I'm not really sure what would cause that to happen. The image is large enough that if it were covering those pieces, it would cover more than just those pieces. I can't get a good idea of anything specific until I see the code in place and what it's doing.
You might double check for typos. Usually, that's the culprit in the case of weird things like this.
