Random conversation starter, I know Kurama may never even think of this, but, IF he told Shiori about demon world, what do you think would happen? Personally I think she would accept him anyway knowing she did raise him as her son, which he changed into over time.

snowlovesginta HoshiNoMiko I was rather disappointed that they left out the important part about her slashing her arms open to save Shuichi's life in the anime. That was such a touching moment in the manga and it kind of emphasized Kurama's desire to stay with her. I think it was probably the first time he had ever seen another human go to such lengths to protect someone. Where was that in the manga??????????!!!!!!!!!!!! eek Massively delaye response on my part, I am sorry. It happens in the third Graphic novel, when Yusuke finally meets Kurama. They're on the roof of the hospital and talking about her... it's a lot like the anime only the anime left out that nice little back story about Shiori injuring herself to save her son.

I am double posting by quoting this and I am sorry... but this is just such an interesting discussion topic I couldn't pass it up. Personally, I don't think Kurama would ever tell his mother of his origins, I think he would want to save her from that kind of pain. He knows he's been lying to her for years, I am not sure what kind of event would make him want to bring that lie out into the open. Now, if he did tell her however... well you know, that's a difficult thing to guage because we don't really see enough of her personality to know how she would react to such news. I would like to think, from what I have seen of her in the manga, that she would be happy, and pleased that her son was even still alive. I think she might naturally be very shocked first, but I could actually see her getting over that. Shiori seems to be the kind of person that is understanding and accepting of things, with a strong heart... at least that's what I see. I hate to refference fanfiction, but there was a really neat one I read a long time ago where Kurama did decide to tell his mother about himself. The writer made a very interesting plot twist out of the reaction. Kurama's mother began to cry and looked up at Youko with a smile and thanked him. She did this because in the fanfic apparently her son was dying in the womb and the doctors said she would never conceive him... aparently Youko fusing his soul with the boy saved him. I thought that was really neat actually and kind of cute... if not what some people would call corny.

ninja Yu Yu Hakusho is my favorite anime and I didn't even know about what she did in the manga. That should most definatly be put in the anime. It's too important to be left out. It defines her better. ninja

Well it's sadly too late for that now. Yu Yu Hakusho is LOOOONG over... but it would have been nice to see, I know I wanted it in there.

Wow, I never knew Shiori slashed her arms open. Of course, I don't follow the manga because I don't have the money to buy any of it. sad I wish they put her in more, too. I think she deserved it since she had quite a hand in changing who Kurama used to be.

Well I had always wished they had at least put that scene in. I mean it was tender and all hearing Kurama give that speech about what he's done to her and what he felt he owed here... but the imagery would have been so powerful, seeing her diving and slitting her arms open, just barely catching her baby boy's head. I mean if my heart leaped into my throat just reading that scene, I can only imagine what would have happened had I seen it in the anime.

I thought that was really neat actually and kind of cute... if not what some people would call corny. Eh, I always figured she didn't have the constitution for it. That she would probably get over it, but not without reacting so badly at first that their relationship would be irrevocably strained. I guess I figured he'd never tell her partly because of that, and partly because she doesn't need to be more of a target than she already is. The less she knows, the safer she is (which doesn't work for Keiko, but that's what she gets for being the girlfriend of the main character). And I thought it was actually canon that the fetus wouldn't have survived otherwise; someone I know swore to me the manga said so. o.o This is not so?

JesanaeTekani And I thought it was actually canon that the fetus wouldn't have survived otherwise; someone I know swore to me the manga said so. o.o This is not so? I am afraid your friend is sadly mistaken. I have volume 3 of Yu Yu Hakusho where it explains about Youko entering the embryo in Shiori's belly. Nowhere in that description does it say that Shuichi would have died with out Youko's soul. The soul would have fully developed, and the child would have been born. You see... Youko basically ate the underdeveloped soul of Shuichi, and replaced it with his own as he did not have the strength to overpower the fully formed soul of someone living and possess them.

Good to know. I'll have to keep that in mind if I ever get the urge to fanfic about that particular subject.

In refrence to the hypothetical question of who would be saved Maya or his mom, I dunno, I can't imagine a situation where that would even come up.
Also.... I keep waiting for someone to post that he'd "Let that b***h die" in refrence to Maya I like her though. She's the closest any of us can really relate to after all she's human, kinda spirtually aware but...fails at defending herself and in love with Kurama. With the option of the middle one I think most of us can relate to her.
ANYWAY.
His mom is 20 kinds of awesome. I mean, I kinda fan girl over her! I love her! heart SUCH A GOOD MOM. I mean, yeah, you can see many ways in life that a mom can fall apart and fail at being the best mom she can be and here is Shiori and she's all..." heart heart heart heart !!!"
I wish she got developed more as a individual character and not completly related to Kurama but this is a boy's manga so fat chance of that happening ever.
What exactly is her job? Secratary? I've seen some fanfiction that says she's a secratary but I don't remeber it being meantioned before in the cannon.
How come we have yet to see Kuwabara's mother in the manga? I know you see his dad near the end but where's his mom? SRSLY you see Yusuke's, Hiei's and Kurama's but...KUWABARA DOESNT GET A MOM WTF?

It's a good point, Shiori never really shows up often in the anime or the manga. If given the choice of saving his mother or his girlfriend, Kurama would without a doubt save his mother. Even if he regretted not being able to save his girlfriend, he would have regretted it even more so if he did'nt save his mother. That's how his human self is. Now if he were to have TOLD her about being Youko, she may be a bit shocked, but who knows? Maybe she has a few secrets she was afraid to tell her son?*shrugs*
