I think killing off Nightwing would have caused more of a ripple in the non-comic book reading community; when Jason Todd was killed off, people who dont read comics were outraged and it wasn't even the robin they were thinking of. If they would have killed off the person that was robin when those people were growing up, s**t would have hit the fan.

I'm more of a drama fan myself so I would have liked to see the consequences of it. Yep nightwing's death would shock many more people than superboys.
