well, i didn't notice it but i remember it now that you've mentioned it. makes sense. actually tho, they might both be true. it could be that, while his mother was sick, instead of spending time with her, he tried to spend his time finding people and things to make her better and then she died one day while he was at school. Although I do find that it might be difficult for a "child" to find ways to help his mother get better. he might have been an older child, but I'm sure that his father was much more successful when it came to finding doctors for her.
