did anyone else happen to watch the new A&E movie "Wedding Wars"? Its about gay marriage, but its a very comedic type of movie. Not in the gay bashing sort of way, but it was very well made in my opinion. A little over exagerated at times with some things (i doubt that many people would protest for gay marriage in the south...but i may be wrong) but overall it was very good. Anyone else have their own perspective on this movie?

I haven't seen it but yes you would b supprised by the lack of acceptance of any type of homosexuality in the south. in exampel i was walking to the bus and two girls were making out...a little intently, and even guys were saying it was gross despite how many guys like that kind of thing rolleyes and i only live in NC so im not that southern, but still too south for me crying

Why would I be surprised? Every time I visit my sister down in Mississippi, there are people with bumper stickers with the confederate flag and the phrase "Had I'd known this would happen, I'd have picked my own damn cotton."

In states where blatantly racist bumper stickers are frequent[I saw at least five in one day], I'd be surprised if there was a lot of protesting for gay marriage.

I haven't seen it, but I did see the previews. I don't like the stereotype that all gays are hairdressers and wedding planners. I'm gay and have no intrest in those things whatsoever.

Hmm Never even heard of the movie but I would like to see it. Sounds good.

And I must live in a more "silenced" part of the south. Dont get me wrong, Im not surprised that there is s**t like that around (I've seen my share of confederate flags around.. though no racist comments).. I think I just live in an area where people dont talk about it as much. Im not too far away from Charlotte and that might be a reason but eh.. I dunno. If it ever became an issue, Im sure there would be alot of anti-gay people here though.

I live in Canada. We're a happy place.

I laughed my a** off at that movie. It was so well done. I mean, yeah, it was really fluffy but that's what it is: a puff piece. It was sort of like taking an issue that's making people irritable and putting some humor in. That way people relax a little but the subject is still in the limelight. Either way it was funny. And Philedelphia was on earlier that day on A&E. It was just a very homosexual day for A&E.

@Raeshi Yatsura: I live in Canada too. But there's still discrimination here. Example: in psychology class at school

Me: Sexuality is a major aspect of teenage development. I'm bi and I figured it out as a teen.
Girl: What's bi?
Me: You like boys and girls.
Girl: That is sick. How could you do that. ((She's also fired me as her tutor.))

True it's not as bad as in the south but...well it's there.

Oh my god i love that movie! One of my favorite parts is when Shell does the interview at the end of the movie after the polls come in.

Shell: Our enemies think that we are out to destroy the sanctity of Marriage:
But they do not know us well..... for if they did they'd know we don't destroy!
We renovate! We'll make a marriage stronger..... (forgot the rest!)

Although many stereotypes were used in the movie to create humor they also did it to emphasise just how many gay people are employed in the U.S.! If every gay person would go outside to march in a Gay Pride Parade imganie all the work that wouldn't be done! Same thing as if they went on strike!

I didn't see this wedding wars, were might I be able to see it in the future? Also I would not object to Kohki using his rocket launcher on those cars with said racial bumper stickers, if he has one. And I wouldn't put it past him >.>
