The quaint little village was a quiet and peaceful place. It carried an almost sleepy air to it, for the inhabitants all simply went about their daily lives, ambling, never in a hurry. And why should they? Nothing tremendously exciting happened here, for the most part. But there certainly were times, oh yes. Like now, for instance. A stranger had arrived with the sole intention of resting, and with him, had come a great beast, none of whom the likes they had ever seen before.

Ra'ael had reared up on his powerful hind legs, wings beating furiously as he attmepted, yet again, to get himself off the ground. The man who was accompanying him, a tall, rugged hunter, watched with amused amber eyes, his long, dark hair pulled neatly back. After a moment of that frenzied beating, each flap causing a ferocious wind to gust, the griffin reluctantly dropped back on all fours, panting, its cruel eyes glaring.

"Dumb brute." Despite his rough words, there was no denying the affection in hunter's tone, and, idly sweeping some dust off of his leather tunic, he patted the beast's shoulder. The pink griffin rolled one large indigo eye, clacking his beak with displeasure. As an adolescent, Ra'ael had been more and more edgy to get off the ground--he'd had limited success. With a yawn, Loch scruffed one hand against his slightly rough face--and rolled his eyes as the male reared up once more to try, yet again.

They were certainly drawing quite a crowd--the villagers had stopped their plodding lives to take a peek at this strange spectacle. Loch didn't seem to mind, and Ra'ael went on as though they were nothing but mere, insignificant insects. Those great, cruelly hooked talons were tucked close to his chest, and finally, the griffin let out a piercing shriek of frustration, snapping his beak as he again settled to the ground. How irritating!

Rain jabbed the black dot on her old map with her finger, turning the map to get different angles on where the hell she was. "This thing is wrong..." she said, an annoyed edge in her voice. Asriel clucked softly, sitting on his hind legs to see over the map. Aleraya bent her neck over to take a look, her sparkling blue eyes darting across the map. She gave a small chirp, rearing up on her hind legs. She pointed a wing to the west, where a small tendril of smoke was rising up above the hills. "Great eye Aleraya," thanked Rain, patting Aleraya's neck. She was about to leap up on the great females back when Asriel gave a sharp tug on her jacket. Rain turned, staring at her little red gryphon. Well, not so little. He was getting big, catching up on Aleraya's size. His flight feathers were fully developed, and his great wings were huge. Rain took her hand off of Aleraya, hopping up instead on Asriel. "Hope you don't mind Aleraya," she said the the female. Asriel gave a huge kick off, rising steadily into the air with enourmas flaps of his wings. Aleraya kicked off behind him, quickly catching up and spiraling ahead. The small village was Lori was only over a couple hills, not too far, especially on gryphon back.
