The only way to get people to come to your guild is if they want whats on the inside of it.

A crisp clear guild main page where people can learn about the guild and such needs to be revamped.

giveaways .. like door prizes or things attract many people.

if you give it.... they will come.

Well 1) we need to keep up with the threads. I haven't been here in a while so I can't talk. 2) I think that there needs to be more encouragement for discussion behind the books.

Ways to make G.R.O.U.P. just that much more fun:

• Cool new siggys (maybe animated)

• Member cards (could show number of posts, gold donated, favorite genre of books, etc.

• Holiday prize giveaways: guess the book/author and get a prize, prizes funded by donations to __ (the guild?)

• Maybe make a sub-forum so people can RP their favorite books

• Have stickies where people can recommend books for different genres

• Make several Book of the Month threads for those who do not like the main book of the month that was chosen.

Any of these suggestions useful? I could help fund some of these things.

What about putting a 'donation' onto the guild when someone joins that would give some money to help possibly if the guild is 'done up' a bit more and that?

Some more thoughts on this subject:

1) Active Mods = active members. Typically if you have active moderators, it means you'll have active members as well. This can be done by making active members moderators or stepping up yourselves. razz

2) Constant inflow of members. The best way to do this is make the guild look professional or at least interesting to join -- establish a cool front page and banner and advertise with neat banners in member's signatures.

I'll admit, I mostly just lurk here, but that's because I have almost no time to read now! (Although I do have Stephen Hawking's Briefer History of Time, and Universe in a Nutshell checked out).

I'd agree with a good hook for the splash page, and stickies of Recommended Reading, both fiction and non-fiction, although that might end up needing a subforum!

I saw a post for a user-run BotM, which is cool, but I think he should be accepting and voting for January (I didn't have time to post when I saw it. Gonna do that after this.)

Member cards would be fun. User Image

I think the most successful way of revitalizing the guild is to have a thread back outside in the forums. It's a form of advertisement, and a way to discuss things with the general public. :]

I would say remove inactive members, it sends a message.

Advertise on the forums it generally has an affect.

That's pretty much the most you can do other than hope.
