About Cerrydwen
An In Game look at the roleplay

GEOGRAPHY;
Whilst its exact location is uncertain, Cerrydwen Academy is situated in Southern Ireland. The castle itself is surrounded by several forests and meadows. There are a couple of small surrounding wizarding villages in the areas, all of which might be visited by the students on planned occasions. The Cerrydwen Railway makes traveling between these places quite easy.

THE SCHOOL;
Cerrydwen academy, on a structural level, is very much inspired of Celtic customs. Celtic designs ornate the interior of the school greatly. The school is named after a celtic goddess, Cerrydwen, a Mother nature. The school focuses on wandless magical practises, also developing the student's inner elemental gifts.

THE HOUSES;
Upon arrival, students are sorted in one of four houses, according to their zodiacal sun signs, which will also determine their primary inner elemental gift that is to be developped. Cuspians are sorted on a case-to-case basis.
The four houses are Cormanthyr(Earth), Seraphim(Air), Aeonar(Fire), and Lilieth(Water). There are 6 Years at Cerrydwen.

STAFF;
Headmistress: Lady Persephone Du Lac

STUDENTS;
Students of all races, and from around the world attend this school, due to its alternative teachings; the extensive wandless and elemental magics are much renowned.

Students go abord the Cerrydwen Transit, a gigantic flying bus that picks up students from nearly everywheres on the globe, at designated spots.

Students begin their first year at Cerrydwen at 14 or 15 years of age, and graduate at 19 or 20.

1st Years are born in 1992 ( aged 14-15 )
2nd Years are born in 1991 ( aged 15-16 )

4th Years are born in 1989 ( aged 17-18 )
5th Years are born in 1988 ( aged 18-19 )
6th Years are born in 1987 ( aged 19-20 )

Students attend classes, and may join extra curricular activities, such as clubs and Quidditch.

ACADEMICS;

About the Roleplay
So how exactly does this work?

Cerridwen Academy of magic is a Hogwarts-like setting RPG community. It is composed of,and made for serious roleplayers of ages 13 and up that have a certain ability in literacy and roleplaying. Have you ever dreamt of going to Hogwarts? Have you ever imagined yourself enrolled in a magic school where anything could happen? Have you ever wanted to be a part of the magic? Now you can.

I have put alot of dedication in this project. Therefore, I expect any applicant to be relatively active; posting once a day can really help keep the roleplaying moving, and keep the guild from stagnation. The more people post, the more things keep moving, and the more fun we can all have.

Now that that has been said, let's go over the roleplaying basics; How does Cerrydwen function?

The Guild is divided in subforums, all destined for a specific purpose. Most are places within the school where Roleplaying is encouraged, but some will also eventually extend to the outside world. Some are restricted to Classrooms, and others are for informative purposes, to enrich the roleplaying experience.

Roleplaying threads may be started by anyone, as long as it is in the proper area.

ROLEPLAYING;
All roleplaying is done with a certain degree of literacy, according to this . Click and read.

MAIN FORUM- CERRYDWEN ACADEMY;
Announcements will be posted on the Bulletin Boards within: Information concerning special events, exams, and all sorts of school-related things. Check often for changes and updates!

On a roleplaying level, this is the Ground Floor -Roleplaying allowed

THE LIBRARY;
The Library serves as an information database. All sorts of informations regarding the school will be stored here. Student profiles, school history, information on houses, various guides, books for classes, and Student's journals are all to be kept in this subforum.

OTHER SUBFORUMS;
Ballroom: Events will be held here, so it remains locked for the most part. Roleplaying allowed on special ocasions
Classrooms: This is where all the classes will be held, all class threads will link to here. Roleplaying disallowed
Staff Room: Crew only - Roleplaying allowed for professors.

Dungeons, 1st Floor, 2nd Floor, and School Grounds are all roleplaying subforums for roleplaying threads at Cerrydwen.

Subforums for Out-of-Cerrydwen Roleplays, and Common rooms coming soon!

CLASSES;
As you've previously read, the setting is in a boarding school-like atmosphere, in a wizarding world setting tinted with a little bit more fantasy.
While it is not required of you to do so in order to join Cerrydwen, players have the option of attending classes and doing homework. Whether or not the players do, however, the characters are in obligation of attending classes. This is how it works. For every class, for every assignment, you have two options.

