Yeah he did live, but he died quicker than Sana did. A lot quicker. That might have been some side effect from having the rune, but he could've just gotten a bad case of the runs or something.

Yeah. It's not explicitly stated that he died a short time after he removed it, but it's implied, IIRC.

Actually I've been reading the Suikoden 3 manga and when Luc takes Sasari's rune he says he only has a month to live

Yes, but I think their case is different, as the manga states the runes were used as a nucleus or something... so it doesn't matter if they're 10 or 100, I don't think either of them can live very long without their runes.
