granted this is is not sex per se, however it is putting a damper on my sex life. so. I have an ingrown hair on my... private area.. its in there deep, and has been for months now and i dont know what to do to remedy it.. i cannot afford to go to the derm.. its like $100 a visit. and this hardly merits waiting half a day at the free clinic.. so i was wondering if any shavers out there had any advice as to how to rectify this...

You can always try to use tweezers to remove the ingrown hair. I usually just pull them out with my fingernails (hurts).

As a precaution for next time... use a hot compress (a washcloth with HOT water works) on the area before shaving. This opens the pores and helps the hair soften up.

Use shaving cream. It will help the hairs stand up and will moisturize the area and decrease irritation.

Use a razor with at least 3 blades. They will remove more hair with fewer passes (decrease irritation). Most 3+ blade razors for women have little strips on either side of the blade for extra lubrication and moisturization.

Run your hand over the area to be shaved against the grain and follow it immediately with the razor. This helps when hair is shorter to make it stand up.

Use a SMALL amount of lotion on the area afterwards. DO NOT (I repeat 'do not') put lotion on your genitals.

Use a shower brush to scrub the area between shavings. It'll hurt like hell the first few times, but it helps to toughen the skin. This will also remove extra dirt and dead skin from the area and can sometimes loosen up a newly ingrown hair.

Crazy enough, here's a trick I heard from strippers, to use in addition with Lilacwolf's tips.

Unscented deodorant on the OUTSIDE (don't get it inside the lips or v****a) can really help soothe razor burn and in helping prevent irritation, you can prevent ingrown hairs.

Srry hun, but the only thing that you can do is wait it out or put noxinma (sp- but it's an acne cream) on it wait 'til it draws a head, and bust it (I usually do that but it hurts like hell gonk )
