Vale Acquisition --- Solo Roleplay

It was late when footsteps marched tiredly up three flights of steps in small apartment complex. They came to a halt in front of room thirty-five before a figure with rich cerulean hair leaned her forward on the door, taking deep breaths. Her cheeks were red from the crisp winter air and from the drinks she had shared with her family at the New Year's celebration.

After a few seconds, dark gold amber eyes peered at the wooden door before being pushed off by tired bare arms. The girl knew she had been out of her mind to take heed to what her friends and family said about dressing up for the occasion. She had ended up freezing her little butt in the cold as they had waited for the count to New Years, but she had to admit that the outfit had a wonderful effect on her social life. Shaking her head and grinning like a chesire cat, the college student pulled out her keys from her back pocket and opened the door to her small and dark apartment.

Flipping on the lights, Yiiei trudged to her room in a daze with mail in hand. Her eyes lit up at the sight of her small bed and she quickly jumped onto it, spilling her letters all over the bed and bedroom floor. As the girl turned to lay more comfortably on her side she noticed a letter from work and she frowned. She had not done anything wrong that she knew of, at least she hoped she had not. And there were no complaints of her that she had heard though there had been some comment on her previous absence, but that had already been taken care of.

She sat up on her bed with a frown, pushing the locks of cerulean hair out of her face as she picked up the envelope. The plain white envelope made the neatly printed writing of her name stand all the more to her eyes before she tore open the letter while bitting her lower lip. She was nervous and she did not know why.

Welcome to Vale of Earth!
Welcome new Observer to Vale of Earth. We appreciate your application and are pleased to accept you with eager anticipations. This Message ensures that you have now successfully received your Specimen to study. Please read the Newbie Walkthrough before doing anything else. Once you have familiarized yourself with that, you are more than welcome to head into your now unlocked Laboratory. Your Specimen is waiting for you inside.

Here is your Vale Issued ID Card, you need this to move around the building. Without it, you would be completely locked out, or in. You may direct-link to it.

Yiiei sat on her bed staring at the letter in disbelief. She could not believe it. Sure, she had applied to become an Observer but she had not actually thought that she would be accepted since she had not background what so ever with flora of any sorts other than the ones she bought and ate from the grocery store. Her mouth was dropped open, opening and closing, gaping at the letter like a fish would their own reflection. But the surprise quickly faded before she jumped to her feet and ran through her apartment whooping in joy.

Coming to a dead stop in her kitchen, she ran a hand through her hair before muttering to herself in a quiet low voice, “Who to tell first?!”

Adopting an Apprentice --- Thread Roleplay

Yiiei
Head bobbing to the sound of music from her headphones, the new Observer strolled out of her laboratory after spending the day organizing her new work space. It was still pretty empty, but as much it had been before. She had brought in her own laptop and small entertainment system as well as a digital alarm clock. The college student hadn't known what else to bring in at the moment considering her laboratory was equipped to take of her charge, Eury. She had spent a good hour just watching the plant and once in awhile stroking the terracotta pot affectionately.

Deciding to take a lunch break, the cerulean haired Observer left her Vale, knowing that it would not be sprouting legs to run away anytime soon. As she walked down the corridors. Thinking about what else she would need to do, her feet led her with a mind of their own, bringing her not to the cafeteria but to the greenhouse.

Dumbfounded with herself, she stood at the threshold of the entrance looking around with her amber eyes.

Alinedra
Ali had been hard at work all morning. Edwin was out for the day in meetings, so the greenhouse was all hers. He of course had left a laundry list of things to do, but Alinedra didn't mind, knowing she'd be doing them regardless.

Throwing on the music, she got to work immediately. Her job in the biodome had gotten to be quite routine. Not in a boring way, each plant they dealt with was unique in it's own right. Ali enjoyed the physical labor, the smell of fresh potting soil.... but she was beginning to get bored with the same day in and day out routine of it. She thought about asking Edwin to throw her in the greenhouses every once in a while, but she thought it might offend him, as it would appear Ali didnt' like it here.

