It really wasn't meant to happen.

A day like any other for the pair. It was only a few days before the holiday all the hubub was about. Well more than a few days, five to be exact. The 19th of December and all through the town each mother was stirring with mighty a frown. Each was in search of that precious object their child had asked for. The one that had previously been hidden. Thus, the last few days of madness had swept the city and taken over in a storm.

It made Haruki ever so pleased he worked as a teacher rather than in a store. Not that he ever would, but all the same. Retail workers must have had to work so many extra hours these last few weeks. He could only imagine. He himself had needed to work a few extra hours lately to ensure all the paperwork was finished before the holidays. He didn't particularly like Christmas himself, but he also assumed Revon wanted a 'traditional' holiday. Which suggested that Haruki would need to be there and able to cook that day. Thus, he needed the free time. A few hours the week before didn't bother him anyway, so there really was nothing to complain about. Though as he strode past a group of screeching children he did find something he might have grumbled over.

Those flocks of barely attended munchkins could go.

Of course, that was a bit hypocritical. He did have Revon with him, the dark creature in brilliant pink. However, the raven was far better behaved than the other children. He simply clung to the pale pink doll titled 'Rainbow' and followed along. He was quiet and subdued. Not a a loud accident waiting to happen. This was something Haruki had to say he was proud of in the child. The boy behaved in a way that was far more mature than even some of the children older than him. Then again, the pink streak that ran deep was the price he seemed to pay for the obedient child. Pink hair, clothes, shoes, and even toys. Having a child who was in your care and a boy refered to as a darling 'daughter' more than one couldn't be too healthy for one's mentality. Not after a long enough time anyway.

The red-head couldn't complain though. He had chosen not to stop the child when it was proclaimed the ivory locks were to be dyed a pale shade of pink. Rather, he'd given the child a go ahead as he had when the boy chose clothing. One's appearance should be strictly one's own choice. Even if it was hard for the man to stand aside and watch as any proof that Revon was infact a boy, he had stuck by the resolution and simply nodded in silence allowing it. Such was the relationship. Both child and adult understood it well.

Although at times Revon did seem the enjoy guilting Haruki into things. But only on occaision. He never overused it to the put the aloof teacher became immune to the requests. Usually petty and harmless in nature. That was what started the event that day. One tiny little request.

Something as simple as hot chocolate could do a lot.

The pair had only been on their way to pick up some groceries, walking along the same path they would always trek. The same sights, the same shops. Nothing out of the ordinary about the day at all. A plaintive tug at his sleeve drew the man's attention to the boy at his side. The dark skinned child had paused and the obvious telltale signs of a request shown on his face. After it was assured that the adult was listening the timid child spoke up. "Could I please get a cup of cocoa?" They had only a second before passed the coffee shop, which obviously served hot chocolate as well, so the request did make sense. Though there was a moment of akward silence that the child quickly tried to fill. "R-rainbow wants some because it's cold." Ahh, there was the reason behind it. A worthy reason if Revon was a bit chilled, for certainly the plush could not feel the wind.

A faint nod was given as the response along with a 'wait here.' Then Haruki was turning to wander back the few paces to purchase the drink. Revon had always been an obedient child, one of the few things Keivlos might have done right to an extent. The twin brother had beaten his shy sibling's ego into a state of utter compliance. The boy rarely did anything against an order given. Though bit by bit that seemed to be changing. The young bird was slowly crawling back out of the shell his hellion of a brother had driven him into. Haruki would have to be blind not to see that.

Though that wasn't entirely the cause for today's mishap. Perhaps a combination of that and odd circumnstance. For as Haruki was away the child found himself in an odd situation. Neither parent nor child had bothered to look at the less than astounding building Revon had been left standing before in silence. Thus when a tawny haired child strode out of the door curiosity set in. Bi-coloured eyes met the muddy brown ones in silence. Then it was broken.

"You get ditched here too?"

A frown crossed the bird's face. Ditched? He didn't quiet understand the whole concept of it. "N-no. Haru just went to get s-some cocoa." The avian quietly replied, tugging the pink plush closer to him as if to create a greater sense of security. "He'll be back in a moment." Half true. Revon didn't ralize there had been a line in the coffee place. One the teacher would be stuck in for a time.

The child frowned at this, almost seeming upset at the notion that Revon hadn't been left there. Perhaps life had been too unfair to the boy and he simply wished for another to know and understand the wrong cast upon him. "So you've got big plans for the holidays then?" The voice was less than sugar coated, more like that of a snake baiting you closer. A bit of honey mixed with venom. A poison known as jealousy. For what child didn't wish to have a family to go home to around this time of year?

Sadly, the boy was a bit to trusting in nature and fell right for the deceitful tongue. An over exuberant nod given in response. "Yes, Haruki is going to cook and there will be presents."

Again he'd used the name. The orphan grimaced at this. It was like rubbing it in his face to keep talking about one's family. Even if the response had been prompted by a question he himself had asked. Still, he inched forward a step as if eager to continue the conversation, once more the sly voice cutting into the chill winter air. "Presents huh? Like that?" He indicated the stuffed creature that showed between the folds of pink cloth that adorned the bird's body. Ah yes, the rainbow eyed plush.

A smile came upon the boy's face at this. He did hope to get Rainbow a friend, but it wasn't a given. "I think Rainbow would like that, but I'm not sure. This is my first Christmas." The child had only a brief understanding of the holiday from the books he'd read. Unlike his keeper, he couldn't visualize how things worked simply by reading it. It had to be something he admired about the man. For Revon... seeing was understanding. Certainly after a Christmas of his own he would be able to comprehend the wonder of it.

The boy, who appeared to be around eleven, seemed rather puzzled at this. First Christmas? The boy before him could not be less than six. And seemed older than that certainly. So why on earth would the child not know Christmas? Still, the green-eyed beast held tight and confusion was soon doused with malice toward the fortunate boy. A firm smirk tugging it's way onto his face. "Ohh, well... may I see Rainbow?" Jealousy meant ruining that bit of happiness those more lucky were blessed with. He'd found one simple way to go about it.

A simple request, polite and certainly it didn't seem a threat to the bird. A polite nod was given and a final squeeze before the object in question was held out daintily to the boy. Afterall, sharing was caring. Or so people said. Revon wasn't one to be cruel and uncaring, now was he? The boy didn't like to think he was. Obvious concern did was over his face as the doll was plucked hastily from his hand rather than accepted and admired. As soon as the object was transfered the boy seemed to vanish. Though not truly, he simply darted for the door and was within the orphanage again within a moment. Which left Revon at a slight loss. Then a quick fumble as if he thought that Rainbow had simply dropped from his hands. A brief sense of denial and then a voice.

"Revon your-" The red-head never had a chance to finish as the boy quickly looked over his shoulder at the parent then after a quick rush of 'he took Rainbow' was following after past the heavy wooden doors.

Since when had getting hot chocolate been this troublesome?

The bird had obviously delayed too long in his shock. The old child had vanished from view by the time he'd shoved open the heavy door and entered the building. Instead a homey atmosphere dusted over with the official hand of business stood before him. A counter with a few cluttered pieces of paper and two doors two choose from. No one was in sight at the moment, so the child simply chose one of the wooden doors and tugged it open before darting down along the hallway head twisting to and fro in search of the child who'd snatched his friend away.

