It was increasingly irritating to have Nam sitting there looking so unflappable. Petch made a face at the unidentified object that Namkha had suggested as a rat. Why the hell had they taken his oar away from him? Probably because they had known he would have wanted to beat Namkha over the head with it.

Leaning towards the presumed rat, Petch reached out as if he was going to grab it, "I'd be happy to relocate it."

Nam made a face, mostly at the realization that Petch would gladly touch it and Nam was determined to put as much distance between it and himself as possible. Had he really grown so soft? It was a little disturbing. He refused to think that he had ever been like Petch, however. He was classier than that.

"No, let's not disturb it from its resting place." He waved the rat corpse away as if he could also shoo away the idea of having it thrown at him.

Petch had not been intending to actually grab the rat. Even he had some standards. But Namkha was acting prissy and it was going to be a long night and Petch had decided that he really, really did not like the monk. So if he started to get the plague, maybe he would break his rule of not healing himself. Just this once.

"I've never been much of one for respect of the dead," Petch growled in response as he grabbed the rat corpse and pitched it across the room at Namkha. He was pretty grossed out, but he was too determined to assert his masculine dominance to let it show on his face.

Nam couldn't stop himself. He yelped. It wasn't a very flattering or manly cry, either.

There was a sudden loud gust of (unnecessarily powerful) wind that summoned itself up in the cell as if out of nowhere. The rat carcass had no sooner touched Namkha than it went flying across the cell. It hit the wall with a sick crunching noise, followed by a thud as it fell again to the floor.

Namkha's cracks had been fully exposed and for a good few seconds he looked harried and flushed. Perhaps that had been overkill.

Petch looked ill at the sound of bones crunching. The sound had never bothered him during a fight, but when the victim was a corpse, it was difficult to stomach. He didn't want to admit that it was his fault for throwing the damn thing in the first place.

"Geez, what the hell kind of monk are you," he demanded, looking at Namkha in disgust.

"I didn't take you for so weak stomached. You threw it first, after all," Nam commented as smoothly as he could, but the way he rolled away from Petch betrayed that he had definitely gotten to Namkha. "My aversion to having carcasses thrown at me has nothing to do with my standing as a monk."

"Well, you're a crappy Airbender," Petch snapped, "You didn't have to throw the damn thing into the wall."

"Lovers quarrel, ladies," a voice from a nearby cell asked. It was one of the men Petch had been with at the tea house.

"Why don't you shut up," Petch yelled back, getting riled up even worse than he already had. "Or figure out some way to get us the hell out of here."

Nam took this opportunity to calm down and turn the subject away from himself. Petch didn't seem like the type that wanted to talk about himself, but anything was better than arguing what defines a good Airbender. Nam was of the opinion that reacting so naturally with Airbending to a surprise threat was a sign of connection to the air and its currents... but that wasn't the point.

"Where did you find your companions?" He asked as calmly as if he hadn't just smashed a rodent on the wall and squealed like a girl. "Are you close?"

Petch would have argued that a good Airbender could have gently returned the rat to the ground without smashing its poor ratty corpse against the wall.

Petch shrugged. He thought the question was a strange one. Petch wasn't close to anyone, not even his mother, really. Or maybe he was closer to her than he would have liked to admit, and that was why they conflicted so much. "Here and there. We travel together. Work." His expression made it clear that he really didn't want to be having a conversation with Nam, but it was going to be a very boring night if he turned around and pretended the monk wasn't there.
