Dear Diary
(Cut out the first part from Elle's diary.)
Spock is doing great. Growing normally, I think, he's able to crawl now. He's inquisitive and so adorable and playful. A few days ago I found him under a self made pile of autumn leaves, so I've been outside for hours with him, raking piles, giving him great castles of leaves to play in. He hides in his castle and then attacks whatever moves past (normally my foot.) with a sort of crawl-pounce thing. Enid, (our Kreature), is teaching him well as far as stalking and hunting goes.
And now that he's a bit older I'm looking into getting a Gwee. I think I can get one- they're just not very cheap so it may take a while. I've also gotten some of those other things for him. A Fausto bottle (which I carry around) and a scaly egg. I don't know what'll come out of them but whatever it is, Spock won't be lonely.
He hasn't spoken any words that I understand but he speaks his own words. And we've been teaching him sign language for the past few months. It works so well! Spock tells us something, we don't understand, so he tries to tell us with his hands. Half the gestures he makes up, but he can make the hand gesture for food, hold, yes, no, drink and outside. And he points. I think he's clever... but that could just be me.
Summer was great with him! He hates the ocean but he loves rockpools. I got sunburnt daily because of him, we sat there for hours while he crawled around in rockpools, poking poor shells, splashing, paddling, he can already swim (with floaties) which I'm happy about. Swimming before walking! But I guess swimming is easier.
There's this great big rockpool down on the beach that's always warmed by the sun, like a bath but as large as a pool, and we often went down there to swim together in the water. He had the floating gear at first... but I decided to let him try swimming (with the floaties) when he apparently got the hang of kicking his legs so that he could move the floaty thing around the surface. And it took a few tries, but he got some sort of swimming going, his wings folded tightly and his tail on the surface. I only let him do it for a short time.
He's probably going to be better at swimming than me if he keeps it up. I can only doggy paddle. But now that summer's over he has to stick to the bath. It's getting too cold out there for the ocean.
Uh. Other things that Spock has done. He had his first hair trim. I did it, trimmed the hair over his eyes, just so that he can see better. But I didn't cut much off. And he's still a bit of a mystery as far as what happens later... but I like surprises.
So that's about it. Work, idiots, and Spock learning to swim while I turn bright red. And no summer romance for me! Maybe next summer.
Elle.

Elle flopped into a chair in the GMFC and sighed. On feet all day at library, on feet all night for toddler who apparently was sharing her biological 'gift' for not needing much sleep, and she... though she wouldn't admit it to anyone... was craving to do what others her age did. Sex, of course, but relationships too. Males and females ran at the sight of her teeth and if not her teeth, they ran pretty quickly at the sight of the toddler. Elle's expressionless face broke into a small weary frown. She'd be an old virign with this kid latched onto her tail.
As if he'd been aware of her, Spock looked up from where he lay under the chairs and smiled at her with that horrible smile of his, the one described by her own mother as 'full of sunshine and love', the one that made her forgive him for anything and everything. Bah. It had to be Luna's genetics. He even came out on his hands and knees and reached up for her, a little chubby toddler with his eyes, face and tail full of smiles, so she hoisted him up into her lap and hugged him close.
"Spock, my darling." Elle murmered very softly, glancing around to see if anyone had noticed. She was alone, she hoped, and tugged her hood off her head and onto her neck so that she could kiss the silky straight hair on his head as she brushed it out of his face. Elle was very bad with the public affection thing, it made her nervous and shy, put her on edge, but the way he squirmed and was clearly delighted with it made the risk all worth it.
Elle leaned back and yawned again, trying to not smile when he mimicked her, both of them yawning with their fangs hanging out and their tails twitching. "I don't know what genetics the aliens gave you, but if you can somehow conjor a lover for your mum before she goes mad, it would be very helpful."
She put him back down and watched him as he crawled away for the pile of toys that had probably been drooled on as long as Elle herself had been a toddler. Oh well. Maybe he'd run into some of Winny's old spit and have a strange genetic reunion with his aunt.
Keeta waddled into the waiting room, looking like she was about ready to burst. She had come for one of the final checkups before the baby was born, to make sure there weren't going to be any predictable complications. As she headed to the sign in desk, she saw a mother and toddler already seated. With a weary nod, she acknowledged them as she sat down. That would be her before too long, she knew.
"What's his name?" she asked, indicating the toddler.