Thunk, thunk, thunk. At first the only sound was the frail bird's boots along the wooden boards of the hall. Then as if by magic he realized there was the quiet mumbling of voices. A bout of panic ran through the boy. Not one voice. Plural. Revon wasn't exactly the most social child in the history of mankind. Friendly? Yes, certainly he was friendly, but... A distinct frown crossed the now paused child's face. He didn't like being surrounded by people. He simply didn't. Groups frightened him. He'd only recently overcome the fear of being around single people, he doubted he'd handle a large gathering well, especially not without some form of security. It was at this moment he looked back in search of the tall guardian he'd been with only minutes before. The red-head was nowhere to be found.

Even worse Revon realized he didn't quite know where he was in the building anymore. He'd been in such a frantic search that he hadn't been watching where he was going. An obvious mistake, one he had made before. The recollection of the night spent with the girl who glowed slightly fluttered up into his mind briefly before he dashed it back down. This was different. It was only a building, not the forest.

Still, as anxiety set in the child began backtracking slightly, a hum escaping his lips. It was more nervous behavior than anything, a subconcious attempt to sooth his own nerves. The bird enjoyed singing, possibly a side effect of the raven genes that ran in him. It was calming to hear a familiar sound that mimicked something he adored, which was likely what allowed the boy to start making some sense out of his location. This area looked slightly familiar, perhaps a little. Then the train of thought was interrupted by an abrupt new noise. Something of a coo and a giggle merged. Maybe it was just a gurgle, but it drug the birds attention to the door it had escaped from. A brief peek to into the crack in silence, for the noise had stopped his humming to himself, proved a view at a young child on the floor. Not quite an infant, but not a toddler either.

Haruki had stepped inside shortly after Revon, quickly looking for the bird himself. Sadly, he'd been slowed by trying to keep the steaming chocolate from splashing all over his hand, thus he'd been greeted by only a door left ajar by the child in his haste. A few quick steps brought him to it when a voice stopped him.

"Can I help you, sir?" The tone was neither friendly nor hostile. Just curious and subdued with that of business as it's main trait. The woman it was attached to showed a similar quality, though the lines of worry that only a mother figure always were worn into her face. Obviously the effect of time.

"My child is here, I'm simply picking him up." Perhaps not the best of word choice for the man to use. Still, to him it was clearcut. As well, he had yet to realize the building was an orphanage, it wasn't as if he'd gone picking through the documents on the counter to check.

A veteran with odd wording, it took more than a few words to get the woman's hopes up for a child. Still, one brow arched at the statement as the brushed a few strands of hair back behind her ear. A prospective parent was not someone to look frumpy before. Even if they were a long shot. "Oh? Your child?" It seemed almost like a joke that the man would word it that way, certainly there was a catch.

A brief nod was given, and a hint of annoyance shone in the single visable eye as the man shifted his wait to face the woman more. A modest creature, worn with time, but still a touch of kick left in her obviously. "Yes, his name is Revon. He's wearing mostly pink, has pink hair, and black skin. He also has wings." Defining features really, the child was unmistakable really. "He also has one red eye and one dark gray eye." As if there needed to be further clarification. Though Haruki was known for being thorough. "He said something about someone taking his plush doll before running in here."

A look of confusion shone momentarily at the statement. Revon? She knew not any child in her care by that name, nor one with such... features. Though the finishing clarification explained it. This was actually the man's child. She had given it a bit of hope too soon obviously. This was over a doll that must have been snatched. By Matteus most likely, the boy had a bit of a problem dealing with children who had families. He'd been left alone with a promise, abandoned. The child did have a reason to be bitter, though it really was unfair to take it out on another child. "Ahh, I see. Do you know where he is?" The question obviously needed no asking, though the building was large, perhaps the red-head had an idea of it. As for the doll. Matteus would be where he always was. Upstairs at his window pouting with his prize. The child really wasn't bad, just misunderstood.

An akward silence held as bi-colored eyes met bi-colored eyes. Revon starring in confusion at the now silent creature whose posture was a mixture of sitting and spawling on the floor and in return the young boy stared right back at the mixture of brilliant pink and black. Then a tiny smile drew across the pale infants face as he waited a moment, feline ears flicking. He was waiting for the music to come back. The happy notes that had earlier been so thick in the air, if not hitched by a mixure of nervousnes. Still, the young boy wanted them back, he'd liked the noise.

Then it was broken as the bird started to step back, the momentary curiosity dismissed. Why he'd even been drawn to look still puzzled him. A delicate step back that was halted by the mixture of a whine and baby talk that escaped the young thing on the floor. A mixed emotion appearing on the older boy's face as he let his head drop a bit closer to define the meaning. Why did the young child wish him to stay? For certainly that was it? "Are you lonely?"

Lonely wasn't quite the word to use. Nor was the child meaning to ask for the dark bird to stay. It was more of a cry of despair that had been issued from the young feline than a cry for the boy to stay. Some bit of him chided that he'd no right to request anything of the other boy. Even if it did not register in the young mind the rule ran true in Phace's sad little call. It was simple sadness over the future lack of continuation rather than a reqest. Nothing demanding was meant by it. Thus no internal law was broken in the timid calling.

It was simply misread.

The young bird inched forward into the once more silent room watching the curious child. His eyes reminded him of his own, and yet his brother's as well. A slight frown crossed the raven's face at the recollection of his twin brother. Then sadness took over and he let his head droop slightly. Keivlos would still hate him wouldn't he? His brother was not so forgiving. As much as Revon attempted to hide it he still wished more than anything to reconcile with his brother. He just... he didn't know how.

A mild gurgle, this more gleeful escaped the child this time. A smimle lighting up the infant's face as he pricked his ears forward and reached up a hand clumsily at the bird. It was staying, the music thing was staying. This was a cause for rejoice, which was what he attempted. Rejoice also meant singing, though that was something out of the young boy's power. Still, perhaps the music box would stop starring at it's feet and begin again?

Revon glanced up as the child seemed to giggle, starring in confusion. It didn't make sense to the boy why this child was so eager to have him there. It seemed to him it could only be loneliness, although the room itself looked as if it belonged to more than one child. It was just the single boy there for the moment. Still, it was a puzzle... One he should try to understand.

A few akward steps brought him closer to the feline, his wings tugging closer to him instinctively as a bout of shyness attempted to overcome him. It was only an infant, nothing to be bashful around. They didn't understand half of anything anyway. Perhaps the child was just eager to play on a whim, that might have been it. A dark hand, half covered by the overwhelmingly puffy sleeve of his jacket reached out as he crouched down to the boy's level. Rather then snagging his fingers though, the child caught the pink fabric in a tiny fist and gave it a few weak tugs before another giggle escaped the baby. A baffled smile made it's way along the avian's face as he watched the child. He hadn't realized earlier, but the young boy was an interesting sight.

