If one wasn't looking for it, they'd probably miss it. Orion Anderson crouched under the cover of his Hybrid Liger's body, the sleek black feline's mane shielding the glowing cherry of his cigarette from the rain. He could hear the falling droplets of water pounding rhythmically on the Liger's back and sliding in tiny waterfalls to the soft ground. He'd lost his teammates in the downpour, but he wasn't altogether concerned about that. Besides, pushing onward in this weather would be a mistake, and Eli and Lauren would be fine without him. He'd made it to the base of the mountain pass, where he was now resting, and had no problem with waiting for the sky to clear before heading through. He tossed his cigarette butt out into the dark to be put out by the rain, and was preparing to make camp when he saw it: something moving out in the distance. Something big. "Maybe this'll be an interesting night after all..."

Kai had done enough flying as of late. The Geno Breaker Jet was content as well to utilize its legs in tandem with the thrusters. Kai's mind was wandering to Lala, wondering if she was doing alright on her own for the night. She was a pretty self-relient girl if she needed to be. The blonde/red haired man was thinking back to the days of his mother and father and living in a true familial unit, when his radar rang out in anunciation of the semi-visible zoid direclty in front of him. Shaking himself from his visions, the man chuckled once before losing his emotions to gain focus for the possible battle ahead. The GBJ came to a halt, the sheets of rain falling effortlessly off the dark armor.:: ::Kai reaching into his back pocket, to retrieve the carton of cigarettes. Extracting a white stick from the carton, he placed the cig in his mouth, his lighter going to work in a simple flick of his wrist. The cigarette was lit. Thowing the carton to some small expanse of space within the cockpit, Kai took a deep drag, exhaling through his nose, waiting to see what the solitary pilot would do, alongside his ominously black Liger.::

Rion peered through the rain at the large black shape, the distance between them closing steadily. Then, a few hundred feet away, the thing stopped, and the shape came into focus. Even with the rain and the distance, it was clear that it was a Zoid, and a fairly large one at that. Rion's blue eyes narrowed as he tried to discern what exactly the new Zoid was. It was bipedial, for sure, a saurian of some kind... That squat, forward build... the slope of the neck... it was a Geno type.
Instantly on guard, Rion hopped back up into the Hybrid Liger's cockpit and pulled on the interface gloves in preparation for what could be a battle. Or nothing. Or Eli.
He flipped a few switches on the console, opening radio communication with the pilot of the mystery-saurer.
"This is Orion Anderson, pilot of the Hybrid Liger. Geno type pilot, identify yourself."

::Taking a small puff of his cigarette, Kai shrugged. He wasn't all that impressed with the mans demeanor, but he had no reason to be impressed. Sighing, he took another small drag before responding the com-link.::
I'm Kai Jirachi, of the Geno Breaker Jet... I hoped that sufficed Mr. Anderson...
::His tone was at the least condescending if not almost mocking the man. Kai's attitude towards battle had changed rather greatly with this inherited power of the GBJ. He seemed invincible, nothing could stop him. Without a doubt, all this power was going to his head, even if it wasn't a severe case of egotism, he wasn't getting any more humble after each battle.::
Well Orion, I was hoping you'd entertain me and my Jet in a little midnight fun. A battle seems like fun right? Mode 0992 of course...
::A small grin began to grow upon his face. The sardonic side of Kai was begging to grow with his experiences in the cockpit. He felt almost certain of a victory. With a chuckle, the battle-ready Kai grasped the controls, cigarette in mouth in preperation for any pre-emptive maneuvers. The man sounded like a Republican, and Kai did not trust Republicans in the least bit.::

((Sorry this took forever. I haven't had much of a chance to get online lately.))
Rion pondered this for a moment. If he engaged the Geno Breaker Jet and damaged his Zoid, it might delay his catching up to his temmates. On the other hand, a battle would give him some much-needed experience in piloting the Hybrid Liger. The odds were stacked against him, sure, but...
"I've never been one to back down from a challenge," he declared, setting the interface helmet on his head and lowering the visor. "So I accept.... I'll start."
Rion thrust his gloved hands into the console, bringing the the cockpit to life. In seconds, the energy shield was extended and set back around the liger's neck. With no reason to hold back, Rion opened with the Liger's most powerful attack, the particle beam streaking out of the Liger's throat and heading straight for the GBJ.

::He was somewhat unprepared for the seemingly powerful attack. The Jet's armor held strong, as the GBJ skidded back from the particle beam. Water sprayed from the GBJ's sides as the zoid came to a stop. Kai blinked once before he began to cackle in the cockpit. Shaking his head he sighed.::
Eye for an eye.
::With that he prepped the Super Charged Particle Gun, the Geno Breaker Jet's mouth opening to reveal the large collection of super-charged particles. With a grin, Kai nodded seemingly as if to say okay to the zoid to attack. The heavy beam lit up the midnight arena, as it made its way for the Hybrid Liger.::
You talk the talk Mr. Anderson, but can you walk the walk?
