Lord Thatlatu of the Tofu DancingxMoogleX 1)DDR pwns ITG. DDR is so much better in all aspects. x2.5, x4 If not for those two speed mods, I'd still be trippin' up at 450 bpm. Also, Mellow. AKA one of the greatest songs every made. however StepMania > all Seconded. Where else can you get a fully customizable step game? I will punch the person who says "Dance Factory" to death.

Cant RoXor make better songs then konami? if DDR songs are so much easier then ITG why do you need a bar for PSMO? i really like to make fun of them twisted when newbies play and start saying that im so good and they suck,i say: "back when i just started i was even worse then you are". got several fun memories about playing DDR, dont know where to start

^ Haha I noticed that too. ITG fanboys constantly ragged on DDR because "NAOKI SUX" or "LOL JPOP" or "DIS SHITS 2 EZ". Then R21 came out and the first thing most people did was add DDR simfiles to the machine. lol irony.

Lord Thatlatu of the Tofu Sando Tagashibura The essence of stamina runs just killed me back in the heyday. Back when I when I was first heard of HVAM, I thought I was going to cough up my brains when I played it. Gotta remember, my heyday consisted of easy step charts because that's how it was back then. I remember the day I first cleared that with a D on standard. 2 days after clearing Max 300 with a C on Standard. I played the song, finished with a sliver of life, shouted with joy (it was more like a bark), then fell on the couch and oozed off that onto the ground, which I lay on, breathing heavily for about 8 minutes. It's hard to believe that was only 9 months ago. Anyway, my ADVICE to beginners is this: 1. learn your corner jumps, crossovers, spins, and streams NOW, that way you won't have to worry about learning them when you really need them. I neglected to learn crossovers and spins until November 2006, and it's really held me back on 10's and 11's. 2. Get homeversions an a hard pad. 3. Go for variety; playing the same song 10 times in one day will make people hate you. 4. Use the bar to play out of your regular comfort zone, but don't use it on songs you can clear without. 1.I know what corner jumps are(I think), but what are crossovers, spins and streams? 2.Are hard pads better then the soft pads? 3.I know what you mean. 4. Use the bar? You mean the one at the arcades? How? To help with balence and hold up your weight or something like that?

Star x Apple~ I'm a DDR n00b~
Only been playing about a week and a half. I spend at least eight dollars every day in either DDR or In the Groove ( I seriously love ITG) I can do some of the harder lite songs and a few of the easier standard ones. I'm still on my way ;D
My first problem of course was that I always stepped in the middle. I think everyone has that one. I'm over that now.
Now my problem is just figuring out how to keep a direct rythem, and which feet to use for which move. I'm still in lite mode, but at least on ITG problems come up a lot where I'll use my right foot for something and then realize I should have used both feet instead of just one. Does that make much sense?
Anyways, discuss the problems you had with DDR when you first started. And how you overcame them.
Everyone was a n00b once, and maybe others can learn from your n00b mistakes. My advice is: For rythem and timing I sugest finding a song you like that has a very distinct rythem and listening to it over and over until you know the rythem of that song so well you can drum it out(or something like that) without hearing the song, then find another song you like that has a less distinct rythem and do the same thing, after that, find a song where you can hardly tell what the rythem is and repete. By this time you should be able to find the rythem in any song.

Miakiia 1.I know what corner jumps are(I think), but what are crossovers, spins and streams? 2.Are hard pads better then the soft pads? 3.I know what you mean. 4. Use the bar? You mean the one at the arcades? How? To help with balence and hold up your weight or something like that? 1. Crossover: a pattern like Left, Down, Right, Down, Left, repeat, etc., usually 8th notes. Spin: Pointless unless you're freestyling. Stream: Basically a constant flow of single steps. 2. They're vastly superior in every aspect. 4. Right.

i have been playing for a good long time and i play under expert/challange mode now. when i started out i didnt really have the problem of coming back to the middle it just wasnt something i got into a habit of doing. but i did have trouble staying with the beat and where to put what foot where. i just tried to remember at first to use my right foot for the front and right side arrows only and my left foot for the back and left arrows. and as for the beat u just gotta learn to get into the music.