Pale white clothing dashed with dark soot coated points. A style which Revon himself found intricate and hard to comprehend. He almost envied it, wishing he might have had an outfit similar for his own. The ears and tail seemed less astounding to him. He'd seen more than a few people with them, but the marking. He'd not seen something such as that before, and his free hand cautiously reached out before running a finger over it carefully. It wasn't pain, a permanent tattoo. It reminded him a bit of a butterfly in a way. A peculiar thing to see on someone's cheek, and below the pale silver hued eye it seemed so out of place. Though perhaps what could be considered more puzzling than the rest was what lay atop the strips of cloth which pooled around the child from it's shirt. A staff about as tall as the boy. On time of it emitted a mist in an almost orblike sphere before another section of metal topped it. The thing was simple, as simple as the child's outfit. Yet it drew your eye as curious when put next to the rather unique looking boy. Alone they were an oddity, together they seemed a bit of a mystery. It certainly didn't help that the child was hard to understand.

Phace stared mutely, his silver eye shutting as one finger drew near and softly traced over his skin. It was a shame. No more music it would seem. Still as the hand drew back the eye opened again before a definite blink as if to adjust them both. Another akward moment of silence before he got another repsonse. This time it was the bird shifting his weight so that he was now sitting as well. If one could call the feline's posture sitting. Still, he released the boy's sleeve to use his arms to try to shove himself up and only succeeded in switching his posture with a flop in the opposite direction. It did earn the infant a minute laugh that was muffled by the bird's hand. Obviously he found it would be rude to laugh openly, but it must have been a curious sight?

After a moment Revon quieted and reached out to help the child sit up, using one of his own legs as a prop for the younger boy. It worked like a charm and the infant seemed pleased again, placing his hand on his own legs as he leaned back and peered up as if waiting. Waiting for what? "You're silly... you know that?" He said it quietly before shoving a few pale strands of hair from his face. "Do you want to play? For me to entertain you?" Revon wasn't good at much. He just... he liked to dance a bit, and sing. He'd mostly begun to sing in order to please his brother, to show the other twin he was useful for something. Not that it had worked. If anything the odd habit had enraged Keivlos further, even if other's enjoyed it. He admitted that now he even enjoyed it and continued for his own devices. Something that was a bit heartwarming, not so much as approval ight have been... but good enough. "If that's really what you want." He was really only talking to himself, expecting no reply from the seemingly wordless child. Oh, he made noise, hejust didn't speak. Not clearly anyhow. The bird knew better than to expect a real response from him.

So perhaps that was why when he began humming again quietly it was so shocking to see the infant close it's eyes and lean back. Ears still at attention to catch each note, though everything else was simply relaxed against his leg. Only the occaisional flick of the cats tail suggested he was still awake. Though as the bird quieted thinking perhaps the boy was tired both eyes opened and glanced back up questioningly. Obviously he wasn't allowed to stop? So once more he began humming one of the happy little tunes he often mimicked in his game and the moment was restored. A blissful little quiet in it's own way.

"I believe he went through this door." The red-head indicated the one behind him for the woman at the question. A brief nod and she started for it, walking around the man who in turn followed.

"Do you have any idea where he might have gone?" The voice was as always coated in a business woman's guise as she casually peered over her shoulder. He obviously didn't know the way either with the blank look at followed. Certainly not. Nothing would be so easy, and to make matters worse Matteus would have gone the opposite way. Well she'd retrieve the possession later. For now they simply needed to find this Revon. Who for all she knew, could have been made up. Had she not seen prospective parents in the past claim something was lost in the building to wander in with no previous promises. So even if a child was not to their liking they would... perhaps feel less guilt for leaving? For certainly they had only come to find what they lost, not to find something new. Perhaps the odd winged child did not exist. Though as they rounded a corner an odd tune graced her ears.

Haruki knew the sound too well as it too reached him. An amused smile momentarily found it's way onto his face. So predictable, the child was so predictable. Humming a tune while hunting for his doll. What could be more like him? Though as that thought slipped from his mind the man quickly realized what he had done. Seconds later the once more bland expression took over his face and a suspicious glance was granted to the woman, testing if she'd seen the smile. The knowing look said she had and the red-head felt a momentary wave of embarrassment as his lack of self control before he quickly spoke to draw the attention back to the tune. "That would be Revon." He quickly said before starting down a hall toward the noise. He reached it before long and was rather shocked at what he saw. Rather than Revon hunting for his doll... the child was lounging on the floor starring down at a teal haired infant. The infant seemed to be more asleep than awake, a blissful smile on it's face as it leaned against one of the brilliant pink pantlegs. What an absolutely odd sight to behold.

It took a moment for Revon to realize he was being watched, though when he did the song abruptly cut off and his eyes switched up to his guardian. It was at this moment that he recalled why he'd come in he first place and he felt a bit of shame creep upon him. He'd been a bit selfish hadn't he. "Ah... Haru..." He didn't quiet know what to say as a woman he had not met before also appeared in the door frame. "I... I was just." He pursed his lips before looking down to the child, who was once more at attention the bi-coloured eyes once more upon him.

The boy had stopped again. No more music once more. Phace had stared silently a moment before his attention turned to the door. Some red-head and the woman who was always around. She often took care of him, sometimes humming as well since he enjoyed it. Which only brought a new thought to mind. Two people to sing. The very idea caused a joyful noise to escape the infant as he leaned forward to tug the staff he'd left sitting a moment closer. It should hear too.

This really did raise a brow. So the child did exist. Well that made some sense, not what really puzzled the woman was that he'd learned so quickly just what would sooth that boy so quickly. Phace, she had learned, enjoyed nothing more than music. Not any music though, something sung by people. Aside from that it didn't matter. She'd tried a tape of lullabies before, but had only succeeded in causing an endless cry that woke up a few other children. She'd never allowed such music near the boy since. Still, she didn't tell everyone that and had never seen the child before. He couldn't have been more than nine, so it was rather shocking to think he'd figured it out so quickly. Impressive really. What a shame for face they weren't here for a child.

A quiet cough brought attention to her as she graced them both with a practiced smile. "I'll go get the doll from Matteus for you. Please wait here with Phace." She said quietly before starting off down the hall.

The sound of the woman's steps faded off as she moved along, meanwhile the three were left in a curious position. Haruki obviously musing over how to respond to this. He'd learned what the building was for while walking down the hall and now he was faced with an odd problem. Revon seemed to have made friends with the child who was once more leaning back against his leg. The boy had been getting better at making friends lately, but he always seemed more withdrawn and careful around them. For a brief instant the teacher had watched the boy seem as happy as when he was alone without fear of what other's thought. That was what made the situation a bit of a bother for Haru. He'd been trying to figure out a way to help the raven adjust to his new empty hole which had previously been filled by his brother. Now it seemed like he was presented with the solution. One he wasn't too fond of.

Haruki just wasn't the fatherly type. Even if he was rather protective of the boy before him.

Revon didn't get a reply to his fumbled response. Instead the woman drew all eyes to her and requested they not move. She was going to get Rainbow it seemed, so there was no longer a need to make an comment on that really. But how to explain how he ended up here? Fingers caught the hem of his jacket and curled around it as he watched the red-head a moment more before turning down to the child, who appeared to be named Phace. Though his gaze snapped back up as finally the silence was broken again.

