You always could see through the deepest dark, the under-voice whispered as Anen answered, Follow my voice. I'm here. Come home. Outwardly, something strange began to happen. His outline blurred, because difficult to focus on.

The fates moved back alittle almost alarmed at what is happening, they looked to eachother again then to Anen. "Anen?"
The whisper was heard again, but softer this time "I can't...I can't get to you, I'm stuck.....I can't move.....I'm so cold....."

Where are you? Anen asked in two voices. The thread seemed to exert a steady pull on him. "Dizzy," he breathed. Where are you, Aylana? Where are you?
His outline wavered, blurred, cleared, blurred again. He grasped the thread with another hand. Where was his own thread? He couldn't take his attention off Aylana's to look for it.

The fates gasps and moved closer to Anen, ready to help him if needed. Lachesis looked at Artopos worried, she knew Artopos wouldn't let anything happen.
Aylana voice grew even softer until it was almost unable to be heard "I don't know....everything dark...no light.....I can't find you.....please help....find....Airi...." the voice faded until the thread stopped glowing altogether.

The thread went limp and dark and loose in his hand, and Anen collapsed to his hands and knees on the shore of the pond, clearly visible again. "Airi," he said. "I need to get Airi. Aylana can't come back on her own."
He sat up slowly, rubbing his fingers over the faint scars on his palms. "But she's not dead. The thread's still there."
