Dawn creeps in outside my window
Thoughts turn to the trip back to sanctuary
The collective sigh that will leave the body once there
And the journey to get to that place in between
The sea of steel and plastic creeping through channels
Hanging lights overhead the locks to stem the flow
All waiting their turn in various states
Looking for the open water to carry forth more rapidly
As the sun slides away and sky darken in front
Patience worn from labours performed
Seeking a door walked away from twelve hours past
Finding the relief inside until called upon next