Surion enters the clinic, something just kept drawing him back to this place, perhaps it was that he ran into more people here that knew him then anywhere else... But he did not know. He looks around to see if there was signs of life, and found some. He nods as he undoes his cloak
Elle looked up to the woman and then back to where Spock had dug himself into the toybox and was now hiding in there, the tail and wings clearly still sticking out and wriggling from side to side as he played... somehow. How did a toddler play like that? She looked back to the woman and smiled, a small smile, brushing strands of loose dark hair out of her own face. "Spo... Jonathan. He's Jonathan. And I'm Elle." She felt a bit sympathetic for the woman, Elle KNEW how pregnancy felt. "How's it going? Is your baby bouncing on your organs yet?"
She was distracted by the sight of the young man. He was familiar but Elle was more distracted by how good looking he was. She scowled at herself and pinched her arm, then tried to smile a hello. It didn't matter how lonely she'd been lately, being tempted to jump the nearest hot blooded male wasn't exactly socially acceptable... essically with her toddler in the room.
Surion slips the cloak off setting it on a chair, the red psudo dragon jumping down and landing atop of it. The male himself lifts the other dragonette from his opposite shoulder and drops it with the first lightly. "Hello" he greets the pregnant mother and then again to the young woman with teh toddler before crossing the room towards them
Keeta glanced and nodded at the man that entered, before returning eye contact to the other woman. She smiled and looked over at the toddler when Elle told her his name.
"He looks like a handful, but he also looks like he's having fun. And yes mine is definitely bouncing up and down on my bladder lately. I'll be glad to have some relief from that," she said with a sigh, a small smile still on her face.
"Hello." Elle replied, and tore her eyes off him, cursing the stupid elf genetics. She had become more aware of it lately, and those stupid elves in the estate had been smirking at her with that knowing look and suggestion that she join their 'festivites'...
"He is, but he wears himself out and falls asleep wherever so he isn't too bad." Elle looked back to where the little gwee tail and wings were still batting away in what she hoped was a happy mood. His head popped up soon with a barbie doll in his teeth, the fangs piercing the stupid thing's head. Yep. He was happy. Dolls got bitten when he was happy.
She smiled sympathetically at the woman and nodded. "I remember that part. Maybe she's wearing herself out now for you."
Surion smiles and drops into a chair a couple away from Elle. He glances at the child and chuckles "Well thats one less head to worry about" his observations of the child made him grin. "I cant help but agree your clutch seems to to have enough energy to keep anyone busy."
"Well thats good. Gives you a little chance to rest then? And I like to think that my little one is wearing him or herself out, but, you never know...." she paused for a moment realizing that the other woman had introduced herself, but Keeta hadn't returned the pleasantries. It wasn't her intention to be rude, she had just been so distracted lately.
"Oh, I'm Keeta, by the way. Sorry for not introducing myself earlier." She offered her hand to Elle, and then the blue-haired man. Keeta couldn't help but laugh a little when she saw Johnathan peek out with a Barbie in his mouth, however.
"Him even. Boys are good too." Elle shook the woman's hand. Spock dropped the barbie and headed for Keeta's legs, slowly, crawling low, apparently trying to stalk the woman's foot. Elle tried to shoo him away with one hand as she glanced up to the male.
"Clutch? That's a way to put it." That was a dragon saying, she realized, and pushed Spock off the woman's feet as he tried to sit on it. He was part gwee so... "Yes, he's my exercise." She was staring at his smile though, at the fangs, curious and unsure. Were they dragon too?
"Well if he's your child yes, I appologize if he isn't." He pauses "I'm Surion by the way" he introduces himself looking at the trio from behind the bangs that covered half of his face.
He observes the 'hunt' of the young child and grins again "You will be a good hunter one day won't you little one" he addresses the child
"It's ok," Keeta said to Elle, when she tried to shoo the toddler away from her foot. "It doesn't bother me. In fact, it's something I'd better get used to, so it's good practice in a way." She chuckled, rubbing her hands over the buldge of her belly. It was strange thinking it would be gone in just a little while. Although it was heavy and hard on her back, among other things, she had kind of grown used to seeing herself like that.
"He is my child." Elle answered and waited for the interest to die out all of a sudden, as it often did when someone found out that she had a child. She glanced down and some of her protective emotionless died away as she looked at him, and for a few seconds her affection for the toddler showed in her eyes and her small smile. He would be a good hunter. Elle hoped she could teach him well.
She looked back up to Keeta and smiled at the way the woman touched the bulge. "You'll miss that stomach when the baby's crying. But it will be a relief to get the weight out of you."