So, to the beat of random techno, Alinedra sighed, and got back to replanting the random perenials she was in charge of today.

Yiiei
She had looked the greenhouse, walking the path through the built-in building as she had once had when she had been a helper. Thinking about the times of the past of just a short few months ago when she had started working at Vale of Earth.

Her thoughts would have consumed her for hours had it not been for her stomach that began to growl. Blushing to herself, she rubbed her stomach with one hand as she made her way out of the greenhouse and back on her way towards the cafeteria. Her amber eyes darted back and forth from side to side as if on the look out for someone though not knowing why.

As she neared a T-intersection, the cerulean haired girl noticed that at the opposite side of the direction to the cafeteria would take her to the BioDome. She stood there for a good few seconds debating with herself on whether or not she would want to venture towards the dome or towards food until her curiosity won out. Her feet led her further and further away from the food that her stomach was calling for.

Official Introduction of Laboratory NPC's.

___The sound of constant bickering accompanied with marching footsteps entered the commissary long before the makes of the noises did. A tall young woman with bouncing blonde hair put her hands on her hips as they reached the doorway and squared off. Stomping her heeled foot she asserted herself jarringly about the complexities of gene splicing. After saying her peace, she walked into the room, her face still red with frustration. An even taller young man followed in after her and muttered something you could swear sounded like, "Sure gene splicing is complicated but what about washing the windows of an enormous fishbowl?" She shot him a look, and you can tell from his demeanor that he's doing this purely for the sake of making her angry, the crooked grin giving away his delight.

___Researcher Uenoh'ai stood up from her coffee and doughnut twist to walk in front of them. Holding her hands behind her back she tilted her head down slightly and murmured to them, and from the look of their shrinking ego's you assumed it was condescending.
___Turning around to face you, she pulled her hair out of her face before holding her hands behind her back again. Uennie nodded to her left and they stepped in next to her.
___"These are the highest-ranked Employees that are not Observers. They are not Observers because they wanted to be, neutral, I suppose." She motioned forward for the man to step up.
___"This is Edwin Batyon. He is our BioDome Caretaker and Engineer. All those beneath Technician status may report to him. This-" Uenoh'ai stopped briefly so the woman could step forward. "-is Jennine Claret-Sinai. She has authority over Technicians and Apprentices. Please be sure your clothes are always in order when reporting to her. All others, wear working clothes, neat and clean, but clothes you won't cry about if a little dirt gets on them. We will soon have issued uniforms but until then, just be neat."

___The Researcher reached into her pockets and tossed a small ID on a nearby table in front of her. "The new ID for the aspiring Apprentice. Once you have picked up the ID please report to Jennine immediately, and good luck. All others, either clean or go mess around in the BioDome with Edwin, I'm sure you'll have fun there." The Researcher went back to her coffee and gently rocked a nearby stroller back and forth.

Alinedra
Alinedra came forward after everyone had moved away from the table. Grabbing the identification badge gingerly, she smiled to herself. Things were going exactly the way she wanted. Her classes were going great, and it was time she put some of that knowledge to a true test.

Her only hope was to find someone to take her on board, show her the ropes. She wondered who it would be, and as she approached Jennine, she prayed it was someone she could get along with.

" Excuse me, Jennine? I think i was supposed to report to you..." Ali shuffled her foot a moment until she remembered the warning. Bringing herself to a straight pose, she smiled slightly as the woman turned to her.

" Aaah yes. I have just the teacher for you. I havn't approached her about it yet, but i'm sure she's up to the job. For now, why don't you make your want to the biodome. Edwin tells me you've done great work there. I'll send her along when I find her." Turning to go out of the room, the woman turned back. " By the way.... your shoe is untied."

Ali took one more look at her new badge, and took off to the toward the Biodome, humming quietly to herself.

