Well, some day i'm planning to get a DOC Zen
Maybe after Ritsuka..

and I remember seeing an owners DOC Zen's face
and it was...SHINY D:
like. horribly shiny.

and they said it had happened to another owners doll too.
and they themselves didn't know what to do.

I'm not sure how they fixed it,
but anyone who has a DOC-
has it ever happened to you?
Or have you heard of this before?

I'm just scared. :'D

I remember that doll. It was awful gonk

I have two DOCs and a DOT, and here's what I think. DOD has good batches of resin, and bad batches. Most are good batches, but there have been complaints.

I've personally never had a problem. But usually, when people do have a problem, DOD will fix it. If I were you, I'd order with decent confidence... but I would check the doll carefully on arrival and immediately report any defects.

The uncoated parts (read body) of my DOD T. Yen sometimes look a bit shiny, particularly if he hasn't had a bath in a while sweatdrop Cleaning him usualy gets rid of it, and I would think giving the resin a coat of MSC would fix any other shinyness.

(And I would think that if the whole head was really shiny, then it was probably something wierd in the coating. Like using MSC gloss rather than flat)

My Kyo has a shiney head.
The flash of my camera can be seen on his forhead in some of my pics.
His make-up is also peeling off for some reason. sweatdrop

My friend's doll, a DOC Bee-a, had a very nice matte body resin, but her hands were terribly shiney. Like... a plastic shiney. So when i gave her a body blush and manicure, i just sprayed her hands well with the MSC Flat, and poof, no more shiney!

It's easily fixed, and i wouldn't worry about it. I've ordered three dolls from Dream of Doll, and they have all turned up on my doorstep with wonderful resin.

Riki was a bit shiney, but i used a really fine sand paper and lightly sanded him, so he's not shiney anymore.

Shin came perfect. no shiney at all.

I've never heard of that happening. eek
Maybe if you get him a face-up it will go away.

In most cases it's because of body oil. Touching the doll a lot without washing them gives them a shiny sort of look. In most cases though, it can be rid of by just giving the doll a good bath and such ^^

I have 7 DoCs and none of them are shiny at all.. not even the one who's a yr and 5months? old (is addicted to making them move hand wise sweatdrop sweatdrop )

(I did my research on DOD resin since what I'm getting would be a Twing-Key.)

DOD has gotten a few complaints, but equally as many (if not more) people supporting them. They get good batches of resin most of the time, but some times there is a bad batch of resin. A few people have complained about chipping and face-ups peeling off as if they haven't been coated. I'd suggest getting a can of MSC (or an equivalent. Try to find something with UV protect to prevent doll yellowing while you're at it.) and just giving the doll a good coat when it arrives. Especially around the face if you're getting a face-up. This should eliminate the shiney and keep the face-up from peeling.

To avoid the bad batches of resin, avoid ordering during busy seasons or during Korea's "rainy season". Temperature actually affects the quality of the resin. This doesn't just go for DOD, though. So don't look at them as the only company with bad batches.

Also, temperature changes during shipping has been known to sometimes weaken resin. (So I've heard.) And sometimes temperature changes during the shipping can be unavoidable.

Don't stress too much over it. When you get them, spray them down with MSC and then take good care of them. ^_^ You know, no dropping them off your roof. XD

If you want to clean them normally they are dissassembled first, so I would make sure you're okay with unstringing and restringing your doll before you submerge it any kind of water. Another way to clean them (and this gets off stains from wigs and clothes - A problem which can be avoided by washing all wigs and clothes before putting them on your doll) is to take a Magic Eraser or the equivalent to it and -Lightly- wiping at the are you're worried about it. I say Lightly because if you rub too hard it can take off the MSC.
