Notes -- Well, ever since I played Final Fantasy X-2, I've asked myself 'How did Lenne and Shuyin meet in the first place?' I was thinking of writing a fanfic about it, but never really had the time, but now I've finally decided to at least begin with what I have time for. Because of the fact that I don't have all that much time to write, the chapters are going to be rather short... sweatdrop
---
"Lenne, just remember to breathe, and just do what you do. Don't panic. Don't freak out." The frazzled manager paced back and forth, wiping his foggy glasses with his shirt before putting them back on. Messy red hair and forest green eyes made the man look younger than he was – he was nearly ten years older than his charge – though he acted like an old man at times.
"I think you're the one panicking, Rester," Lenne's melodious laugh filled the small room behind the stadium as she applied her makeup in front of the mirror – the last touch was a dash of her favorite lavender lip gloss.
"This is big! You're opening for the annual Blitz tournament! It's a first! This could be your big break!" Rester exclaimed motioning to the door with his hands. When Lenne didn't respond, he sighed and slunk down in the chair behind her. "I'm sorry Lenne."
"It's okay," She said glancing over her shoulder with a small smile, "Honestly, I just want to get this over with. I'm not too excited about playing for a bunch of jocks and their fans."
"Hey!" The redhead said with mock hurt. Everyone knew how much the manager loved the sport. "Well, you'd better get out there. You know where we'll be."
Lenne stood up, a determined fire in her eyes – it happened before every performance. "Right!"
The stage was set. A translucent platform was centered in the middle of the stadium, in the very spot where the two rivaling teams would start the play offs. It was dark as Lenne took her spot in the center. She could smell the chemicals they used in the water for the game. She found it ironic that she knew absolutely nothing about the game, but here she was, endorsing it.
Without warning the stadium was full of light, and the people – the thousands of them – went wild. Lenne was a hometown favorite. Undaunted, she grasped the microphone in her hand as the music started:
What can I do for you?
What can I do for you?
What can I do for you?
I can hear you...
As the dancers materialized behind her, the songstress fell into the moves imbedded in her mind, singing out for all of Zanarkand to hear.

Notes -- I think the first chapter came out quite well. I really took my time writing that and the second chapter, which is coming up shortly! ^_^

Notes -- Okay, here's the second chapter. Quite short! ^_^
---
"AND THE ABES MAKE THE GOAL AND WIN!!!"
Lenne nearly fell out of her seat as the announcer's voice blared over the speakers. Rester grinned at her, while Ladin lazily watched the winning team ram each other in congratulations. She was Lenne's childhood friend – the stoic blonde haired and blue-eyed girl was younger than Lenne, but sometimes the songstress had to wonder. Ladin was as cool and cold as ice. Despite this she was fiercely loyal to Lenne, supporting her no matter what.
"Is it over?" Lenne asked leaning over the rail of their bird's nest seats to see if people were leaving.
"Let's get the hell out of here before you get mauled," Ladin grabbed both Lenne and Rester by the wrist and dragged them to the elevator. But fate wasn't kind that day, so right as they reached the empty lobby the doors encircling it burst open, allowing the winning team and their thousands of fans to pour out. Lenne, Rester and Ladin stopped in their tracks and slowly turned.
"Look! It's Lenne!" A random fan yelled pointing at the songstress who was flanked by her friend and manager. Ladin cursed loudly.
"Run!!" Rester said pushing Lenne forward as the fans came on like a tidal wave.
"Running!" She squeaked and dashed down a random hall, hearing Ladin's monotone voice trying to stop the fans from going after her. Yes, Lenne loved her fans, but these were dangerous. Most were pumped from the game and maybe even a little drunk. So with all due speed the singer ran down the halls, a few fans trickling after her, unstopped by Rester and Ladin.
They called after her, begging for a handshake or autograph. Lenne had no idea where she was going in the stadium, but as she began to felt fatigue creep up on her she was almost willing to give in and spend hours and hours pleasing the fans, just to stop running. She slowly began to slow down, but as she turned a strong hand grabbed her arm and pulled her into a room and shut the door.
"Hold on," a male voice said in the dark as she tried to turn. It wasn't forceful, but it had something to it that intrigued Lenne immediately. Strength. She wouldn't mind hearing this guy speak more. Her hand accidentally brushed against him, and both jumped.
"Who are-"
"Shh."
Footsteps passed the door, and Lenne knew this guy had just saved her from the rabid fans.
"That was close," Lenne sighed leaning against a wall. She could tell the man was searching for the light switch. With a click Lenne blinked – they were in a very old broom closet, which might have been maybe six feet wide at the most. Her eyes looked up at the man – he was blonde, well built, and had bright blue eyes that looked like they could pierce stone. He gave a small, awkward smile. He was handsome.
"I'm Shuyin," he said offering his gloved hand.
"Nice to meet you, Shuyin," Lenne said taking his hand and repeating his name so that it became embedded in her mind. Her hand seemed incredibly small and frail in his, but she gripped it anyway. "My name is Lenne."
"I heard you sing," he said as the shake ended. "It was…really good. I don't think I'll ever hear anything like it again."
"Thank you, I'm really glad when people say that," Lenne smiled. "And thank you for the save back there. I don't know what I would have done."
"Yeah, it's annoying isn't it? They sometimes seem to forget we're people too."
We're? Lenne was a bit confused, and tilted her head to the side. "What do you do?" Shuyin gave her a look that clearly asked if she were crazy.
"I'm the star player of the Zanarkand Abes."
"Oh!" She said, the name and the face clicking in her head. Anyone who was anyone would have known that. "Sorry, I'm not the biggest Blitz ball fan," she said with a nervous laugh. Another small smile cracked Shuyin's face.
"Actually, I guess it's nice to finally find someone who hasn't based their life around the game."
"I know how that feels," Lenne laughed, but then started. "I'd better get going. My friends might get worried if I don't meet them at the Meteor Café soon. Thanks again, I hope I see you around…"
"Mind if I escort you?" Shuyin asked, a slight shade of pink appearing on his cheeks, as she went for the door. "I'm going to meet some friends there as well."
"I don't see why not," Lenne grinned. "At any rate you can save me if I get attacked by fans."
"No problem," he smiled offering his arm.