Yiiei
The BioDome was as she had left it. Not that it had been so long ago that a lot would change in span of a few weeks. Still, the young woman was surprised by the tugging at her memories as she wandered the path within the BioDome. She hadn't had the opportunity to work in the building too long since she had taken a leave of absence shortly after her promotion but still the place was a warm memory.

Her rich amber eyes searched the surfaces of the area as she tried to see if there was anyone in. Perhaps one of the employees or perhaps even Edwin. Edwin had been nice to her as a supervisor unlike the blond Jenine who hadn't left a very good first impression on the cerulean haired girl.

Her hands brushed the branches and leaves of plants as she walked by though careful of the harmful thorns and such. With the other hand, the new Observer rolled up her lab coat sleeves. It was the middle of winter but being in the BioDome with it's glass ceiling magnifying the heat of the sun, it might as well have been late-spring or early-summer.

Once she reached the center or near so, the girl spun around and searched the area again and muttered to herself, "This place is like a ghost-town."

Alinedra
Bouncing happily into the bio-dome, Ali stopped short, noticing someone there that wasn't Edwin. Lately it had just been herself and Edwin even working in the dome, with so many people off busy in the research labs. She'd liked it that way sometimes, having the quiet, or occassional bad music playing in the background.

"Hey, I didn't expect to see you here. What's up?" Ali said, hoping she wasn't being summoned for skut work in some research wing. She'd been called to clean up a spill the other day, due to a researcher's clumsiness.

Yiiei
Yiiei turned in the direction of the voice and smiled at who she saw. She hadn't seen the red head in some time and after her comment about a ghost-town, the young student was more than happy to reacquaint herself with the young woman. True that she hadn't been close to Alinedra while she had been an employee but still, it was nice to see a familiar face around the sometimes empty-like Vale.

Taking a few steps towards the speaker, the cerulean haired girl replied, "Nothing really. I was just on my way to get something to eat when I got distracted and decided to come visit this place again. I haven't been here in awhile. Its nice to come and look around and see what has changed."

She grinned as she stuffed her hands into her lab coat pockets. Yiiei felt a bit awkward dressed in something so clean while she was in the BioDome but she mentally shrugged the thought of her mind.

Stopping when she was only a couple of feet away from the other young woman, she asked in turn, "What about you? Are you here to work on something?"

Alinedra
Alinedra smiled back at the woman. " I'm always here to work on something. I've been working in here for quite some while. I'm going to miss it, now that i've been promoted. But since i was told to be here till things are figured out for me, i've got a little more time." Throwing back some bangs out of her face, Ali now felt the difference between employees and researchers. They really do belong in a different world, and she just hoped that she'd adjust to it.

"Plus, Edwin's horrible music is definately something to miss." Ali said, and began to laugh a good natured laugh. " I dare say he'll be missing mine as well."

Still giggling, Ali turned to her desk and went to see what list Edwin had left her. Scooping it up, She turned back to Yiiei.

" You want to hang out here for a bit? I've got a nice long list of things to do, and it'd be nice to have some company. That is, if you arn't too busy..." Ali looked at the girl, hoping for a positive response.

Yiiei
Thoughts ran through her mind. She had never really been too close to this co-worker, not to say that she didn't like her, Yiiei just didn't know her very well. They had run into one another a few times in the past and had rarely spoken to one another outside of the working enviroment of the Vale.

She tilted her head of cerulean hair and looked at Alinedra with a blank expression before grinning at her. Sure, her stomach wasn't all too happy with her decision but eh... food can come later.

"Why not? Its been awhile since I've done anything off of Edwin's list of chores." Yiiei walked over to the other woman's side and peered at the list. "So what should we do first?"

Stuffing her hands into her lab coat pocket, she found something there. Her fingers followed the edges of the object and found it to be a folded piece of paper. She frowned inwardly. What was it? Her hand played with the note as the young woman tried to remember what it was about. Though strange that it hadn't yet occured to simply pull it out and read it.

