Let me guess no gates and you're licenses are too scattered to help you? I'm still trying to kill Ba'ganman. He honestly won't die I've tried atleast 3 times already. Doesn't work but I never die till his final shot. That and I have 60 potions just can't use them fast enough to make them work.

It would just randomly guard and I wouldn't know what was going on or how it did that. But I always new the secret guards in every other FF but this is too different and I can't figure it out.

Its like in Daiblo 2, guards are due to your weapons and are random.

Only in FFXII are they randomized now. Guards in other Final Fantasies were hard to come by of course but you could press certain buttons and guard manually. It was all do able as long as you knew what you were doing.

Such as in the original FF when it first came out. Pressing B on the NES controller made the top 3 enemies be blocked or missed. If you pressed B at the right moment. The A button did the same but with the bottom 2. Then that was carried over to other Final Fantasy's in different ways.

The first is on Playstation, and gameboy advance. I would show you the original gameboy Final Fantasy but I have to find it first.

Thing is they dulled it down to the point of 1 hour gameplay and you win. It was meant as an introduction to the whole roleplaying experience on platformers. But failed in America as it was beaten easily and considered a mock attempt at gaming. Later on around Final Fantasy 3 for Playstation after Square Enix had forsaken Nintendo for the disc generation. Legend of Mana was born. Earlier than that on the SNES was the original Mana game, Eventually the mana series grew to game boy, and is now making millions as a hit on game boy and Wii. But the Mana series and Final Fantasy are both of the same origin. The difference is that one is intended to amaze and mystify while the other simply captures you and keeps you going.