"So you made a friend I see." It wasn't so testy as curious. Perhaps a hint of the impending doom veiled in it. Haruki had masked it well though, that strained tone in his voice. He didn't particularly like where this was going at all. If anything it left him dreading the days ahead. One child was bad enough. A toddler was bad enough. This was an infant they were talking about. The horror stories of baby food flying and 'accident's were stumbling into clarity to try and justify leaving Revon to recover through his own devices. Yet they were being countered by the voices of the past saying that he knew what it was like to be confused and alone. It made things very hard to decide, even harder to judge the situation fairly. Personal biase was more trouble than it was worth.

Revon nodded mutely in response to the question. "He... Er Phace just wanted me to hum a bit. He seemed really happy." The boy patted the small child on the head at this, his fingers digging into the teal locks momentarily before returning to his shirt hem. He'd enjoyed having the audience, a captive one sort of, but it had been fun. No one had really said his singing was good, and the boy had literally seemed to worship it in a way. It was a definite ego boost if anything. Something Revon could likely use, not that he realized it.

Happy? Yes, obviously the feeling had been mutual. Revon had been enjoying it as much as the infant. Which was what really did sort of define the answer. What better to fill a new gap than something similar to what was lost? So with a mental sigh the other side hushed down as the winning side called out triumphantly. Time to wait for the woman to get back, and as if on command the footsteps began to echo as she appeared again. Though she never made it to the door as Haruki moved to meet her.

Retrieving the doll had been no trouble at all. Matteus had handed it over without a word and gone back to his quiet brooding. A sad state, but the woman had learned that interferring didn't do much good for the boy. Thus she'd patted him on the head and given a reminder not to miss dinner before starting down toward where she'd left the pair. Though mild confusion shone on her face as the man stopped her short. "Yes..?"

Ah, how to word this in such a way that it made sense. He had to admit that such things were not his forte. 'Revon, has a twin brother." Which didn't get to the heart of the issue at all, but he had to start somewhere. "They don't get along anymore." Already, getting a bit closer to the heart of it. Likely the woman already knew where this was going. "Revon was very close to his brother before and hasn't been as happy since their fight." Both true and untrue. Revon had been able to be himself, but at the same time he did have the gap. "He hasn't looked in such peace until today and..."He trailed off looking to see if the woman understood. Her face said that she plainly did, if anything she seemed pleased with the response. "Don't get me wrong, not today." A mild drop. "We have a spare room, but I don't exactly have things for caring for a child his age at home." Oh she looked a bit more pleased again. "It would be a bit better to surprise Revon as well, I think." He actuall had an idea in mind as to the date. "Would... the 25th work? In the morning, I could come early."

It was a curious turn of events certainly, he'd come in search of one child and ended up with a second? Not only that, the parent hadn't been the one to choose. Rather it seemed as if Phace chose them both. As peculiar as that was for an infant it almost seemed to fit the boy. He was rather shrouded in mystery. He'd simply ended up there one day with that staff, only a name given before the person had gone. Phace, that was all she knew as first. Of course she'd learned his oddities with time, but she didn't have an explaination for anything else. Once more she had a mystery to question with him, though not is seemed not to matter. phace had found his perfect spot. As sad as that was for her, who had grown a bit attached to the child, it was better for the baby. He would have a defined home before long. Apparently on the twenty-fifth to be exact. She gave a brief nod, mildly contemplating who would watch the bird-like child while the man was here. Or perhaps the boy would be coming with. As long as he wasn't alone it would work well enough. "Certainly, I'll be sure to be awake. What time?"

"I'll be here at six am." He quickly replied, not returning the pleased look. That said he held out a hand, which earned him a odd look. "Revon will want Rainbow back." He quickly clarified and was given the doll when realization hit. A polite nod as the man turned to start back for the room where Revon was still waiting. "Revon, say goodbye to your friend. We still need to finish the grocery shopping. Your hot chocolate is also probably cold by now." He added recalling the cup he'd left on the front desk. Then again, some child might have snatched the glass up thinking it a treat. Who knew?

The boy frowned mildly at the suggesting, having started playing a game of tug-o-war with the younger child since his guardian had walked off. "Oh..." He turned his gaze down to the infant before giving him a forced smile. "It was nice meeting you, Phace. Be good." With that he readjusted the toddler who didn't quite seem to understand at first. Then when the bird stood up an obvious pout appeared on the infants face. The music box was leaving. That was what was going on. The red-head man was taking the music box away. A second whine of the day escaped him as if to try what had worked before, issuing the sadness at the second loss of the musical thing. No luck. The avian simply turned and flashed a tight smile before taking the doll back from his keeper and turning to go.

The jumble of words said that it was a good thing. That he couldn't ask them to stay. They weren't the masters. Sadly, such words were lost on the child. All that he felt was that there was something missing. That's all he understood. Something wasn't there, something he couldn't understand was missing. They simplified it for him in the end.

This was how it was meant to happen.

Shopping was always a bother. Shopping for a babies needs durring the holidays was a true bother. Not only did the man dislike the general idea of being surrounded by every shade of lavender, sky blue, and my little pony pink, but the mother's. Gods, why it so hard to be one of the few men in a store? Not only that, but surrounded by what could only be classified as frantic mobs of woman while you tried to pick out something that didn't make his eyes cry? Who would want a hideous lipstick colored face with curly blond locks starring at them night and day from their blanket, anyway? It truly baffled the man. Truly.

And he hadn't even had Revon to feed to them as a distraction.

Still, he'd survived the ordeal. Managed to find a blanket that was a royal blue and white mix and what other little things he'd need. He really didn't care to go into the details of prices for the infants items. He simply had to be thankful he didn't go shopping often. That, and D-Corp did pay him fairly. They had to what with expecting him to put up with dragons and poisonous kids. Though it still wasn't cheap. Nor was getting it home and tucked away in the room that had previously been a study of sorts before Revon saw anything. Ah yes, a sacrifice. He'd lost his study. The books would need to find a new home, but Revon would be happier. Or so he hoped.

In the past few days the teacher had managed to bring order to the room, forcing a livable look into it. A simple cradle for the child, a dresser with a few outfits(he'd managed to dig up some things in similar styles to the boy's closed), and even a few small toys. Though he'd guessed on that. Something he might regret later, but alas... It was too late to do anything about it now. The room was child proofed and he'd found himself standing outside of the orphanage again at the apointed time. Six am sharp.

Tugging the door open proved that it was unlocked and a familiar face greeted him upon entering. She looked more or less pleased to see him. Not entirely, it was Christmas morning, there were other things to be done. Still, Haruki had bothered to show up, and it was time to fill out some paperwork. Probably the thing the man would enjoy most about the whole ordeal. Formal documents were easy to deal with. A child was not.

Still the casual greetings were said and a few forms produced. It took a while to write out the documents in full, but eventually he set the pen down after a final signature was written an let out an internal sigh. Finally finished. Now the next part, the woman would be going over every little detail while he waited in turn. Another brief eternity in which he prayed the child wouldn't wake up at home. He'd taken the time to make sure the raven's alarm was turned off, but aside from that he was hoping to an extent. Afterall, how would the boy react to waking up in an empty house? He could only imagine it wouldn't be a positive one.

