A friend of mine made a joke thread, so to speak, in the Fighting Game Forums about applying tiers to games where they don't really apply. For those unfamiliar with tier lists and the sort, it's basically a chart that dictates how good a character is; the higher the ranking, the better the character is. 3nodding

I made this in that thread; as indicated by the thread title, it's a weapon guide, somewhat, to Ninja Gaiden Black. Take a look and comment. Also, please note that this is from personal experience, so what *I* think of a particular weapon may conflict with another's view of the same weapon. neutral

Melee Weapons for Ninja Gaiden Black

Cognizance: This list is assuming that all weapons are at their maximum level. 3nodding And I'm currently listening to the main theme from the game as I type this. xd

SS: True Dragon Sword/Plasma Sabre Mk. II
- These are your most versatile weapons in the game - you only get the latter weapon on Hard and above and *only* after collecting 49 Scarabs (trust me, it's worth it; lightsabers never looked so awesome). Anyway, almost any combo from either weapon leads to instant death against most Fiends.

And besides, the UT is just awesome. mrgreen

S: Dabilahro, Kitetsu, Unlabored Flawlessness
- For a heavy sword, the Dabilahro is extremely mobile, allowing you to cut up most enemies (and a few bosses) as if they were paper. Also, the way Hayabusa swings the sword allows you to hit several enemies at once, especially when doing Destroyer of Armies (X, X, X, X, X, Y). Very handy, especially later in the game. 3nodding

- The Kitetsu is the sword you get after defeating Doku for the first time. It's more or less a very-slightly toned-down version of the Dragon Sword: you can "fly" (as in Flying Swallow) and you can slap ni**az down with the Izuna Drop; that's basically where the similarities end. However, what makes this sword great is that it allows you to "feed" off your opponents (including bosses... it's great): just hit [->X...] and let the life-sucking begin. twisted

- Remember the Wooden Sword that seemed nothing short of monotonous? Good, get it and upgrade it, right now; granted, it's a long, arduous, and expensive process. Why do I say this when you and I both know that it doesn't get better as it upgrades? Because when you finally get it to its full potential, then it becomes the Unlabored Flawlessness! ZOMGLOLWTFBBQ! eek

Seriously though, this weapon is the only one of its kind in this game or the next. Why? Well, for starters, it can be best classified as a "light-heavy" sword, meaning that it's basically a heavy sword while at the same time allowing to do various feats of a**-kickery normally only given to the light weapons, like the Izuna Drop and the Blade of Nirrti! surprised Another note about those two attacks, you can do either and the hits *do not need to connect* in order to keep the move going. 3nodding

Two more things: one, this weapon kills any low-level Fiend in no more than three hits - in fact, when doing either air attack mentioned in the previous paragraph, the head *falls off* on the third hit. Secondly, if your health falles below 20% (I think), then the runes light up and it becomes your Giant a**-Kicking Log from Hell! Seriously, this thing is literally evil on a stick! This weapon can kill certain bosses in less than *five* seconds! burning_eyes If this weapon was a light sword or at least as mobile as the Dabilahro, then it would be the best weapon in the game (imo).

A: Dragon Sword, Lunar, Vigoorian Flails
- The Dragon Sword falls somewhere in this category until it becomes the True Dragon Sword in Chapter 13 (right before you fight Awakened Alma). Compared to even the Kitetsu, it comes up kinda short, so you're better off using that once you level it up to Level 3. neutral All in all, it's pretty average, nothing great, nothing horrible.

- The Lunar is a weapon new to the series - or so I've read. For those that don't know, it's basically a staff with spiked weights on the end (at Level 2 and above). It's great for crowd control as well as - ahem - dancing on ni**az, but the specialties end there... outside of being able to do the Izuna Drop with it, but even *that's* impractical until you level it up to Level 3 (where you can buffer it out of the Lunar Explosion [like this: ->Y, Y, X, Y]).

One things for sure, Izuna Dropping a Fiend *by accident* is by far one of the awesomest things you'll ever do in the game. xd

- The Vigoorian Flails are just like the nunchaku that you find early in the game; they just have the ability to decapitate as well as letting you "fly" on Fiends (labeled as Red Hot Iron Brand with this weapon). You basically wanna use these if you want either a large combo-hit number or if you want to kill something kinda quick; slap on the Armlet of Potency and do a Ripping Thunder [->Y, Y, Y] and you will literally kick someone's (or something's) teeth out of their mouth. Other than that, you have better weapons. :/

Of course, if you also wanna shred someone like a cabbage, then you can't go wrong with Cremator [X, X, ->X... Y]; however, note that you can only hit X a maximum of I think 7 times before the move terminates itself.

B: Dark Dragon Blade
- While strong as all Hell (and a heavy sword), the Dark Dragon Blade isn't *half* as versatile as the Dabilahro. Get this for the sake of getting it (collect 50 Scarabs while playing on Hard and above), it's nothing special.

Though I must say that the ET and UT for this weapon is nothing short of awesome. 3nodding

C: Rachel's War Hammer
- This thing is borderline useless; it's a heavy weapon so there's a drawback there in itself. It has less uses that the Dark Dragon Blade, other than breaking down crack walls and the sort. Anything this weapon can do, the Dabilahro can do 5 times more effectively.

D: Nunchaku
- Use this for a high combo hit. Once you upgrade your Dragon Sword to Level 2, don't bother anymore.

WTF: Spear Gun
- The game tells you itself: "It has limited uses out of water". Play on Very Hard and get to Chapter 11; it now has limited uses *underwater*. Just grab a sword and gut ready to do some hands-on fish-gutting. ninja

Okay, that's all. have fun. blaugh

Enjoy. cool
