Freakezette She was a wonderful asset to this guild, maybe I'll archive all her lessons into a sticky post in the Learning Japanese forum. She had an, um, interesting personality (as exhibited in the quote Koiyuki posted). Honestly, I didn't always appreciate what she had to say, but I do think she challenged me to look at true Japanese culture, and the fact that they are a very ethnocentric society. Actually, I never appreciated any of her posts. Of course, she said so many interesting things but... Well, she could have been a lot nicer to some of the members of the guild. Apart from that, of course, she shared much helfpful information to everbody, so I thank her for that.

Well, some people aren't all nice when they tell people stuff. At least she gave all of us inexperienced people some thought of what Japan is from a Japanese person's perspective.

Kiba_Inu Well, some people aren't all nice when they tell people stuff. At least she gave all of us inexperienced people some thought of what Japan is from a Japanese person's perspective. Well... I agree with part of what you say. I lived in Japan, I lived with Japanese people, and I still think that Aiko's manners were a little too aggressive. I also think that many Japanese people could disagree with her "perspective".. However, I am not Japanese... That's just my point of view.

I know what her personality if kind of like with the aggressniveness. I think that is because she hears alot of people saying stuff thats most likely myth and sounds stupid and stuff. And she may be the kind of person that doesn't like it when people say stupid stuff that anyone should know isn't true. I know I am like that especially whenever we start talking about my culture and people ask stupid questions or questions that make me feel offended.

You also have to consider that she's probably been "OMG, UR JPNESE? I LUV J00!"ed at like crazy for a good few years though. I think if that had happened to me, I'd want to kick those losers down a few notches with some aggressiveness.
However, I do agree, but I sort of have this passive, suck-it-down-just-to-keep-learning thing going on.

ha ha I noticed there was a personality similarity between Aiko and a character from a TV show which coincidently Aiko referred a number of us to. lol. Oh well. Anyway, yeah if I was in Aiko's situation, dealing with ignorant foreigners then I would be a pretty aggressive person. Actually now that I think about it. I am in Aiko's situation. Man so many people (mainly Americans) obsess over me being Australian. So yeah, that can get pretty irritating after a while.