Keeta nodded. Speaking of relief...
"If you'll excuse me, I'll be right back. I just need to use the facilities." She hoped that wasn't too much information, but she didn't feel she should leave without an explaination. With a smile at the others, she headed towards the bathroom, careful not to step on Johnathan in the process.
Surion leans forward, his hair slipping over his shoulder. looking into the eyes of the youngster for a few moments using part of his own heritage before looking to Elle and then sitting up "Very intriguing to say the least" he muses and then hears Keeta and nods before looking back to Elle "Looks like theres a number of people here with very mixed heritages"
"Okay." Elle answered Keeta.
Elle glanced up again and found herself feeling the urge for a companion, a friend, for more interaction than the brief ones she got in the library she had been working at. He was handsome and she was sure she'd met him. "Is it that surprising? This is a good place to go when a baby is needed, or when one is created and help is needed."
Spock was dissapointed by the lack of foot, she noticed, he'd stuck the tip of his tail in his mouth and started to moo in a low dissapointed tone. Mooing. Elle went red. How would she explain that? The only noise he could make, besides a few growls and other noises.
Surion chuckles hearing the moo... it did not seem to phase him in the least. Surion's eyes shift from blue to emerald green and he forms water in his palm which begins to change shape before he puts it on the floor near the child, nothing the child would do to it would make it break it or make it disperse but he hoped it would interest the child while he talked with the child's mother.
"This is a true fact, though besides my mother, I dont know many if anyone else with vampric genes in the mix of heritages" He is blunt as he watches the infant's reactions
Spock's interest was gained and he grabbed for it with both arms and the tail, trying to pounce on it and bite it. When it didn't break, he tried to bat it around with his tail.
Elle flinched and felt panicked when he said that. He knew? She didn't know how to feel about that, not at all. He didn't LOOK scared, or angry, or threatening, he wasn't making any threatening moves towards her or her toddler, but she tensed up. That was until the meaning of his words sunk in. "...anyone else? You know of someone?" Surion watches the toddler for a moment before turning his attention to Elle, the water shapes did not stop as he does. "You mean besides my mother and myself? Not really, mind you I'm kind of... re-meeting people as I go" He raises a brow behind his bangs.
She sighed and tried to make her body relax, to untense, to stop wanting to 'defend toddler'. Elle felt a bit ashamed now. She glanced down at Spock and muttered, "Sorry. People don't like it, usually. I haven't met anyone else with it in them. Do you... do you... what's it like for you?"
"Whats it like? well I cant say I really know anything else, was born with the heritages I have in me, including vampric, among others." he doesnt stop watching her... "Though I will say before you ask, i'm not reliant on what it's like outside weather-wise, or anything else like that"
"No, neither am I." Elle said. She was staring at him in a whole new light now, though he was attractive. In fact, she was a bit relieved to think she wasn't totally alone. But she didn't force him to talk about it anymore either, just in case it was something he was ashamed of. She didn't know. Elle didn't want to scare him off.
"But I can get bad sunburn." She admitted, glancing out to the day. "Summer will be fun."
He smiles "Well, not relying on anything in particular helps I'm sure" he looks over at the toddler. Surion didnt look at all ashamed of what he was, "So tell me, half the people I meet in here know me... Are you one of those I have to start fresh with, or do I not already know?" he couldnt help but wonder
"I... think I have met you." Elle said softly. She looked him up and down and added, "But I'm not sure when. I haven't been in here for months, this thing has been keeping me up all night then I've been working all day to pay for the food he eats." She prodded Spock with her toe gently, Spock was still trying to playattack his new prey. "But I'm Elle." Elle held out her hand.
"Well then, might as well consider it a fresh new meeting" he chuckles and makes the water shape bounce a little "I'm Surion" he sees her hand and takes it firmly smiling, he did not offer any last name, he didnt have one to offer. "It's good to meet you, and your son"
"It's good to meet you as well." Elle meant it as well. It was good to meet someone who was part vampire, someone besides her and her child, and her lost sister. And he looked happy, and normal, and wasn't bothered by it. Maybe there was nothing wrong with it. She smiled a small smile and added, "Spock is glad to meet you also, though he may be trying to bite that now."