Alinedra
Upon Yiiei's agreement, Ali bounced to action. " Well, we could replant these cacti.... but that's always a prickly chore.' (Ali gave a slight snort at her horrible horrible joke.)' Or, if you want a shorter job, we could go weed the undergrowth area. We had an outbreak last week." Alinedra frowned, remembering Edwin's furious expression when he found out one of the plants had blossomed and seeded without any of their knowledge. " Shouldnt' be too hard, the plants we want to pull look a lot like starting grass, where the undergrowth doesn't. Actually, i should probably suggest that one. Jennine mentioned something about me meeting with someone today, and i don't know when it is, or who it is for that matter. Something about getting apprenticed off."

Taking a deep breath, the girl smiled at Yiiei. Having said that all in one sentance, she was sure she'd scared the woman off. The excitement gets the best of her it seems. She wondered if the woman could even translate any of her babbling.

Yiiei
Yiiei gave a playful look of wonder on whether or not Alinedra was human after all before breaking out into a large grin. Nodding in agreement, she stood back and stretched before looking around the BioDome. Her stretched hands brought out with her the piece of paper she had been toying with.

"Sure thing. Whatever works best for you."

Following Alinedra's lead to where they would be taking care of the undergrowth area, Yiiei fell into step beside the girl. Unfolding the note leisurely, she skimmed the note before raising a brow and reading it through once more.

After having read the note a few times to reassure herself that she had indeed read it correctly and understood the message the first time through, the college student threw back her head of cerulean hair before bursting into laughter. What coincidence!

Alinedra
Alinedra turned toward the girl's sudden outburst. " I know i'm a funny girl.... but i don't usually get that delayed of a reaction...." Ali smiled with a raised eyebrow, expecting to be let in on the joke. Noticing the note that the woman was holding, curiosity got the best of her. " What's that?"

Yiiei
"Oh nothing really. Jenine had left a note in my laboratory about how she wanted to meet with me about something. Not quite sure what." Yiiei eyed the paper for a few seconds before continuing, "I completely forgot about it since I was answering another call... one of hunger."

She laughed lightly and folded the piece of paper. "So I guess then I won't be able to help you much since I need to go and meet her soon." Raising a brow, the girl commented in a joking manner, "Who knows? Maybe I'll be the Observer that you'll be apprenticed to."

Alinedra
Giving a hearty chuckle, Alinedra turned toward the woman. " It could be. However, if it's the Jennine i know, you might want to go now, without dawdling. You know how she is." Giving her a knowing glance, Ali turned around toward her work. " Besides, i've been working in here solo for the last long while. I'll be fine by myself," she added cheerfully," plus, that way i can play my music loud one more time before i have to act all responsible and what not." Laughing, Ali extended a hand to the woman. "It was nice seeing you today though, even if you arn't the one charged with my care, we should get to know each other more."

Yiiei
Accepting Ali's hand, Yiiei smiled and shook it, "True. Thankfully I am no longer under her jurisdiction." Then she paused before continuing, "But I had better go see what she wants before she comes looking for me and brings all hell with her. I'll see you around Ali."

The observer had only just made it out to doors of the BioDome when she ran into the woman herself. Stopping in mid stride, Yiiei watched the blond woman with raised brows, her hands comfortably in her lab coat pockets, waiting. She obliged. The conversation went quickly with sharp voices and as little words as possibly before the two parted ways, Jenine's heels clicking loudly as she marched down the corridors of the Vale. The younger girl gave a short wave as she rolled her eyes before turning around to walk back into the BioDome. She disliked encounters with that woman.

Alinedra
Having seen the small encounter through the window, Ali was glad that the woman had decided not to come in here and bark some order at her. Being in a wonderful mood, it would have harmed the opportunity of the rest of the day. Noticing Yiiei coming back in, Ali looked up and smiled.

"She's not the most pleasant person, but atleast she was blunt. What wonderfully short news did she have for you?" she said, looking up curiously at the observer.

Yiiei
"No she isn't. But strangely enough she did have good news for me." She looked at Ali with a chesire grin, "Apparently I've gotten myself an apprentice. And none of than you for that matter."

