"From the ground up?" suggested Lucrezia, deciding to let the Charlot question drop. Surely that would be explained later.
However, she didn't know why they had to clean the trailer. After all, it had seemed clean enough to her and Wing Ting. She didn't see the problem. It was certainly cleaner than the staff bunks she had lived in as a child.
"I mean, let's start with sweeping the floor," she clarified. "I think I can probably find a broom somewhere."

“Alright, then.” Maxem smiled widely, glad to have a way to release any pent up anger and energy by sweeping and cleaning like a mad woman. Really, she would have been fine with just cleaning it later, but the prospect of really giving the room a good licking in retaliation seemed just too charming.
“Good luck with the broom, I think I have some rags in here for cleaning the barrels, so we should be fine in that department.”
It took quite a bit of emptying her bags for Maxem to find a small array of different coloured kerchiefs that she had been using as rags. She thumbed through a stack thoughtfully, trying to find one least charred, and stepped outside gracefully to give a quick look around for a bucket of some sort to hold water.
Letting out a little exhale, she grinned again and tried to get used to the surroundings of her trailer; she would need to know how to get to and from this place for a few months, at least.

"If I was a broom, where would I be?" Lucrezia sighed, frowning. She yanked the washroom door open and looked in, but saw no broom. She looked in the cabinet under the sink, but it was basically empty minus an old plastic bucket of some sort. Dissatisfied with that find, she went back into the main room and started looking under the beds. Maybe someone had left on there.
No, no, no, no - what's this?
Lucrezia paused and reached forward to grab the long pole under the cot. After pulling it out, it revealed itself as a rather sleek looking broom made of some sort of plastic.
"Uh, I found one," she called, holding it up.

“Oh, good!”
With a flash, the red head was back in the room. She looked at the broom as if it were quite a queer thing, but accepted that it did have bristles and it could do its job just fine.
“I suppose I’ll start in there…” Her finger waved over to the washroom as her other hand grabbed a kerchief, “And you can start out here. Just go around the beds, you don’t need to move them out. A quick sweep should be good, and then I’ll wipe them down. “ In order to cement this notion, she swirled the kerchief around on her hand before disappearing into the washroom.
From the actual bedroom of the trailer, a delighted gasp could be heard and then the sound of water running into a plastic bucket.
(Let's just skip the rest of the cleaning and say it happened, okay? )

One session of wild cleaning later, Lucrezia flopped down on her bed and inspected the floor. Admittedly, it looked much cleaner now. She wasn't sure how Wing Ting would react to her pile of blankets being placed back on the bed, but she didn't even know if the short girl actually liked sleeping on the floor, so it didn't matter.
She looked over at Marien from across the room and grinned. "This place cleans up nice."

Maxem sighed an exausted little sigh and sat down on her own bed. She smiled approvingly at the trailer and wondered how two girls' effort could really make that much of a difference.
"Yes, I think so. Now... I guess I don't really need to unpack, there doesn't seem to be much in the way of dressers. Oh!"
She quickly darted into her bag and pulled out to wire heads, and then reached back inside and removed blond and brunette wigs. Setting the wigs on the heads, Maxem did a quick brush through with her fingers and gingerly slid them under her bed for safe keeping.
"Do you know when the other girl will show up?"

"Je ne sais pas," sighed Lucrezia. "I think Wing Ting was out practicing. She'll come back. Eventually." She pursed her lips and looked worriedly out the window. "Unless she's gotten lost."
Hearing the comment about the dressers, Lucrezia pointed to one of the little nightstands next to Marien's bed. "It has drawers. Some of your things might fit in them. Otherwise you can just leave your bag under the bed, but I guess you'd figured that out."
She paused and cracked her knuckles, at a complete loss for what to say next. "Um... Welcome to the cirque du couer torve! Here's hoping that you fit in nicely!"

“I hope so too.” Maxem smiled at Lucrezia. She seemed plenty nice; a good girl, like the types next door. They could probably get along well if Maxem somehow managed to hold her tongue.
“So, this may be a bit bold. I know some people here don’t exactly like to talk about themselves… But what brings you here?”
Her voice was nonchalant and neutral; she could get by without prying, but it wouldn’t hurt to know her roommates history anyway. Deep down, though, she was curious; knowing about her roommates seemed like something direly important.
She had every intent to tell her own story, of course. Maxem had nothing to hide.

There was a long pause before Lucrezia replied. The question had brought up memories of Paolo's death, and she wasn't quite ready to talk about that with anyone, let alone her new room mate.
"I grew up in a circus," she said casually. "When I left there, I had other plans, but I kind of got drawn back."
She sighed, perhaps a little sadly. "Aerial silks are in my blood."
Well, no, she didn't know that for certain. Nor did she really care. It was close enough.

“Mmmm~” Maxem groaned. In fact, she even let out a bit of a pout. She was not a happy camper.
“You know, I’m starting to wonder if this entire circus has some mysterious secret that they don’t want to talk about but me. You are not the first person to respond with a sigh of dismay at my questions, you know.”
She moved her feet onto the bed, casually picking about her boot laces in an attempt to get comfortable. It was surprisingly easy while wearing Charlot’s clothes.
“But, ‘oh well’, you know? At least I don’t have painful memories.”

"It's in my experience that anyone who claims that is probably lying," replied Lucrezia, rolling over and giving Marien a long look. "Not that I'm accusing you or anything," she added, "That's just usually what happens."
Lucrezia knew painful memories. She could be practically considered an expert.
"Either that," she continued, "Or they're about to get a really harsh wake-up call. Not that either of those applies to you. I'm just saying."

Maxem let this thought sink in as she looked Lucrezia in the eyes. Clearly she was wise beyond her years.
“Well, I guess we’ll find out. Either I’ll be traumatized for life….. Or I’ll prove you wrong. Interesting choices there.”
The shoes were removed and she flopped onto her bed, looking up to the ceiling as she licked her lips; that was quite an interesting set of choices indeed.
“But you know, I have to say I’d prefer if I not get a wake-up call.”
There was a short pause as she stared at that ceiling; not seeing it, but rather looking at is as thoughts ran through her head.
“And on that note… I’m thinking I’ll break this bed in a little. You don’t mind, do you?”
Regardless of the answer, Maxem was already tearing open the bedcovers.
