulls not just one and killed three instantly. I know it sounds cruel but they let him do it because were going to be slaughtered anyways, though I still find it disheartening he did not do it out of spite or pleasure, he wanted to pit his skill and strength in an ultimate battle involving man against beast.

It was NEVER proven to be one punch. I mean, records prove Rickson Gracie has a 400-0 records. And I believe he admitted to the fact that ALL the bulls he fought were drugged and basically put in a position where as long as you can side step you could probably kill it. Considering they were pretty much dead when he fought them.

Mas Oyama actually disliked Japan for resenting his Korean background. Kinda odd. Same thing with Rikidozan.

Rikidozan is another legend. Albiet a Pro-wrestling legend.

He did knock out Kimura though. Although it was gay how he did it. It was suppose to be 3 matches. end with it 1-1-1. However, Rikidozan did not want to do this and pretty much just kicked kimura in the face with a steel toed boot, after he had hit Kimura on his back, or back of the head (can't remember which) force him to go down halfway. After this, many people did not like rikidozan. Eventually he was stabbed to death by Yakuza after going back on some kinda deal.

all in all. Kimura > all 3 of them.
