Seneca's Journal

"We have doomed the Wolf not for what it is, but for what we have deliberately and mistakenly perceived it to be..the mythologized epitome of a savage, ruthless killer..which is, in reality, no more than a reflexed image of ourself." -Farley Mowat

Personality: Developing
History: Even as a newborn, Seneca wasn't the luckiest. Her mother was an omega and her father, the beta male of the pack. Despite the wonderfully devoted family, only the alpha pair was given the honor to pass on their heritage.
The alpha male noticed the omega hadn't been joining the pack for their meals and for their protection. He started to wonder, but had to keep with the rest to maintain order and give lead. What he didn't know was she had built a den that was half submerged underground and had given birth to a wonderful array of five newborns. She knew if either of the alphas found out, she would loose her pups. After little less than a week after giving birth, she knew that her pups would not survive without the gracious food that her pack was only able to obtain. She'd never been a loner and couldn't bring down a large prey item by herself. She kept a tidy den and figured the pups would be all right for a few hours. She left to join up with the pack. As she entered their territory again, she shrunk to the ground as her omega position expected of her. The alpha male glanced at her and immediately went over to determine her scent. She rolled onto her back in submission but he flashed her a fierce look. She hesitated, hoping it wasn't the scent of her newborns. He dashed toward the way she came, his nose hovering above the ground. She leaped off of her back and pinned her ears fiercely for the first time in her life. She raced towards him but he was moving too fast. She stood dead in her tracks as she watched him enter her den. A few minutes later, he emerged with blood dripping from his muzzle. She dropped in surrender as he snarled and shunned her from the pack. Her torment was overwhelming and she sunk into what was left of her den.
Despite the unphysical pain the alpha had just inflicted in her, she searched the ground for any sign of life. As she got further and further her hopes were dwindling. She stopped when she got to the end of the den, what was there amazed and deemed her dumbfounded. A tiny runt-of-the-litter lay there, barely breathing. She dropped to the ground and started grooming immediately.
She named the pup Seneca and now only left to fend for herself and one pup, the new mother set off on her own.
One afternoon, Seneca had been left at the base of a tree while her mother went off looking for food. They had done this a couple of times now that the pup started to consume meat, except this day was different. A bear had caught the scent of the young child. Seneca knew she was in trouble and howled a terrible sound. Her mother rushed to see what was wrong. As soon as she saw the bear, the adult female pounced for her pup's life. The bear was a strong and dominant male who carried the mother wolf's lifeless body away. Seneca was left there at the base of the tree with horrible images that hadn't made much sense.
