Kira frowned at her creation, and then shifted her gaze towards Al when he spoke. Her eyes fell to his hand when it began to glow, staring quietly while the flames shaped themselves on his palm. For a moment she said nothing, and then she slowly looked up to his face, frowning at first. "..I can't do that," she said with a slight pout, but then a faint smile tugged at the edges of her lips. "It looks cool though." In truth, she was quite impressed, but she wouldn't admit that so easily.

Al knew she would say that she was unable to do so, but he was just doing so as a demonstration. "Yeah... Thanks... Also if you concentrate your efforts, and train rigorously like I did with my father, then you should be able to do even greater things than just a single, simple rose..." Then he looked at it again with high scrutiny, then turned back to her. "Work on more, everytime you flaw this, you should do it again, until it is perfected. Once you can perfect it each time you form it, we'll move on to other things..." He told her and sat down on the couch, the pheonix long ago extinguished.

Kira blinked, and then slowly nodded her head, eyes back upon the ice rose she still held. It was lopsided and kinda of... ugly. She let out a sigh and closed her eyes, picturing a rose clearly in her mind. The one in her hand began shifting slightly, straightening a bit, but still wasn't quite perfect. She frowned, and twisted it lightly between her fingers before glancing back to Al. "You trained with your dad?" she asked suddenly.

Al nodded simply. "He shut me away for the better half of a year to train me... Turns out he followed that alchemy crap for a reason... I thought it was all smoke and mirrors, or devil worship.. But it runs out Alchemy works, and this fire control is a family trait passed on to the first born males of my family..." He told her, giving a quick overview of his family.

"...oh," Kira said simply, and then went back to frowning at her rose for a couple minutes in silence. But then she sighed and closed her eyes, letting it melt away into nothing. "I didn't even know I was weird-" she began, pausing to tug at her tail. "-until recently. My dad either didn't know, or didn't want to tell, and my mom... isn't here anymore." Her eyes opened again as she stared at the ground, chewing her bottom lip as she thought to herself.

"Wierd? Whaddya mean wierd? We are gifted with the abilities no one else has... How are we wierd?" Al asked curiously. "Also... What do you mean your mom isn't here anymore? Who was she? Do you have any idea?" He asked full of curiousity. He blew a few strands of his long black hair out of his face as he waited.

Kira blinked, and then stared at him silently for a moment. Was he being serious? She'd been teased so much because of that stupid tail. But she shrugged the thought away and instead glanced to the floor while she answered the questions. "She died," Kira said bluntly. "Ten years ago, without giving me a single hint about what I was or what would happen eventually." She paused, and then slowly tugged the locket from her neck, and tossed it towards Al. It held a picture of a woman when opened, who had long brown hair and icy blue eyes. She seemed perfectly normal though, no strange ears in sight. "There's a picture of her," she said. "She... I guess she was the panther demon. My dad's definitely human. Heh, shows how well I knew her..."

Al let a low whistle escape from between his puckered lips. "No wonder you're such a babe... This panther demon woman you talk of looks like a stone cold fox... Now I see where you get it from..." He told her with a wink, tossing the locket to her lightly. "So... You barely knew here... What a shame..." He said quietly.

'panther demon woman?' "She's my mom," Kira frowned, casting him a quick glance, her cheeks flushing the faintest pink at his words. Her hand came up almost automatically to catch the locket though, and she fastened it firmly around her neck again. She never would understand why she always wore it, even though she really didn't know the woman very well. "No," she mumbled. "I was seven when she died. I'd have thought I'd get to know her at least a little during that time." She closed her eyes for a second, as if recalling something. She'd actually been there at the time of her mother's death, and it'd seemed like she was trying to say something, but she hadn't managed to get it out. Kira shuddered suddenly and pushed the image out of her head, turning to look towards Al again.

"Your mom... I know that! Since when have guys not been attracted to a babe's mom?" Al asked with a good-natured smirk. "So then... What time was it again? I'm too bored to wanna stay in here, and if it's late, I don't wanna go to sleep..." He said while stretching. He then snapped out of boredom and watched the flame flicker above his finger.

Kira blinked, frowning slightly, but then dismissed it with a sigh. "Whatever," she mumbled quietly, adjusting the locket so it sat at the base of her neck, and then glanced around for a clock. Not seeing one at first, she simply reached a hand into her pocket instead and pulled out her iPod. "It's... kinda late," she pointed out. "Almost eleven, so..." She trailed off though, staring at the flame in silence.

Al sighed and blew the flame on his finger out. "I don't much care if it's late though... In my opinion, life is more fun in the dark..." He yawned out, craking his back, neck, and knuckles. "So... Whaddya say? Wanna have a night on the town?" He asked, looking her in the eyes, hoping she'd say yes.

Kira snapped out if the slight trance when he blew out the fire, and instantly shifted her attention to his face. For a moment she said nothing, but then she slowly nodded her head. "Sure... ok, I guess." Honestly, she wasn't generally allowed to go out that late at night, because her father was paranoid since her mother's death, but he wasn't here now, was he? She smirked faintly and got to her feet, smoothing her skirt quickly as she tugged her sweatshirt back on.

Al picked through his trunk of clothing and took out a pair of blue jeans, a biker style leather jacket, and a red shirt. "You may wanna change into something more comfortable and casual... We're not heading anywhere special..." He said simply, before heading into the bathroom and changing, the back of his hair pulled into a ponytail at the base of his neck.

Kira paused, and then nodded her head, rushing into the room. Honestly, she was very relieved to be changing out of the skirt. She shut the door behind her and walked over to her unpacked bags, pulling out a pair of black cargo pants and a gray shirt. It had a picture of Oscar the Grouch from Sesame Street on it, slightly faded, with the word "Grouchy" below him. She pulled her sweatshirt on again, zipping it up almost all the way, and then stepped back out into the main room, pulling on a pair of black converse.
