Main Ingredient(s): Mummified cat
Original Spell: A ritual, freshly translated from forgotten ancient egyptian text, spoke of man harnessing the gift of a cat's nine lives so that he, himself, could live for several lifetimes. By taking a cat that had been perserved (a means which was said to entrap its soul within its body), placing it in the eye of a large ankh drawn on a floor in gravedust and reciting the proper incantation, the soul of the cat would be called from its husk and infused with the caller, bringing with it its remaining lifetimes.
What went wrong: The mummified cat chosen for the incantation was stolen from the tomb of a very spiteful pharaoh. His spirit disturbed by the theft of one of his many treasures, the pharaoh channelled his anger into a curse on the tongue of the speaker of the incantation. The spell, therefore, was not recited any semblance of correctly and instead of calling the lives from the cat, it called the cat to life.

Yeande -- Zhane's mother. Of his parents, she's the more easygoing of the two, though she can be downright sinister if threatened. Yeande is moreso of a spiritual type with a love of gardening. She prefers to solve her problems through meditation rather than brooding and yelling like her husband.
Phaerna -- Zhane's adopted sister. Phaerna is the daughter of a flighty woods nymph and a brusque drow elf and came to live with Zhane's family shortly after being born. She is a dependent sort, clinging to her parents and older brother for guidance.
Valtentin -- Because everybody needs a worrywart "good conscience" looking out for them. Val is a cloak oculai and a long-time resident of the household. He's looked out for Zhane since he was an infant.
Hex -- And if one acknowledges they need a good conscience, then Hex is surely the bad one. Manipulative and standoffish, she often tries to appeal to Zhane's more impulsive side, getting him to agree to ideas that, in the longrun, may not be good ones.

12/12/06 -- Isis, a peculiar feline infant, was sent home with Zhane today. She seems to be a quiet baby, and somewhat aloof...perhaps per her feline nature. She naps a lot of the time and her gaze, though infantile, is almost intimidating when accented by her eye of horus marking...
