Knowing the legend isn't everything. It's helpful, but you can learn without it. It's not very smart to say someone sucks just because he uses circle instead of 4.
And please, when someone's impolite it doesn't mean you have to answer fire with fire.
Anyway. When you ask for tips in a place like this, it should be obvious that those who really can give you good advice tend to use the legend.
@Malice the dark jester: If you really want to understand the game, I suggest visiting Tekken Zaibatsu. Everyone doesn't have to play so seriously that they study frame data or if a certain command hits high or low, but don't attack people who do.

Tekkensennin Yeah, but if someone's impolite, we gotta bring the newbies back to the ground! I used to be a total d**k to Icege way back before I actually got to realize how crap my gaming was. No offense, but you're still impolite. Bringing someone back to the ground doesn't necessarily require rudeness.

If I were you, Id get a friend over. If s/he wanted to play Tekken, then learn to dodge thier moves, counter them and keep it up! ^_<
