I'm really not decided. Its between 2 and 5 for me. But I voted for 5. 'Cause I think it is kinda underrated^^ Just my opinion sweatdrop wink whee

Suikoden 5? Underrated? Not by the fans. All I hear about SV is rabid praise.

2 is my favourite, simply because it was the first Suikoden I ever played. I find that I do adore 5, but all around, my favourite is 2. heart And it's all for Viktor heart

Suikoden 1 all the way. Best music, best characters, best gameplay 3nodding imo anyway...
In 4 I didn't like the horrible way they handled cut-scenes. I hated how in almost every dramatic moment there was that annoying little pause while it loaded the next scene. No fluidity in the assault on the final base (that weird island with the laser statue)
And yes, 5 actually got pretty decent reviews around. This is the first place I've heard of Suikoden 5 not being so liked.

I can't believe I didn't post here yet. >_<;
My favorite is the first Suikoden. I loved the characters, the gameplay, the way the story was told, and above all, it was very fun to just play. My second favorite is IV for all the same reasons, then III (Which I think is the best one).

And also, I agree with Shi Yatsu on Suikoden having the best soundtrack. It totally did. Suikoden V did not. It was simply too synthesized. Suikoden music should not be synth-sounding.

I liked some of the music for V, but I agree. It just seemed... off. Wind of Phantom should have tipped me off- the opening songs usually end up being in my top five, and WoP was... very odd. The best music was on the 10-track Limited Edition CD that came with the preorder. LE Queen's Knights FTMFW.

I have to say 3 because you get to see many people's point of view, even Luc's point of view(even though it was rather short). It gives you many perspectives, if I were to never have gone through Chris Story I would of hated her guts till the very end ^^.
Although I do like a lot of the music coming from the whole Suikoden series though.

The music in 5 was very synthetic sounding, but actually I like the music in 3 even less. Probably one of the reasons I could never get into the story too much was because I didn't feel it had a very strong soundtrack behind it.

I would agree that I like all the ones I’ve played so far. Haven’t gotten around to the 5th one or even did tactics yet though. I would say I‘d have to go half and half with the 1st and 2nd one. The 2nd one mainly cause it was my first one and started the reason why I wanted to go down the series and play the ones I could. The 1st because the story was somewhat better and out of the rest. I had to really go out of my way to try and not say the wrong thing or have someone “accidentally“ die during game play and not have them be usable.

Suikoden 1 and 2 are about equal in my opinion. My reasons:
Suiko 2 had a pretty deep story. Two friends that were bound by fate to fight each other. I think it doesn't get any better than that.
Suikoden 1 had more a reason to gather the stars of destiny. As the game series progresses the only reason you get all 108 SoD is because that's what you know. In the first one there was a real reason. There WAS a magic in all the Stars and not to mention that the first one was more about rebellion.
But that's just what I think. 3nodding
Hope the sixth one is alright.

Suikoden 2 is my all time favorite. I've played up to 4 and decided that the best games are in this order.
1
2
3 and4
3 has great storyline, rune powers and graphics and 4 helps with any Pirate or Windwaker deprivation problems. All in all, the best were 1 and 2.
