I have recently been saved, yet I still have one old habit that I can't seem to get rid of. I cut. I know it's wrong, but it makes me feel better and makes me feel as though all of the problems that lead up to me cutting myself have gone away. It just feel like such a wonderful release from the strains put upon me everyday. So, how do think God feels about this?

God does not want you to harm yourself. if you want relief you should listen to this CD: "History" (the CD), by "Matthew West" there are some very good songs that could help you on it.
The ones i would recomend are: "Nothing Else", "Light of Eternity", and "History".
Your brother in Christ, Matthew
P.S. if you have any questions please PM me and i will try my best to help. I will be back on in a little while.

sure thing, I understand that you must be going through a lot. I'm sorry, i haven't been able to get on often recently. i'm tryng to though. (i should be on plenty on friday-sunday... lol.) I'll look up as much as i can on self inflicted injuries, but truthfully, all i think you need to know is that it is a sin, and every time you do it, your causing that same pain to Christ. actually the pain onto Christ is probably much worse.

also, when you asked Christ into your life, you should realize he has already paid the debt, for all of your sins. all that you have done is in the past, and gone, (it is also forgotten). God forgives and forgets, and if we don't release our pains onto Him as we should, they continue to dwell in us and makes it more difficult for us to live for Him more. "Light of Eternity" is another song on the album "History" that you could listen to that should help. but i'll be sure to look up those verses for you. i hadn't ever thought of looking those up before, and it should really help me for my future, as well, as an evangalist.
Your brother in Christ, Matthew Boyer

But it's an addiction. Just like alcoholism, or being addicted to drugs, cutting is an addiction. I want to get better, but it's my comfort zone. Not exactly easy to give up.

Maybe you should try other things to get you to stop. Like going places with friends or somthing. Trying not going near anything you could use to hurt yourself. When you get the idea to cut yourself imeadly do somthing else to get you mind off it. Start drawing writting or watching tv go on the computer listen to music. Just get the idea away! The first time you sucessfully not cut your self, might feel better then cutting your self.
Yeah, I don't know if that'll work but I though i'd tell you! biggrin

I remember going through that type of thing. Although it was a little bit different. I have been a Christian since I was 15 and it's almost been three years. About a year and a half after I became a Christian, a friend of mine died in a car accident... And I pulled up in my car right after it happened. At first, it just hurt really bad, but then guilt came my way, because if I would've left a minute earlier, it would've been me. I thought for awhile that it should've been me. Then I started smoking again, and cutting (i did both before I was a Christian and had stopped after). But anyways, the addiction that cutting carries with it is hard to overcome, but it is definitely possible to overcome it. It takes a lot, but is well worth it. I used rubber bands to snap on my wrists for while but other than that, I mentally had to get over it first. The power it holds on your mind is strong. Just try to remember though cutting seems to help, it doesn't. It just leaves scars of the pain that you once felt. Cutting isn't the solution... And I really hope that you can overcome this. And remember no problem is to big for God. If you want an accountability partener for this, let me know, and I can try to help and encourage you to stay strong. Well, I hope this helps somehow. Bless God!

Put something in place of it, non-violent, drink orange juice when you get the urge, still harmful but not as bad.