Clapping her hands on Ali's shoulders, she tugged the woman towards the doors of the BioDome. "Come my apprentice. You must come and meet Eury."

Alinedra
Alinedra allowed herself to be pulled away from her beloved biodome. As if in a haze, they ended up finally infront of yiiei's office. Ali knew the woman had chatted the whole time, but not a word of it had stuck. Then, before the woman opened the dor, she pulled her aside and stared at the woman in earnest.

" Are you sure? I've really been apprenticed off? This isn't some trick?" With imploring eyes, Ali stared into the other woman's, searching for answers.

Yiiei
Yiiei gave Ali a strange look. Why would she joke about such a serious a matter? She wouldn't take on an apprentice who would be taking care of Eury as a joking matter. With equally searching eyes, the Observer watched Ali before smiling.

"No. This is not a joke. I'm rather serious actually. Though if you prefer to stay at the BioDome then by all means..." Her sentence hung there in the air, her hand gesturing to the door though the other hand was making ways to accessing the laboratory door.

Alinedra
Alinedra took a deep breath. "No. I want to be here. Just still trying to digest the whole promotion thing. Going faster than i expected. Please, carry on."

It was all moving so fast, but Ali just had to remember that this is what she wanted. It's what she's waited for, and this was the process for her ultimate goal. Turning back to Yiiei, she smiled. "I'm fine, lets go meet your Eury. "

Back to Reality --- Solo Roleplay

Yiiei stood in front of her floor length mirror back at her apartment. Surrounded by a soft aura of blue from the sunlight reflecting off the light blue wall, she stared at her reflection. A short girl with a childish face stared back with amber yellow eyes that hinted of darkness. Her hair was a shock of cerulean blue against the ethereal walls, scissors gleamed in her right hands. Behind her was a bed and an open door to the rest of her small apartment. Things were thrown to the ground.

Her eyes closed as she recollected the events of the past few hours. Her parents, being the meddlesome characters they were, had dropped by unannounced to see how their poor daughter was fairing though Yiiei had known better. They had simply visited to check up on her, to make sure that the place she was living at was clean and that there were no dark and dirty secret hidden away in her closet. Searching every nook and cranny of her apartment, her mother had looked for any reason she could find to drag her daughter back home, where she supposedly belonged, while her father sat on her couch talking about how he missed having her around.

When she saw that her mother was going through her kitchen cupboard she snapped. Infuriated, the usually composed college student began to go off on her parents about how she needed to be independent and needed to leave the 'nest' to experience the real world. Hard looks. Those were all she got before her mother started going off how she was irresponsible, going by a silly nickname rather than her real name. Yiiei had begun to clench her hands at that point. Then her father, also a calm and patient man, began to raise his tone at being talked backed at. Angry gestures were made to her hair and eyes as he lectured her on how her appearance alone demonstrated how she was still nothing more than a child, still immature and unprepared for the harsh world.

The rest was a blur as she blocked out her parents simply to keep herself from screaming at the top of her lungs. Both parties parted on sour terms, her parents rigid frames walking out the door as she went to scream into her pillows. She had fallen asleep angry. A few hours had passed before Yiiei woke up to the loud singing of birds. It was spring and she was feeling just as refreshed as mother nature after a harsh winter. Thinking, she had sat in bed for a few minutes before walking off into the kitchen in search of something sharp.

Her mind returned to the present as she flexed the muscles of her right hand, the blades of scissors hissing provokingly. Determined, Yiiei set off to proving her parents wrong as a lock of cerulean hair was cut. A box of dye laid on the unkempt bed as well as a box of plain contacts. It was time to return to who she really was... though the nickname was staying.

"Hmm... I'll have to get a new ID made."

A Baby?! --- Observer's Journal

Feb. 23, 2007

My head hurts.