He laughs hearing the biting comment "Dont worry, he cant hurt it, bite it, pounce it, it's just water, but it's held together, I'm kinda controlling it in that way, it's better then an upset kid who lost his prey" Surion relaxes and pushes his hair over one pointy ear "How old is he?" he enquires motioning to the child
Appearing just outside the doors of the clinic, aqua eyes gaze up at the building. She had let her little boy with Lucas, giving herself a chance to come here and gather so stuff she would need. Pushing the door open, she pulls her cloak off as her wings fold behind her back. Heading towards the desk, her finger push what little hair was hanging out of her ponytail away from her face.
Glancing around, she pauses as she looks over the other two people. She knew them both, Surion and Elle, one being a person she hadn't seen since they were little. The other even after all this time made her heart stop, more so now that she seen he grown. Shaking her head, she looks away as she grabs a few things from the tables near the desk.
In and out, that was how this should go.
The dragonette looks up hearing at the sound of the door opening, he recognizes the female and starts chittering loudly, jumping down and skittering over
Surion heard the voice of his bonded dragonette in his head and turns his head towards the little dragon who by this time had arrived at the female's feet. He hesitates pausing his conversation with Elle, but there was something he had to say "Hello..." he stands up from his seat and waits to see if the female would again avoid him as he'd noticed her do the only other time he could remember meeting her or not.
Elle smelt something and snatched the toddler up quickly, hurrying to the bathroom. Surion would probably have understood if he'd caught smell of it too...

Dear Diary
Jonathan is a toddler. No denying it now. He's probably been one for a little while, now that I think about it...
He is chubby, happy, enjoys gnawing on things and is generally a happy mooing bundle of cuddly baby. He hasn't started talking yet, I don't know what that is about, but he is able to stand on his own and can take a few wobbly steps if he wants.
I've changed his bedroom to suit him better, less ...colors. I hope he likes it. I think he will. He's still in the bedroom across from my old one but I've been working on moving lower down. I have a lower level now for us. How cool is that? Took out a morgage to do it, thanks Mum for not making me pay for the house, but hey there it is. I'll sleep down there soon. Maybe Spock will too if he likes. It isn't too large, a regular looking basement, then a passage further back that goes right underwater. Isn't that awesome? Then we've got a small underground house...thing... there, with a few thick windows for lighting from the water. There's a a few bedrooms, a library and a practice room and a general room. I can keep my magic tomes safe from him down there. Totally waterproof, safe, I can shut it off from the passage if there's a problem, and self contained. We could live down there for some time if we had to. Like I said, cost a lot but with the cost of houses anyway, it's equal to buying a house these days. So it's worth it. I'll draw a map of that too soon. So happy and busy moving books into it!
Anyway I was partly inspired by Spock, it's for his safety. He's clearly not normal. People don't like it when he accidently hurts them by biting their foot too hard, and I've been drawing too much attention to myself by being in the library anyway, I don't like how people have been staring at us. Or the cars that hang around outside. Or the calls in the middle of the night where people hang up. It's creeping me out. He needs to stop gnawing on my magic books and tomes, it can't be good for him.
I haven't told Mum about any of the weirdness. It wasn't so bad at first but it's been getting a bit more intense lately. They tampered with my moterbike, I think. I don't know. I carpool to work now.
Anyway, Spock is good. No harm has come to him and I can feed him fine, the cooking is getting better, I won't let anyone hurt him and if we have problems then ...well we do. No need to get anyone else involved.
Elle

Dear Diary Spock is walking and talking and talking to strangers...
I think he's going to give mum a heart attack with his carefree attitude to strangers. Seriously. She's already having one every few hours with his natural ability at finding things he isn't supposed to find, his natural ability of falling over or walking into walls or falling off the porch, and his natural ability at eating.
He really does eat a lot. I'm glad I don't eat his type of food...
Spock will need to go to school soon!

Thank goodness Spock hasn't gotten into trouble with strangers today! However, he HAS gotten in trouble... and with a marker, too.
In the spirit of fall, Ellette had bought a pumpkin. Nothing too fancy, just a little touch of autumn. Now, whether it was because she was pregnant during the season or maybe he simply enjoys Halloween... Spock became fascinated with it! But something wasn't right. Shouldn't the pumpkin look... different?
Ah, of course. The pumpkin needs to be a jack o' lantern! Sure, it's only September, but you could never be too early for Halloween.
When Ellette finds Spock, he is covered in marker (non-toxic, thank goodness). The pumpkin looks beautiful now, well... at least to the little guy it does. It's covered in a strange attempt of a face, with squiggles on the floor to match!
Er... Happy Halloween?
