 ... Um three things...
1. Does it really matter what the envelopes look like?
2. Each year has had a different design. I've always thought an airmail envelope like this: http://www.thepostcard.com/walt/tran/air2/cov24.gif would be cool, you know, change the border colors each month to match and keep the envelope white. Anyhow, they ALWAYS change them, so nothing new there.
3. I have heard some rumors that Gaia is going to be making bigger icons for the items.. I don't know if it's true or not but perhaps that's why it's so blocky, at a bigger size it would be less so. Also, if you look these have been designed to look more fancy like you would send a gift IRL in. Ribbon, sealing wax, all fancy things you don't usually do on normal letters.
