Honestly, the way I see things, Relena doesn't fit with any of the other Gundam pilots all that well. As I see it...

Duo - He'd probably get on her nerves with his goofiness and apparent shallowness (I know he isn't shallow, hence the "apparent"). Even in his deeper moments, Duo just doesn't seem like Relena's type. Also, he seems very supportive of Heero/Relena (as evidence in BFoP), and would probably try to set the two of them up together.

Trowa - I see this one a lot, and to be honest it confounds me. Most fanfics have Heero "rejecting" Relena, or her "moving on" to Trowa, but the thing is that Heero and Trowa are too similar. Anyone with a basic knowledge of psychology will tell you that such an act isn't "moving on" at all, but a subconscious expression of her true feelings for Heero, represented by her trying to find an attraction to someone similar. Besides, the two of them only spoke about four sentences to each other in all GW media, and everything they said was related to Heero.

Quatre - They have similar outlooks on life, but for all their interaction in the series I only got a friendship vibe and nothing deeper. Quatre is one of the few people to whom Relena can speak openly and honestly and not have to worry about being sucked up to. However, he has a lot of respect for her as an important person and probably never considered her from any romantic angle. Besides, people with similar personalities typically make for poor couples; it's the ones who are different, but not violently different, that work best.

Wu Fei - See what I said above about "violently different". After EW, Wu Fei might finally recognize Relena as a formidible figure and an actual ally, but I doubt he'd see anything beyond that. Besides, the two spent less time together than just about any two characters in the show. It would take an act of divine intervention to spark a romance between these two, and I mean more than the cliché "angry sex" that happens all too often in fanfiction.

As for Heero, the two of them have a great deal of understanding and respect for one another, as they see the other's battles as a mirror of their own, and each looks to the other to find the strength to carry on their own fight for peace. Early on, it didn't seem to be romantic at all (in ep.3, Sally refers to Heero as "that handsome young man" and Relena expresses confusion), but I think one can definitely see that it reached that point. For Relena, I think it hit about the time he came to the Sanc Kingdom, notably that cute little scene where she watches him disembark from the shuttle. As for Heero, it probably came later on, but I think it's pretty well undeniable; you don't tend to be that nice to someone you hate, or even just tolerate. On some level, he likes her, and given the subtle intimacy of some of his actions towards her (particularly brushing her cheek and letting her sleep on his shoulder in BT), I think it's sort of obvious that there's something going on that not even the Perfect Soldier completely understands... biggrin

Hmm . . . hard to imagine. Relena's pretty intent on Heero. It would take some prying. But I could picture her with Quatre, and that's about it. He's the only one who I think would give her the time of day. Duo would, but I can't see him sitting still long enough to woo a girl or let one fall in love with him. I think Hilde's better suited for him because she's not tied down to political duties and social connections.

Even if Heero died I see it as a case of her accepting that and and continuing on with the memory of his feelings for her. Relena doesn't come across as the type as to easily just "move on" even after someone's death. She'll take the time to remember them. Let her heart heal and continue forward as her loved ones would want.

I could see her turning to the boys to help that happen. As Void pointed out there I think the most she would be with the boys are good acquaintances or just friends. Nothing romantic would most likely happen. After all Duo has Hilde (makes sick face) are matched off. While Trowa and Quatre have no real partnering (and don't you dare say Catherine and Dorothy I will smite you) in the series romantically. Wufei has had someone in Meiran but also in a strange way has Sally though even if nothing happens there there's always a slight possible turn about in that case.

That's sort of true, but we can make inferences based off of evidence presented in-series, such as the characters' attitudes towards one another.

Besides, to assume that Relena would have to "get over" Heero assumes she got with him at some point, so we're already in the realm of "what if" right there.

I dunno there's always a special place in your heart for your first crush... unless things really was bad.
