While i was going through my old site i found an oekaki i did a few years ago, and i thought i'd redo it.

It's obviously not done, but i thought i'd get a little input. I need to repaint her face, i think. I'm not even sure if anybody will be able to see her face since i'm using an LCD monitor, and it's uncalibrated, so when i use really dark colors i can see them fine but i usually find out later that they're so dark they come out muddled on other monitors. But yeah, any thoughts?

I just got a sweet 19" LCD monitor, so I can see the face! Finally, I can actually see dark pictures... T___T;

I'm quite liking how the fire looks so far. Makes me think "crackly".

The face looks kind of short, but if you can manage to shade it really well to show the perspective, I'm sure it'll turn out fine. But right now it looks short and stubby rather than leaning forward.

I can see the face just fine. biggrin If you're on a mac it helps to use the built in visual calibrator, it'll get you in the ballpark. Not everyone can afford one of those gretag macbeth eye-one's (they start at $250!). I'm not a painter, but the face looks like a mask of an off-black to me.

Are you planning to redo her face as well, or is it done now?

I think her face, hair and glasses are way too smooth to match with the rest of the picture... I dunno. The brushwork could be loosened up a bit more. :3

nice, love the fire there, very dynamic.

I see you have the smoke near the fire illuminated already, but maybe you can take that a step further, and add shading on the bottom of the clouds of smoke, to show more substance, and even more menacing fire.

The figure is pretty good. I was gonna mention a few things about helping her face look tilted down more, mainly making the sunglasses a little more oval, but you did that. Not quite sure why her face look more round than looking down slightly though. Maybe the positioning of a few facial features are throwing it off (If she's not meant to be looking down, I'd bring her eyeline up just a little).

I like the bits of burning burning ember floating around, nice touch.