Quite strange. I swear I had done nothing odd. Truly. I had taken care of the plant to the best of my abilities and at the instructions I could get on caring for a persimmon plant. All the information that I found on the subject mentioned nothing about a change like this. Sure, it did mention that the plant would grow into a tree with a bark prized for being used to make ornamental cabinets in the oriental nations and bear flower then fruit but nothing about this. So how the hell was I suppose to be prepared for such a change?

I remember that I clearly left the terracotta potted plant by the window sill of my bedroom after giving it a good amount of water. There was no sun out but I forget, why not moonlight? Yeah, I know. Its got to do with the whole need for UV light and photosynthesis but that doesn't mean a plant can't appreciate the beauty of the night sky, right? Anyways. I left the plant by the window and headed off to bed. I had had a tiring day with classes then work. I still haven't quite figured out what to research on for my project at the VoE. What am I going to do? I really need to pick something soon. Perhaps I should research a little more on what is currently happening in the botanical world of science? Oh yeah, back to what happened.

There was a dream. I'm a light sleeper so I wake up easily and I also remember my dreams pretty well. Well, this one was rather vivid though now that I try to remember it I can't. Strange. Oh wells. Anyways. The dream made me nearly roll out of bed to break my neck, but luckily I didn't since my feet fell out of the bed first slamming into the wood paneled floor. Pain. It had hurt a lot. So I had gotten up, turned on the lights to make sure that nothing was broken. Nothing was or I had thought except when I looked up at my window sill the terracotta pot was shattered on the floor.

You could probably imagine my reaction. I mean the pot was a good distance away from where I was, all the way across the room. So how did that fall and break when the alarm clock that was right next to me didn't? Want to know how? There was something lying where it had been sitting so I instinctively picked up something, anything, like a pillow, and approached the strange object with reckless caution. I had the pillow raised to swat the thing out the window when I noticed something. It was breathing. And it wasn't an it. It was a baby. A she baby.

Frozen, I had stood there staring with wide eyes as I tried to remember everything about the VoE and the specimens that the observers and researchers were given to care for. I finally understood, well, sort of. Wow. Who would have thought? A baby from a plant? Its ridiculous, but wow. Yeah. I'm at a loss of words. Want to know something thats more amazing? The baby spoke. Yup. No joke. Told me her name was Eury before she went back to sleep. I, being the graceful lady that I am, tripped over my own feet and fell head first towards ground.

I need an aspirin. A lot of aspirin.

- Yiiei.

Must Have Caffeine - Cancer Awareness Thread RP

Alinedra
Alinedra sat at her desk in the corner of Yiiei's lab working on her latest essay. It addressed the ramifcations of genetic tampering in flora, and as exciting a topic it was, Ali couldn't help but daydream about the day when she'd have her own vale to tend to. Eury was asleep in her crib, and Yiiei herself was catching up on her paperwork. Every once in a while a muffled curse, or mumbled chatter could be heard from the observer, and Alinedra knew not to bother her when she was this in depth with her research.

Giving a stretch, Ali fixed her ponytail, throwing the few strands that had escaped back in. Getting up, and walking out, she called after Yiiei to see if she wanted anything. So engrossed was her boss, that she didn't' even answer. Giving a resigned shrug, she went out into the hall and made her way to the staff lounge. Surely someone was there that would entertain her for a few minutes to break the monotony.

Alinedra
Walking down th elong hallway, Alinedra's mind wandered to the other workers at the Vale. It'd been a while since she'd run into anyone. She wondered how Kyo was doing, heading up that new wing of his. It had seemed just yesterday that they were playing in the dirt together out at the greenhouses, or sweeping the floors, or even getting lost lurking in areas they probably shouldn't have been in. This place was so secretive, sometimes it made her wonder if she'd always not know half the people that worked there.

Finally nearing the staff room, Ali pushed through the double doors into a brightly lit room. Inside were various vending machines, comfy couches or tables to sit at. No one was there much to her distress, but undoubtedly someone would need a snack sometime and come calling. Strolling up to one of the soda machines, Ali dug through her pocket for some loose change. She hated using whole dollars when she had the coinage to spare. Finding she had just enough, and after picking the pocket lint out of the collection, she deposited it into the slot and hit the button for a cherry coke.