Notes -- There they are! First two chapters. Now I have to make some room in my schedule to write the third one. Anyway, feel free to post any comments you have! ^_^

"So, that song…what is it called again?"
"Real Emotion," Lenne replied, arm still entwined with Shuyin's as they walked down the street to the café. Somehow, it just felt…right. He was practically a stranger, but she felt safe around him. Lenne liked this feeling. How did he feel?
"Have any other songs?" He asked her. She sighed.
"A few. Nothing really special though. I need some inspiration, motivation…things like that."
"I see." Shuyin said thoughtfully, and they walked in silence. It was a comfortable silence, like the kind between old friends as they sit at a table, reminiscing on old times. She found herself realizing she had never experienced a moment like that. Ladin wasn't the type to dwell on the past, may it be happy or unhappy memories. Rester… they were friends, but she always saw him as a manager first, no matter what. They had only known each other for a year or so. What she wouldn't give for she, Ladin, and Rester to all sit at a table on reminisce about the times…
"Lenne."
The songstress blinked, seeing that the café was in front of them, along with a erratic looking Rester and the ever calm Ladin sitting out front. The former ran up to Lenne as if Shuyin wasn't even there.
"Where WERE you? Ugh, we were going ballistic, we didn't know what happened to you-"
"HE was going ballistic," Ladin interrupted walking up to Shuyin and Lenne, looking the Blitz ball player up and down, eyes narrowed. Lenne quickly removed her arm from his; hoping Ladin and Rester missed the movement in the dark. "Who is this?"
"Ladin, this is Shuyin," Lenne said, taking note of the scowl that had formed on Shuyin's face. He didn't like the way Ladin examined him. "Shuyin, this is Ladin and Rester."
"Wait a minute, you're from the Abes!" Rester suddenly shot up, big grin on his face. Ladin looked at Lenne with a raised eyebrow as Rester began chatting animatedly with Shuyin. Lenne shot the slightly startled athlete an apologetic smile.
"It's time to go, Lenne," Ladin stated without hesitation and began down the street. Lenne started after her, but sighed, annoyed. Shaking her head she turned and tapped Rester on the shoulder. She doubted he had taken a breath since first talking to Shuyin. Thankfully, Shuyin only appeared slightly peeved, probably hiding most of his annoyance behind those blue eyes.
"Rester, can you go tell Ladin I'll catch up to her in a minute?"
"Uh-huh, er, right away!" Rester then proceeded to bow to Shuyin, thank him for his time and then run off after the blonde female. Lenne put a hand to her forehead.
"I'm sorry."
"Were those your friends?" Shuyin said with a something that sounded like a laugh and a choke. A sheepish grin spread across Lenne's face.
"Yes, they're a bit protective…"
"Can't blame them."
Lenne laughed. "Well, I've got to be going. It was really nice speaking with you."
And she meant it.
"I guess I'll be seeing you around. Later," Shuyin nodded and left. With that, Lenne turned, feeling a bit empty. She thought she heard the whisperings of a song swirl in her head though…