So when the woman finally looked up a brief smile flitting on her face, the lines momentarily seeming to face to show a more youthful portrait of her, then gone again as business took over. "Everything seems in order."

Of course it was, Haruki rarely forgot anything. If he did it was simply a slip up and he'd be able to add it back in a moment later. It wasn't as if he lacked the knowledge on the subject. Mind you, he kept such comments to himself. Best not to prolong the morning further. "Wonderful." He sounded less than an enthusiastic about the whole thing, but he managed to at least look neutral.

It was pleasing enough fo the woman as she quickly plucked up the paper worked and tapped it on the desk to tidy the edges then set it aside. "Shall we go get him then?" A brief nod and the two started on down the familiar hall. A turn here, a few more doors passed. Once more before the similar door as the woman held up a hand for silence. As if it was needed, the other man rarely spoke. Still, she carefully turned the knob and stepped in. This time another child occupied the room as well as the infant. Both seemed to be asleep at the moment. Well it was still a bit early. They'd also likely had some trouble sleeping, afterall... they'd been looking forward to Christmas too.

A few near silent steps as Haruki waited for the woman outside. Cautious hands carefully slipping under the dozing form to lift him up. One hand carefully tucking he cloth back around him to keep the temperature the same, an attempt to keep the room quiet. A hushed yawn and half lidded eyes opening as the attempt obviously failed, the child starring at the woman as he tried to adjust to the world of reality again. A hastier snatch at the staff that had been resting besides the boy after shifting his weight into one arm. Then quickly as she could without making much noise she was out of the room again, motioning her head to get the man to close the door for her before Phace could speak up.

Click, once more shut with only the muffled sound of the latch fell into place to hold it where it was in the frame.

Red-head thing and the lady. What were they doing here? This early no less. A yawn escaped the child unwillingly as his mind tried to wrap around what was going on. Maybe music box was there too. Though after a few more blinks to adjust his eyes the infant found that no such luck was to be granted. The hall was empty aside for the three of them. So what came next was an obvious action for one left out of the loop, even if he wouldn't comprehend if they stopped to explain it. "Mmnng?" Well that little cry got their attention.

The woman dropped her head closer to the child as if being on his level would make it easier for him to comprehend what she was going to say. "You're going home." The boy only stared at her as cluelessly as before, before yawning again and rubbing a fist sloppily over one of his eyes. The words hadn't hit home, but it didn't matter much. Perhaps it was b etter that the child didn't realize he'd been an orphan, certainly it would be better in the long run. She held out the staff to the man with one hand while mentally starting to prepare her goodbyes.

Haruki took the object with only minor curiosity. Obviously it was the child's if it was to come, but why a child had such a thing... Well he hadn't a clue. Obviously it wasn't ordinary, but what was? He simply nodded in acceptance and let the woman have her farewells to the soon to be leaving charge. She'd quickly directed that they start walking with a casual flick of her wrist to start the man down the hall. A few quiet noises that seemed rather cliche issuing from the pair behind him as he strode along. It would be over soon, though not truly.

The child could only stare as the woman babble down to him, a mixture of sadness and happiness alternating on her face. She seemed both excited, but also regretful of what was to come. Things he couldn't comprehend. The voices seemed not to care enough about the statements as she went on, for they remained mute. No rule was in question, there was no need to remind the child of it's place.

A few more minutes had brought them to the entrance hall again, the woman giving the child a last hug. "Have a good life, Phace." The woman finally said before carefully handing over the still baffled child to his new father.

The boy truly didn't understand. A mouth opened as he was shifted from one set of arms to the other. An entirely different feel. Before the carrier had been a veteran with children, the new person seemed a bit akward. As if he was just adjusting to the idea of holding a child. Still, after a moment he found out part of why. The man had been trying to drag a blanket loose from a bag he'd had with him. One to keep the cool snow from causing problems for the infant. Which made him all too warm in the heated orphanage and a frown appeared on Phace's face. Ears flopping back a bit at the discomfort. Though it didn't last long, a few last exchanges he didn't comprehend and turning to the big door.

Then a blast of cold air as it was opened and out into the world filled with white and gray. Along with an array of other colors.

The voices still didn't seem to have much to stay. Baffling, hadn't they mumbled something about meant to happen before? Was this meant to happen too? He just didn't understand.

A yawn escaped the child as he blinked a bit. The cold chill that had been forcing him to huddle further into the warm folds of the blanket has subsided a bit ago. Now he was greeted with a new sight. The pale hallway with glass panes along the side. Outside a pale white drifted down in the morning lights. He didn't see where it met the ground though, only the stream of flakes falling. It didn't mean much to him, but obviously the pair weren't on the first floor. Still, the red head seemed to know where he was going, quick steps taken along before he turned. The windows fell away as he did, vanishing around the corner as they moved further down a hall.

Then the man began to slow and finally came to a stop at a door, waking the teal haired boy further as he was moved from being balanced in both arms to only one. Now resting in the crook of his new guardian's arm he was given the few of a plain brow door that was soon opened. Within he was greeted with a fairly plain view. Classic living with a touch of paranoid cleanliness. It looked like something in a casual living magazine. Nothing too fancy, nothing out of place. Minor perfection. Even the miniature pine tree was decorated with the same care. As if someone took the time to measure where each ornament should be placed. Such was the theme, for nothing could be out of place. It was the will of the household adult afterall.

A few more near silent steps before the child was deposited on a couch for the time being. The blanket carefully taken off and set aside to allow Phace some movement. That taken care of Haruki turned to pull off his own winter gear, quickly tucking it away in a closet as neatly as was possible before anything could drip and ruin his picture perfect environment. Boots near the door were they wouldn't make too much of a mess. Then back to the topic at hand, final preparations.

Phace had only started to doze off again in his new spot before he was plucked up again. Not so gently either. The boy made a muffled complaint at being disturbed before he found himself once more carried off for some odd ritual.

This time it was a bit of groom. A comb through his hair to remove the mild case of bedhead and then a change of clothes. Obviously pajamas weren't suitable for the time being as he was dressed in a somewhat ornate outfit. Nothing too uncomfortable, but it was a bit odd. A bit more than his usual casual look was all. Not that he cared much, he was more interested in going back to sleep and becoming more irrate about the constant disturbances with each minute.

Once more, up in the air as they moved back to the first room. From the fresh smelling nursery room to the living room once more. This time he wasn't set on the couch, but instead his guardian sat in the chair opposite the couch. Then he was set down on his lap and a quiet sigh was released.

"All done." It was a quiet bit of speech, one that meant little to Phace, but obviously signaled something. Seeing as the man hadn't spoken once until now it had to mean something. Though the instinctive excitement quickly faded as the dark lighting's suggestion took root again. A yawn once more as the boy shifted to nuzzle down to doze once more. Whatever it was could wait. At least for now.