It didn't suprise her when a diet pepsi came rolling out of the machine. Rolling her eyes, Ali grabbed it and shrugged. Perhaps it was a sign she'd been sitting and doing research for too long that day? Not wanting to waste, she popped the cap and took a swig. The first sip of a cold beverage was always her favourite. It sort of cooled the inside, and refreshed instantly. It used to be her morning routine to have powdered donuts and a mountain des, but she'd thus gotten past that awful habit. The appearance of an extra five pounds might have been the catalyst to the switch from soda to flavoured waters. Either way, Alinedra was happier for it, knowing it was the right move.

Finding her favourite spot on a bright red couch across from a small television, she flipped to the discovery channel and began to watch what appeared to be a documentary on Chinese pandas. She sipped her pepsi, and tried to relax her mind from the stresseful essay she knew she was procrastinating from.

Yiiei
Yiiei's head was cradled in her hands as she pored over the several journals before her. She was getting no where. Dropping her hands, she brushed the crumpled pieces of paper from her desk as she tried to push her chair back. Her desk was surrounded with ugly balls of paper as if a herd of kindergartens had just had a massive paper ball fight in her laboratory. Groaning, she began to pick up the make-shift balls and shot them into her trash bin, missing several times, which just made the clean up time longer.

After what seemed like forever, Yiiei walked over to where her baby was sleeping. She stood over the cradle for a minute, just enjoying the sight of the sleeping baby. Giving a quick and gentle stroke to Eury's cheek, Yiiei made her way for the staff lounge. She was in dire need of coffee since the dead-end research she had spent her morning on had drained her. Eury was the joy of her life but the research projects that came with being an Observer was her bane.

Chanting 'coffee' beneath her breath, Yiiei rushed out of the room with enthusiasm that her research rarely was shown.

Posted: Wed Apr 04, 2007 11:18 am on Pg. 6

Yiiei
"Coffee. Coffee. Coffee." The chanting continued as the observer walked through the double doors of the staff lounge. Her dark eyes focusing on nothing but the coffee machine within the midst several other vending machines. She walked past her apprentice to lean her forehead against the glowing advertisement on the surface of the coffee vending machine. She took a breath from her chant as she slipped her hands in and out of pockets, searching for money. There were none.

Yiiei groaned at the thought of going back to her laboratory and making the track back again to the staff lounge. Searching the lounge now with an alertness that had been gone before, the small observer tried to see if there was anyone she could bum money off of.

Quickly she spotted her apprentice sitting in the usual place watching a documentary of the oh so adorable pandas. She stalked her way there, a pained expression on her face.

"Ali." She groaned, her hands reaching out as if she become a zombie or ghoul from a corny horror film.

Alinedra
Having watched Yiiei's entrance, to avert her eyes from the mating panda's, Ali grinned up at the woman.
" Alright, alright. You can have some change for the magic mind juice. " Chuckling, she pulled out her wallet and handed Yiiei a crisp dollar bill. She didn't know how one person could exist on so much caffeine, but somehow her observer did it.

Yiiei
Yiiei grasped the dollar and held it tight to her as if it were the holy grail itself but was more than ready to dispose of the dollar for a hot cup of coffee. Her dark eyes watched intently as the white paper cup dropped down then the dark liquid poured into the cup, a most glorious scent to the observer. Fingers tapped against the side of the machine, waiting and counting down for the moment they could retrieve the cup of elixir.

It stopped. Opening the little door, she wrapped her itching fingers around the warm cup and brought it close to her face, taking in the intoxicating scent.

Alinedra
Alinedra looked on internally laughing. Her observer never ceased to amuse her. It wasn't in a mocking way however, it was just in a general enjoyment of the woman's little quirks. Very few people could gain that much pleasure from vending machine coffee, but Yiiei could pull it off, and Ali grinned at it.