Option 1:Attending the class and doing the work,
You can attend the class as your character, doing the homework and exams, and handing in the assignments.

Option 2: Not doing assignments for your character, and his results are determined at random
You can choose to not do the work, and you character will still get a grade, which will be determined by dice roll. Odds of better grades can increase if you are more active.

IN CHARACTER ATMOSPHERE;
I cannot stress this enough; Cerrydwen is a roleplay devoid of OOC posting. I might save up for an OOC subforum in the future, however; for now, only IG posts will be allowed(At the exception of mine).

All users will be required to sign their posts with their full student name, followed by their year and their house. If they hold any position, they may also list that. Staff members sign with their full name and position.

You may add things to your "signature" as you see fit, so long as you have the mandatory information. This helps people recognize who they're talking to while rolepaying, as there can be confusion between gaia usernames and character names.

JOURNALS;
As an aside, every student will have the option of keeping a journal that everyone will be able to read. For now, the journals will be kept in the Library- Noobody is allowed to post in them at the exception of the Journal author. Furthermore, A school scrapbook will be kept, where members will be able to consult the current roleplaying storyline, or recent/past happenings, etc.

What can I play in Cerrydwen?
Acceptable character races, roles, powers, etc...

So, you've decided you want to join. Now what? You must create your character, of course! The first question to ask yourself is, what do you want to play?

STUDENT;

Must be born between 1992 and 1987. You will be sorted based on your zodiacal sun sign, personnlity, and elemental affinities. Student positions include Prefects and Head Boy/Head Girl.

STAFF;

Must be graduated. Teachers must be aged 24 and up. Beeing a teacher means extra work; you must keep up with classes. You may also choose more than one teaching subject, but only do so if you have the time to keep all your classes up to date.

Teaching positions available;

Elemental Studies; Air / Head of Seraphim House
Elemental Studies; Water / Head of Lillieth House
Elemental Studies; Fire / Head of Aeonar House
Elemental Studies; Earth / Head of Cormanthyr House
Defensive magics
Traditional Spellcasting
Herbology
Magical Creatures
Divination
Mythology
(If you can think of another subject, you may suggest it)

Other staff positions available:

Librarian
Caretaker
Secretary
Deputy Headmaster/Deputy Headmistress

RACES, POWERS, ETC;

If you wish to play a different race, other than Human Wizard, PM me about it. Some students may have mixed blood, but you may not be entirely of a different race(ex; Veela).

As a student, your powers are very limited, you are in training. Any magical powers that are out of the ordinary need be approved before hand. I will be vastly more accepting of powers for graduated applicants such as teachers and staff.

NON-CANON RULE;

This is very important; This is a non-canon roleplay, meaning it is composed entirely of original characters. No characters from books, series, movies, etc(Including Harry Potter), no character related to any of those previously mentionned characters, and no using any of their names even if there is no connection. No Harry Potter, No Draco's girlfriend, and no Bob Weasley.

Harry Potter vs. Cerrydwen
For all you Harry Potter virgins out there

While this roleplay indeed sets in Rowling's magical world, it is not based upon Harry Potter in an extensive way; in fact, Cerrydwen is a non-canon roleplay (Meaning no characters from the books), that does not take place in Hogwarts, but in a different Wizarding school located in Southern Ireland: Cerrydwen Academy of Magical Learnings.

Furthermore, while it ressembles Hogwarts in a few ways, Cerrydwen is a school that differs from canon Harry Potter schools with its academic program; Courses are vastly different, as Cerrydwen focuses primarily on wandless elemental magic, in addition to basic wizarding skills taught in Hogwarts.

However, basic knowledge of the places in Harry Potter might help you with this roleplay, as some of them may be referred to during play (Don't forget that while this doesn't take place at Hogwarts, that school still exists, and so do other places such as the Ministry of Magic and Diagon Alley.) Harry Potter information is abundant on the internet, making information easily accessible.

In other words, don't worry if you don't know all about Harry Potter! If you think that your lack of knowledge of the books might harm your roleplaying, simply google it!

PS; The Harry Potter Lexicon is a great link!
