"Mm, yeah. Getting things off your chest is always good. I speak to the fog, sometimes." He paused, realized he had just said he spoke to water. "Well, sort of the god of fog more than the fog itself. I'm not really sure what I spoke to, actually." He looked at her and chuckled, for he truely had no idea who he meant to speak with when he called things out to the mist like that. It was mroe to ease whatever was troubling him than anything else, really. And being the mainly nocturnal creature that he was, he rarely saw most of the Temple, so he had few friends that were all that close enough to tell such personal matters to.
Looking off towards the comming fog again, he noticed that ad moved much farther since the last time he had viewed it. Tangled in the brush and trees, it had slinked on towards the pair, and a thin covering was now up to their paws. It was pleasent, really, cool and moist. He smiled, looking down at his feet. He wondered for a moment where the other nightly creatures were, as they were usually showing up around now for their prayers and to socialize. This was always the time that he disappeared into the mist to avoid conversation. It wasn't that he didn't like conversation, it was more that he usually thought alone at this time of night. Sitting with Midori was a nice chage to the schedule, however.

Had she known she was changing his routine, she might have apologised for intruding and strolled off to find a hiding hole to spend the night. Either with her own thoughts, or to actually sleep once again though she figured such a thing would be difficult. Sleep would no doubt escape her for a number of hours. She watched the fog drift over her paws, lifting one to study the patterns of the cloud before dropping the appendage once again. Looking up at the other malu, her red eyes smiled before her lips could follow suit once again. "The fog can listen as well as the god itself. It is an extension of him, after all." She lowered her nose to the fog briefly before focusing her attention on Gustave once again.
"The night creatures will show their hides soon." She spoke with some wariness, knowing that a good number of the nocturnal malu were not safe creatures. She could hold her own against the few she might come upon during the day, but at night in their numbers they were more intimidating. With Gustave, however, she supposed her resistance to their recruiting would be a little more formidable.

For some reason, the male was comforted by Midori's words. He had known in the back of hism mind somwhere that the fog was like an ectra hand to his god, but it had never been put right in front of his eyes like that. It felt better, now, to be sitting in the layering mist, as he thought of it more highly now, if that were at all possible. "Yes, I hadn't thought of it that way..." He nodded to himself, adjusting his wings thoughtfully.
At the mention of the nocturnal beings that shared inhabitance at the oasis, however, his thoughts turned to a far grimmer idea. "They aren't usually a jolly bunch, I admit. I tend to keep away from them." It was true indeed that someone of them could become violent at nothing more than the flick of a tail or the twitch of a hide. Musing over such things brought his thoughts back to the female beside him, and he suddenly got the urge to protect her, to get her away from what could lurk so near. "Why don't we relocate? They rarely go to the central garden in the Temple, and it's so nice there at night..."

She smiled as he spoke, gently and reassuringly as if to reinstate what she had just said. It was good to feel the presence of one's god everywhere, and to see them in the things that the malu worshipped. She felt her goddess when she heard a secret, when a friend confided her, or even when she heard the breeze whispering through leaves like children telling secrets. Though she said nothing, she hoped he understood that she meant what she had said, and that she thought well of him for admitting to speaking outloud to the fog, to his god.
When he spoke of moving to the garden, the idea that he was attempting to protect her flickered past her mind but she let the notion slide. If he was, she would allow him to, which was a huge step in and of itself. Nodding slowly, she grinned, "If the fog doesn't follow, will you survive? You won't be able to get lost from me."

Unfolding his wings for a good stretch, Gustave stood up, flapping a few times and shaking out his body. It felt good to move after sitting in one position for so long, even though the company had been oh so enjoyable. The thought of leaving his eloved fog behind was not an entirely happy one, but he did admit, spending time in that utterly romantic garden with Midori didn't exactly sound horrible. He smirked at her joke, taking a step in the direction of the steps. "I'll live, I suppose... It'll be so sad, though. Hopefully it'll catch up? I mean, I don't want to have to spend any more time with you, of course." He teased and stuck out his tongue before turning back towards the great stone structure. Rustling in the leaves told him it was time to go, and he took a few steps forward, tossed a glance back to make sure the female he planned on protecting from the nocturnal beings was indeed following, and confidently moved on, up the steps, and under the great stone ceiling.