" So how goes the research? I asked if you wanted anything earlier, but i think i got a grunt. Or maybe you just grunted on accident to my reply. Either way, i'm fairly sure that you were either on to something or hating something, so i left. The baby still asleep?" Ali said, after clearing her throat to get the observer's attention.

Yiiei
Sipping her coffee, Yiiei's only response were a shake of a head followed by a nod. She would have stopped her apprentice from asking her the dreaded question about her research had it not been for the fact that she was much too occupied with much needed drink of caffeine. All thoughts of research were far from her mind. She wanted only to be left in peace with her coffee, the wonderful dark liquid with such an aromatic fragrance to make the observer drool at the first sight of it even if it were beans before having been grounded.

Then the second question brought her out of her revere. Baby. She stared at the cup of coffee as she thought about Eury. The little girl needed something to drink or eat when she woke up from her nap. Yiiei didn't bother to eye any of the vending machines in the lounge. Sure, she would drink or eat any of those since they were a natural part of her diet but she would rather not have that be the same diet for her own baby.

Looking up at her apprentice she smiled an innocent smile. "Ali," she sung as she edged closer to the woman as her eyes danced with amusement.

Alinedra
"Yiiei," Ali replied in an equally mocking sing song voice, but unable to hold the stern face, busted out into laughter. Through the chuckles and giggles, she looked up at the woman. "You really are in a sort of funk today arnt you? One mention of Eury and it's 'splash' off the deep end, deteriorating to singsonging your words?" Ali laughed and looked at the coffee pointedly. " Maybe you've had more of the magic juice than you can stand. "

Smiling wholeheartedly up at Yiiei, who's head was blocking some rather grusome images on the discovery channel, Ali threw her hair out of her face and cursed her ponytail inwardly for never finding all the strands.

Yiiei
"Want to do me a huge favor my favorite apprentice?" Her voice still held the sing song melody as she posed the question while leaning closer to Ali with even larger smile. She didn't need to glance down at her watch or a clock to know that Eury would be waking up from her nap soon and being a baby so selfish by nature, she'll start to demand her bottle or food asap.

The request remained up in the air as Yiiei thought about what else she could get her most wonderful apprentice to do while she was out. There were those darn science journals that she been meaning to get but hadn't been able... and there were also those nice slim clicky pens. The thought of clicky pens made the observer sigh happily. The absent minded sound of clicking. It was beautiful, especially if she were the one doing the clicking. To take out all frustration on a pen by rapid clicking or the feeling of having done something but clicking the pen when in use and when not in use each time she wrote something. Small gratifications that were temporary but more than pleasing.

"Yikes!" While day dreaming, Yiiei's hand loosen her grip around the paper cup which spilled out the now lukewarm liquid onto her hand to the sleeve of her crisp white lab coat. Scolding she stared at the stain for awhile before getting up to search for a napkin and mentally checked off dry cleaners in her mind as another of maybe get Ali to do though perhaps she had another lab coat in her laboratory? The girl squinted as she tried in vain to remember.

Alinedra
Alinedra watched as yiiei walked off, mumbling to herself. She'd probably never know what favour the woman wanted, knowing her. Sighing, Ali stretched her arms and got up. She knew she should probably get her work done, but for now she was content with just sitting here watching television. Perhaps she'd eat her dinner... it'd been hours since she'd eaten anything.

Going over to the small kitchenette, Ali got out all of the materials she needed for her mac and cheese dinner. It was the healthiest thing she could have packed, but it worked, and she enjoyed it. Wishing she'd brought some hot dogs to put in the mix, she began the small two burner stove and put the small pot she'd brought on to boil.

Throwing her bangs out of her face, Ali began to daydream of her own vale. Would it be an exotic plant? One from far away countries she'd never visit, or something from her own backyard that she grew up with? Ali wondered what a crab grass's temperment would be like and began to giggle, imagining it to be much like that of a certain staff member. Going back to her spot on the couch and grabbing the remote, she switched from the animal planet to The Discovery Channel and waited for her food to be ready.