What seemed like only a moment had passed before a quiet voice woke the boy again. This one vaguely familiar, from some memory. Still, it wasn't so inviting as to cause instant attention, the child simply shifted to try and drown it out once more before he was nudged up by a hand so he was sitting. The support alone kept him from toppling back over as he finally started to open his eyes, a yawn trying to work it's way through him again.

The lights were on now and the other voice was talking more. Then a reply as the boy started to try and focus in on things. Finally he spotted the source of the new noise, the black skinned bird thing from before. Music box, that's who it was. He sleepy smile worked it's way on his face as a warm feeling ran through him at the thought of music. A good feeling, yes he liked music. Music Box was good. Though he wasn't singing right now, he looked rather surprised.

"It was a surprise."

"But-" A pause. "Why?" Obvious confusion as the raven tugged slightly at the end of his nightshirt. "I-I mean... but..."

"Well, you jut seemed lonely." And that was all the explaination the boy was going to get. Afterall, it wasn't as if Haruki was the perfect parent.

Revon blinked at the bit, frowning. "I...did?" He trailed off quietly not sure what to say at that. He hadn't really thought about being alone, just that... his brother was angry with him. Wondering how to make his brother happy again. Nothing more. So, why would he seem lonely? He was just upset about Keivlos.

A brief nod was all he offered in response, feeling he'd done enough nice parent work for the time being. It wasn't as if he'd signed up to be Revon's guardian afterall. He hadn't wanted to do the whole good caretaker thing, it was just part of his job. "So, are you going to help him with his presents?" If there was one thing that might get Revon from stressing over his brother for a while it was it was helping someone else out. Or following an order. Which fit the current suggestion quite well.

"Er... a-ah. Yea." He quickly babbled, releasing the ends of his shirt to reach out for the infant. "Y-you got him presents t-to?" A stupid question, but still one he asked without much hesitation as he took his new sibling from Haruki's arms.

"Yes is the correct word." A momentary pause as he handed over Phace to the child. "And yes, he has some things to open as well." Was the prompt followup as the man leaned back again. Hopefully this would ease up the melancholy that had been settling over the house. As much as he hated to admit it, he was somewhat used to Revon having more energy. It hadn't been the same since the fight and move.

So there was a bit of a Christmas wish even from someone who was more prone to mutter a 'bah humbug.' Let things be as they should be.

It was time ago for the children to gather. Once more around the old man as they had before. Not for a sweet voice, for his age shown more in his words than ever on his face. Not for a the show, for certainly such a frail thing moved as little as possible. Nay, there was a treat far more sweet than that to be given. Far more enticing than even a sugared treat or a day off of school. The children knew this and those that didn't were told the rumors. For the village had gossip regarding the old man, the herald. Regarding the tales he spun and wove into great images. Rumors that they were true.

For had it not come to pass that years after the tale some sign so individual so similar did roam down the path. Had they not seen a princess or two? Perhaps a troll in such likeness it was uncanny. Some claimed he was a prophet rather than an old weaver. Others did say he was a demon of sorts. Most just believed him a herald to the news that would come. So as each story unfolded it gained the title of a Herald's Tale in the village. For it was not everyday he spun those stories of history no other's knew, nay, it was a rare event. And once more that event was to begin... for today he had started as always...

"What is man to do when it can no longer control what it makes?" Silence met the old man as his hoarse voice washed over the audience before him. None wished to speak for fear he'd start again and some word would be lost. For certainly he wasn't the loudest of all humans. "Is anything truly good or evil?" Once more a question was posed. Once more silence.

"Well perhaps you'll have an answer after hearing this..."

It began on the Day of Hymn.

All were to attend the sermon, it was law to attend. Death came to those who chose not to come. Such was the law. For Tiraleth the goddess was said to be a harsh ruler so said the church, so was the truth. For that was how things were. Their word was law, for it was the word of Tiraleth. There need be no questioning it. If anything, it was for the simple reason that questioning the goddess was to be considered blasphemy. Blasphemy was also treated with the death sentence. There was no trial of course. Your trial was simply the word of the head priest, Alekaleth, and if he deemed you guilty, you would be punished for the crime.

Thus was the law of Endov. Such was the fate of Endov.

But it all began there on the Day of Hymn, and it would all end there on the Day of Hymn.

Tiraleth was to be sung a song of such respect, such a prideful song of her utter perfection was to be sung by all in the village. This was the decreed law. So when the family did not show and it was brought to Alekaleth's attention, it was as if all hell would break lose. For he simply claimed that the goddess would not stand for such lack of faith, that the heathens would have to be purged before her wrath befell them all. So it became not only the church's business, but the town's. A march of fear to that door by a mob run by tyranny and fear. A march that never achieved the goal of purging.

For it was not negligence to the goddess which greeted the head priest, but rather a gift from her. For that was what the crazed man proclaimed it to be. A gift of a child. A child that the sweet lady herself had given to them for their utter devotion. This child was to be their personal sign of the lady, her hand of sorts.

So it was said, so it would be. For his word was the law.

But of course, this child was not ready to be such an important figure. For how could a mere human have the title of God's Hand? No... there had to be some changes made before this little gift was ready. So without a word the two parents were forgiven. Left in their home. The price they paid was that of a child they would never know, a child who's fate had become that of the town. Something ruled by Alekaleth.

But that fate would be told another day.

( To be continued... )

Dragons in the Snow
(Chesai & Phace )

Dark Fire Angel
A girl remain crouched at the side of the park, near a tree, her hand making odd motions above the snow, her finger trailing figures here and there. Slowly, a picture was forming in the snow, where her finger passed; lines upon lines, upon lines, upon lines... a bird was slowly being formed by them, a small sizzling noise heard whenever her finger came in contact with the frozen water.

It was... interesting, to say the least.

Tell truth, Chesai held some sort of strange fascination for the snow; it didn't make her feel cold in the least. In fact, that much was obvious by the clothes she wore, the ribbons of her dress falling freely against her partially bare legs, her shoeless feet having left indentations in the otherwise unharmed snow. It was winter, and yet the girl seemed dressed as if it were spring; not only hat, but her flushed cheeks seemed to signal she was in fact not suffering due to this, and was for some odd reason, quite warm.

Finally, she seemed content with whatever she had been doing and stood up to admire her work; there, drawn into the snow was the picture of a bird, with spread wings, and a long tail, flying freely. Or at least, she HOPED it looked like that, because tell truth, she'd come to note she wasn't the best of artists. She'd attempted to draw a dragon that morning using Lunden's crayons, and when Shinzu had seen it, he'd said something keen to 'Why is that cat dancing on one leg? ... and why does it have demon wings?' and thus she'd abandoned her attempt to draw.

Tilting her head to one side, the girl rolled her eyes slightly; she had to admit her phoenix in the snow looked more like a flying pig. Alas. It'd been interesting... the snow melted at her touch. It was amusing. It'd been worth the trip to the park, she decided.

Raja
Fresh air was supposed to be good for children, or at least for the normal person in general. That was the basis for todays trip out in the cold. Well and the fact Phace had started howling like the world was about to end when Revon had decided to play that game. For the sake of saving them all a headache the red-head had quickly tugged a jacket into the boy's form, add a scarf and a blanket to the mix and you had a safely bundled baby. Well, it looked that way anyway.

