Is there a distinction for you? Why or why not? And what's your favorite song to sing along to (karaoke style, but hopefully better than karaoke)?

For me, there's sometimes a distinction... but I really tend to pick artists who I could possibly sing to. When there's a distinction, it's usually by necessity: I can't hit all the notes in some of Nightwish's music, and I can't growl along with Rammstein.

I'll sing along to anything, if I know the lyrics.. Could be the worst song ever. And if it's out of my range, I just switch octaves.

Yeah, I'll do that to music on the radio, but some of the stuff that I listen to by choice just doesn't deserve to be mucked up by my inability to sing it. ^^;

I sing to everything, but I only sing Karaoke to things that make my voice sound good, lol.

How do you know that they make your voice sound good, though?

Like, up until recently, I thought my voice was nice. Then I heard a recording of myself singing, and I've got one of those painfully nasal voices... and NOTHING can make that sound good. ._.;;

Well obviously some songs will make you voice sound better than others. When my voice is at its best than I consider that good for my voice.

I like to try and sing along to everything, even if I sound like a complete fool. Heh. I love singing.

For me I guess it mostly depends on who is with me. If its someone who I feel is a better singer than I am, then Im less likely to sing, but if its someone who is of equal or lower singing-ness than I'll sing.

Quick note, for me, most of my sing-a-longs are listening to music and lip-sync-ing, or sometimes I will sing quietly to it, to myself.

Well, it's almost impossible not to sing along with Happy Happy Joy Joy, while I can't sing a long with most AC/DC songs, because I haven't listened to them enough. Ther German version of Barbie Girl, though, I am starting to get the words. But, for life of me, I couldn't tell you what they were saying, or how to spell any of it. wink

well for singing in my choir, i have absolutely loved singing the classical pieces we sang in italy...in choir i can sing anything as in in any genre and i will still love it. cool

but for listening to music i just like rock, and i like some classical and can define them by name when i hear them sometimes because i've learned them from my piano-teaching mom (but shhh! dont tell anyone i actually like classical!) lol, people in my school would be like ew ur weird.
