It is understandable that there are people out there that can see the future, read other's minds, even make energy balls, or use their mind to move an inanimate object. Oftentimes these abilities are figured out on their own, but can they be taught to other people? Are the powers mere gifts/curses?

Yes, it could be taught but it may take longer to longer. It depend on the person, how spiritual they are, and how much they practice.
Are the powers mere gifts/curses?
They are neither gift nor curses, it is all natural or abilities that is long forgotten.

'Cause it's my nature to do so, I just have to throw this in.
Psychical ability in a verifiable sense boils down to intuition and raw experience. The more knowledge and experience you have, the better you can predict the future. The more you study psychology, especially, the more 'psychic' you become in terms of reading human beings. The more Earth science you study, the more 'psychic' you become in terms of prediciting a fuller range of things that will happen in the external environment. I know it doesn't sound 'special' or glorious, but that is how it works. The more you know and experience the more honed your intuitive and predictive skills are.
As for something more metaphysical like energy balls, which DOES for the most part lay outside conventional explanation... when I did a brief color magic class there wasn't anyone who couldn't learn how to do this. Granted one experience doesn't equate to a good proof, but it shows something, eh?

Well I believe in psychic abillities cause I have some ,though limited, like flash visions. A time when my consious is shown somthing or makes and event that could happen, I predict things that affect me too somtimes, like when i get left at school fro 2 hours, I only know somthing will happen. ex: I had a feeling last tuesday that someone i knew was going to get hurt, for the next to days after that, my bet friend was absent, when she came back I learned that she had beaten the crap out of her x boyfriend/ friend person for lying for the millionth time(he lies to much) She got arrested for battery and he got sent to a psychicatric hospital cause he's suicidal caus eform when his brother died. You just get this feeling that somthing is going to happen durring the day and it does, on monday, I had a feeling somthing was gonna happen scince the morning and our car door won't latch when you close it anymore. I can tell when I'm gonna see people i know to, i get a feeling before i see them, either my eye wigsout or i feel slightly wierd. My eye wa bothering me in math class at the end of the day last year and after school i saw my friend jenny and my eye stoped bothering me. so thus, I believe in Psychic abillities. 3nodding

Powers are gifts, and definately can not be taught. Contoling them for that matter can. Controling anything can be taight because the person teachign it obviously has the ability and the know how to control it.

My experience is not in psychic "gifts" or skills, so I'm not going to add to that. Starlock As for something more metaphysical like energy balls, which DOES for the most part lay outside conventional explanation... when I did a brief color magic class there wasn't anyone who couldn't learn how to do this. Granted one experience doesn't equate to a good proof, but it shows something, eh? There's also the issue of interpretation: technically, we're all big balls of energy. razz Also, if we look at the basic definition of practicing magic- energy manipulation- then it's not so 'special' anymore. I believe magic can be taught, as we already contain that which is needed to practice (energy and will) and we already manipulate energy at a subconcious level (consider the digestive system changing matter into energy).

All of those things can be taught.
Before I started practicing, I couldn't make psi balls or move a psi wheel or anything. I think very few people actually possess those gifts from birth.
The key element is practice and faith. If the person doesn't believe in it then they'll probably never achieve it and even if they do believe, if they never practice they won't achieve anything.

Seeing the future - Can't really be taught, but you can scry and divine the future. Read other's minds - I'd doubt it. (like I don't believe in it) Energy balls - Yes that can be taught. Kinesis - You can try to learn it but it would probably take a lot. These abilities are more or less there all throughout life. Your "born" with them. But they can be taught. And it depends on the situation and the person whether or not they are gifts or curses. Kind of have to have a knack for them
