If you're in a vegetative coma or purely vegatative state of any kind, is your soul/spirit/energy/whatever you want to call it still in your body or is it already departed? If you automatically project when you sleep would it simply spend the rest of your life outside of your body? What do you think would happen to it? etc.

In my opinion I believe it is still in the body however, the soul/spirit/energies might be divided in to some odd fraction and travel... maybe... astrally.
The Resurrection If you automatically project when you sleep would it simply spend the rest of your life outside of your body?
No, if it isn't your time to go it won't simply spend the rest of the life outside the body because I believe the body will call/reach out kinda like a magnet to get it back.
The Resurrection What do you think would happen to it? etc.
Well, I don't beleive any critical damage will happen much unless there is an "accident" when you are out of your physical body.

I don't know what exactly happens. I'm fairly sure that it can't be a very good thing, but I don't really know how to rank it for how bad it is/could be.

Well, it would have to still be inside the body, or they would be dead. If somebody is astral projecting, or their soul is out of their body, they cannot keep the connection if touched, forcing them to die. And I can imagine people like that would have to be touched quite often, so if they're alive still then it's inside the body.

Talk to any dreamwalker... they can tell you the truth about what is really inside a person when they are in a coma.
((For those that do not know what a dreamwalker is... (s)he reaches out to people in need... dead or alive... and serves almost as a guide to help the soul/spirit be at peace))
I had a discussion with a friend about divination and dreamwalking... This just so happens to be the sort of thing he focuses on. I was told that the person in coma is stuck between reality and dreams... always switching back and forth but never standing completely in either realm.

My uncle was in one before he passed. If you were to touch their cold skin, you can tell it is the shell just grasping to life. I believe you are gone. The body can live for a long time in a coma without the spirit.