As soon as the door had shut out the noise of the game Phace had quieted to only an annoyed scowl as if some horrible act had occured. Ears flattened against his head as if he'd been wronged and scolded for it. It was all the teacher could assume as the boy didn't speak yet, aside from the occaisional garble of noises and of course the most clear form of communication. Screaming. Oh yes, he got the idea from that particular reaction very quickly. No dancing games for Revon unless he kept the volume very low. They didn't need more screeching at home. It was a small enough living area without the group being remindered of it. It didn't help that Haruki had the great knowledge that before long a dragon would just so happen to be joining them.

Perhaps he could arrange to have it stay in the main building at most times. He knew that Revon was to get a black dragon and the nature they tended to hold. Not exactly what you wanted hanging around an infant.

It had been long enough since leaving the horrible sound that made the rules, those little chiming voices, start babbling about laws and such things that the young boy couldn't understand like crazy. The noise had seemed deafening to him and he'd wanted it to stop, to drown it out. Of course he'd taken the classic child's way out. Screaming fixed many problems and once more had proven to fix things. For now the world was quiet, the voices had hushed, and he need only watch the light reflect off the crystalized water. A pretty world to behold, a near silent one no less. Only the sound of the red-head's footsteps broke the quiet, that and the hum of an occasional passing car. Nothing to upset the balance. Nothing to bring joy, nothing to diminish it. Neutrality in itself was a form of borderline bliss.

Though it didn't last so long, for the world only left one in a state so long. The child had only begun to n** at one corner of the blanket in slight boredome when curiosity presented itself. A girl, yet not. The baby blinked trying to adjust to the odd vision before him. It almost felt like a buildup of energy whirled about the girl, yet it wasn't so much a feeling as a sight. A balance to it, yet not. Then the blanket shifted too close to the boy's eye and he cosed one, the pale light that seemed to envelope the girl vanishing with it. just a normal child again. Then reopening and it was back. Curious indeed.

Or perhaps just interesting. He wanted to understand it, because this one was different than the music box, named Revon, and the red-haired man who frowned a lot. Neither of them had an aura. So with a triumphant call he managed to free one arm enough to reach out in the direction a the startlingly dressed girl. That just might work.

Haruki hadn't paid much attention to the girl behind a mental note that she'd catch her death until Phace's reaction. Why was he interested in her? If she'd been singing perhaps, but aside from the child's exclaimation little broke the still snowy wonderland's spell. Still, it did serve to explain something new about the boy? Perhaps he had a fascination with colorful things..? That, or perhaps it was simply she was the only thise within twenty feet of them that wasn't a stark white or muted gray. It was really a tossup.

Dark Fire Angel
The park around her was near silent; the birds did not chirp and there was no wind to move the branches. Chesai'd come to the conclusion she liked this peace and quiet; it wasn't deafening, but rather comforting, and she'd found out that if she closed her eyes ad listened deeply, she could make out sounds that hadn't really been there before.

Or sounds she'd been too busy ignoring in favour of sight seeing.

Either way, the girl embraced herself slowly then, her eyes closing as she simply listened, wings arching to envelope her form slightly before one strange sound caught her attention. She wasn't even sure why it called to her; it was the sound of a baby, not far away. A gurgle, or a call, she wasn't sure, and as she opened her eyes and slowly turned her head to face the red haired man and baby, she found she still didn't know why that particular sound had been interesting.

However, the more she stared at that baby as seconds passed, the more she thought he was someone familiar in an odd sense of the word. It took a while for it to click at her, however, when it did, her eyes widened for a mere moment before she decided that perhaps approaching them would be interesting. You see, this strange teal haired child had a similar feeling about him that... that blond kid she'd seen at the wreckage site; the encounter with the blond boy hadn't gone all that bad, and she'd been able to discover a few things, indirectly. This young one was different to the blond in many ways however; for one, the aura around him wasn't black and icy, like Ink's had been but different, more soothing, and it wasn't as contradictory against her own flaming one.

She was curious. Perhaps by nature; she wasn't sure. She'd only known 'herself' for two days after all.

Colorful indeed, her clothes seemed to make her stand out against the winter wonderland, however, it wasn't only her clothes; as she approached, perhaps both man and child were able to appreciate the slight bit of heat she gave off. It was enough to keep her warm and cause the snow which she tread upon to melt as she finally reached the sidewalk, "Good morning," it wasn't enthusiastic, but rather, a polite greeting to the man before she crouched to gaze at the child, lifting a hand, extending one finger before Phace, "He's lovely, sir; is he yours?" she held that one finger in front of the baby, almost as if curious over what he'd do, her wings arching up before flapping once, fanning them with warm air.

Raja
The joy of children. They did everything in their power to complicate things. A new conclusion that the man had come to as the girl approached. It couldn't have been something simple as a stray clump of snow falling from a tree, or perhaps a car rolling by. Nothing that would be explainable ever fascinated a child. They always chose something out of his control to want to look into and cling to.

Even if it was oddly warm. Which was explaining the lack of suitable clothing, but didn't help the case much. He'd still been drug into a conversation by the child's antics. Perhaps earplugs where in order. To avoid further walks and possible situations akin to this in the future. Though the idea was dashed as he realized finding some for a feline would be near impossible. Especially in infant sized. "Good morning."

Neutral. That would be more akin to the feeling about the boy. Good and evil were something defined by the rulers. Not those who followed the rules. One could stray to either path as the rules were set forth, for rules too had little bearing on good and evil. They defined them, but were neither. It was imply interpretation that could direct it to one or the other. Nothing more complicated than that. Still, the concept was lost to most, the child included.

He didn't care so much about type or reason for it. There was a interesting sight to see with this girl, one he didn't understand much, but one he liked. For it was unique? He'd not seen anything like it before and as one hand was extended to him, a single finger to be precise, the boy didn't hesitate to reach out at it. Clumsily as he did, he'd almost caught it when the wave of warm air stopped the action. Eyes closed as he tried to comprehend to the heat before the previous chill. Even with the new adjustment that came with her being close a direct brush had been a bit of a shock. As a few blinks as the slightly scrunched up face finished it's reaction and a smile dawned upon it. Fire was warm, but unless it burned you it wasn't frightening.

Thus, as abruptly as he'd stopped in reaching for the girl he rocked forward once more to try and wrap a first around the closest source of he heat. The lawmakers didn't seem to mind afterall, they were quiet.

The exchange was rather curious, but nothing that would set off the same reaction in the man. He'd been around dragon eggs bathed in fire and explained them to children afterall. A girl that emitted heat wasn't too strange. Alright, it was, but it wasn't something worth shock over. It was simply a peculiar thing to come by. "Yes and no." The child was not his own, heaven forbid he ever learn the true burden of parenthood, but certainly under his care. "His name is Phace, I'm his guardian." Because saying father was beyond how far the relationship was allowed to go.

Dark Fire Angel
It didn't seem like the girl was all too interested in the man either; in fact, her grey hued gaze was fixed upon the child whose fingers stretched to touch her own, only to stop short. The feel about him was so similar, and yet so very different from that of the blond boy she'd met; the notion wasn't unsettling however, but rather, comforting in a way she couldn't describe. There were so many things Chesai seemed to be unable to comprehend yet, things that should have been natural for a child her age... things that were usual, familiar and yet she couldn't quite grasp.

