Poor little Lana has been struggling to get a decent faceup. Because she's got the hard plastic instead with insert eyes of the soft head, the paint/pencil/makeup/watercolor/etc. just plain doesn't stick. I've painted this kind of plastic before for my table-top minis, but only with a coat of primer first (yeah, icky idea for skin matching)...

I thought it might just be me so I handed her of too a new friend of mine who's been doing this a while longer, but she encountered the same problems. Nothing really sticks to Lana's face, so only eyebrows and lips even kinda stay. D;

Anyone got any tips on this?

Have you sprayed her face with Mr Super Clear? Not much sticks if you don't have a coat under whatever your painting, and lots will stain if you don't. :3

Well, nothings stained yet. Does the MSC work like a clear primer base or what? I've only heard of the kind that they use as a matte sealant... Or is that the same stuff?

Yeah, MSC can work as a primmer type coating. It is generally used as a sealant, but since it's matte, it gives the paint something to hold onto. You can get a small bottle of like... glazing medium to make her lips shiney and whatnot.

They still have MSC over at Volks. :3 It's good stuff, i've been using it to practice face-ups on a head i have. I'm going to attempt on on the plastic Volks head i have soon. Would you like a report on how it goes?

All my paint's sticked to Toby and Niro, save for eyebrows scraping off Toby once.
I just covered 'em with a coat of easily removable varnish.