She had a mind, and she had some 'power', as Shinzu had called it, yet all this was new to her; even her own mind was a new expansion to explore, and though no longer blank, but filled with new memories she'd been making, it was still something new. The power she was only beginning to dwell upon was even stranger, and something her Guardian had said she should never seek; it'd come to her, on it's own accord, when she was ready.

She wasn't ready yet. She knew that much, and thus she didn't seek, but patiently waited. Even if patience wasn't exactly a strong point of her personality.

"Ah..." the single word was breathed in response to the red haired man's claim, "Guardian, you say," her eyes were still upon the child however, a slow smile coming upon her lips as he reached for her finger; she opened her hand and offered him her palm instead, finally turning to gaze up at the strange man, "My name is Chesai," she offered in return, "My guardian isn't here with me; he's back home," she needn't be told just what Phace was; that single word 'Guardian', which she'd heard first from the blond boy, and later had been explained by her own, was reference enough to what the feline eared boy was.

It was that same way she hoped that single phrase she'd uttered was hint enough for the man to understand what she was; true, she'd not told him of what nature she was, but then again, she didn't feel it to be necessary... it wasn't probably the little teal haired boy would care whether she was a phoenix a fire angel, or a dragon. Children were easier to understand, and understood in much easier ways than adults did.

Chesai was unsure how she knew this. She just did. At the same time, her own way of thinking, her way of talking and her way of calculating and evaluating situations was nowhere like that of a child of her age. It seemed more mature; as if the mind of someone older had been placed in a body that didn't reflect the true age, "My Guardian likes the snow. He says he used to live up, high in snow covered mountains... he says he used to listen to the wind there," the words were meant for the man to hear, but were directed at Phace, as if telling the boy a story. Suddenly however, she smiled again, reaching up to his head, "You've got cute ears," she stopped herself before touching them however, "Do you mind?" her question was asked almost as if she expected the child to fully understand and either refuse her or permit her to go on. It must've been strange to behold.

Raja
Fingers never quite reached the other and instead played upon the larger, and easier to aim for, palm. Larger things were much easier to grasp when it took some work to even reach for them, much less catch what you wanted.

Chesai. It didn't mean much to the infant, but warm thing was Chesai. The warm thing with wings like music box was Chesai. Though likely she would remain simply known as warm thing until the child learned the worth of names. The voices never made a fit over the shortcuts the infant took.

The man simply watched, feeling no need to protect the boy. The girl was gentle enough and obviously the heat wasn't burning the boy. He knew how to protest when he disliked something, Haruki knew that well. So as the girl explained a similar position he nodded lightly and ticked the name away into a file of information mentally. Anoher child who's home came through adoption. Not such an out of place thing obviously, he often found that children would rarely stay with origional parents. As well, children were sometimes born through less than natural means. As was the case with Revon. With no real parents by blood it was only reasonable to believe that adoption and a guardian was a way to ensure their care.

As to the girls actual species or origin? He couldn't be bothered to care much. She was what she was. How she came to be mattered not. Just so long as she didn't complicate his life further. Though he did mentally note that she seemed a bit young to be out on her own. Not that it was any of his business. "I see, I'm sure Phace is pleased to meet you as well." Not so much for the man, but the child seemed quite taken by the interesting girl.

Phace wouldn't have known any of the names to call her. She was warm and glowed slightly. Two interesting things alone, they were a definitely more than intriguing when merged. Not so much like, as simply interesting though. Was he allowed to like something? The question was directed more toward the voices on a whim, though no response came. Obviously they only existed when he way on the threshhold of offending some law they had. They didn't exist to serve him, it was the other way around. Or so it seemed. Not that Phace truly realized it, just some odd recollection that threw in a note which was lost to the infant.

All he cared much about was the creature before him. Delicate wings and kind nature. That was what mattered.

When the hand lifted toward his head the bi-colored gaze followed it a moment. Mouth slightly open as if to speak. Though perhaps it was simply a childlike awe in how she could move it so smoothly a form of envy. A foolish smile at the comment. It was so much an understanding as a reaction to words in his direction. Even if the voices heralded the rules and proclaimed that he could not ask for attention. Being showered with it willingly was something he adored. For what individual did not like being fawned over? ...Haruki excluded.

The man paid only the attention of one on the outside as the girl explained a bit about her guardian. How ironic that a child with a natural heat to it had been thrust upon this person. Perhaps the one who performed such an action had a similar sense of humor to his own boss. A twisted one.

"If anything he thrives on attention." And was not petting a form of attention? Knowing Phace he'd be overjoyed with the idea rather than offended or even upset..

A few hours, a day. It didn't matter. It seemed a lot longer when you were panicking. Mind you, it was mainly the young raven who'd panicked at finding that Phace was missing. Mainly. The infant's guardian had remained as composed as usual, a blank expression to mask any possible inner turmoil. Such was the man's way.

Still, even after the young boy had once more been found in the park Revon hadn't calmed down. Sure, he'd found his brother, but he'd still lost him. Such was unforgiveable. Seeing as his little brother was partially is responsibility and it was a failure. Haruki hadn't blamed him, no one had, but he could still blame himself for it. Even if everything turned out fine.

Phace was in one piece, unharmed, and home. But he had to make sure it didn't happen again. Which meant ensuring that he didn't leave the boy alone in the park anymore. Even for a minute.

The boy sighed slightly as he slumped further into the couch, watching his sibling toy with a set of blocks on the floor. The infant hadn't seemed to bothered with the whole affair. If anything he'd been a little tired and not much else. Though he was likely too young to realize what had happened, right? That was part of the problem wasn't it? Phace didn't realize how dangerous it was to let people do that, he'd thought it was a game. Afterall, he'd only been with thema while. He'd ben jumbled between families before, he might have been used to being tosed around. An unappealing thought, but one the bird couldn't discount.

Sometimes it really was a bad thing Haruki had him read all those things. It made it so hard not to rationalize things he didn't want to know. Which might explain why his guardian was often in such a foul mood. He knew too much.

The boy sighed, slumping down even further until he'd slid off to sit on the floor. Getting older had some bad things too it... he started to understand things and other's became more confusing. In general he'd learned how complicated life could get.

The movement of music box's action managed to catch the infant attention away from the bright blocks before him, which were currently stacked at random. bi-coloured eyes shifted to the darker skinned bird briefly to see if this was to become some sort of game. Though his expression said something different, a mixture or confusion and... despair? At least he didn't look happy, and if he wasn't happy he didn't make music. Not that there was much he could do. One thing he lacked was the knowledge to fix these problems. Even the quiet hum he sometimes noted weren't helping.

Not that the case of worry lasted long. After a brief glance that said there was little importance to behold he was back to the blocks and his own world. Stacking the things as best he could before they once more toppled over into a mess. It was troublesome really, things seemed to like falling apart, but there wasn't much to do but rebuild it again. So back to putting things back how they belonged was the task of the day.
