tenshikitsune *giggle* Yes, Gatta, not good indeed. (Sorry...I know it might not be funny, I just have a weird sense of humour...) But I chucked whatever he was out- Shot stupid amounts of Holy Light at him and then threw up the strongest sheilds I could summon. I meant that as vague humor. But you DID do the best possible thing... Or if not, something close to it.

So, he said the pray without a wince or stumble. Now, does that sound like ol' Lucy? I think not. He longs so much for the Holy presence that that pray definately would have sent him over the edge. He has never uttered those words, and I don't ever see him uttering them. This leaves only one question. Who or what was it?
Do you have anything more you might have left out. Also, and I need you to be completely honest, "Did it feel inherently evil?" ('I don't know' and 'I am not sure' are acceptible answer.)

('I don't know' and 'I am not sure' are acceptible answer.) See, at first I was in full agreement with you, but I didn't know what to think so I jumped to the only Fallen I knew of who could both fool me and get past my sheilds... I've fought big, bad ugly things before and they were nothing like this one. Hmm...Let's see- I was at work, on my way home and I went into my garden to talk with my guardian. I found him, but I'm not sure where as I'm blind, but from what I could pick up it was a sort of a little room with wood-panels- not unlike the walls in my house- and there was a dark man sitting on the stone floor in front of the fireplace. Now again, I'm blind so all I could see was a shadowy figure of roughly the same shape and size as my guardian. I ran to him and gave him a hug, like I always do and he hugged me back, good and tight just like my guardian would. I was in his lap- I know that much for sure it was pretending to be a 'he'- and I put my head down on his chest, still talking about silly things, but he felt smaller than my guardian and he didn't smell the same. Plus his shirt wasn't soft, it was all rough and jeans-like instead of well-worn cotton. I thought it was me and we kept talking, but the queer feeling didn't go away and he started to ask deeper questions, which I don't remember. I frowned, jumped up and squinted hard to try and see- normally I put my hands out and feel their face, but I didn't with him. I didn't want to. I asked who he was and he just smiled at me, but the smile felt wrong somehow. I asked again, he tried to tell me he was my guardian but I yelled at him that I knew what was going on and tell me the truth or get out of my garden. He tried to tell me again that he was my guardian, it was alright, he tried to get back to the other conversation with the question I've forgotten, but I wasn't buying it anymore and I threw up every self-defense sheild I knew over myself. I couldn't cover my garden because he wouldn't leave and I didn't want him trapped in my space. I demanded he say the 'Our Father' and he did. He smiled at me again, like a snake as cliche as that is, and I realized his face had changed. He looked like the man from that new movie 'The Illusionist' (the main guy), minus the coat. He felt so sure of himself, so calm but so full of malice. I'm not sure about 'inherantly evil' - like I said, you have to be pretty damned skilled at subterfuge to get past my shields, not to mention my guardian, which are all there for the sole purpose of keeping bad things out- but he was good enough so that he didn't show up on any of my defenses and my guardian didn't try and stop him. He felt like those car salesmen you see in really old movies; smooth, nice-looking but you know he only wants you for what you can offer. He felt so wrong... I still can't place it, but it wasn't pure evil- I would have sensed that, I think. Plus he said the Lord's prayer flawlessly... Another spirit or angel would have felt more reassuring, wouldn't it? I don't know... All I know is even re-telling it scares me slightly. I was too fired up at the time to be scared, but when I think that if I hadn't had enough power to throw him out...*wince*

So, I'm digging this old thread up, because hey guess what?
The guy came back... That is, I think he did. My guardian had to leave me for a bit (buisness and ineffabiliy and all), so I was on my own for awhile. In that while, about fifteen random things talked to me and three claimed they were 'helping babysit' me. Fourteen of the fifteen things were friendly though, so no worries. (Some of them were kids- I love kids! ^.^)
One of those guys was the scary Not-Morningstar-But-Looked-Like-Him thing. He tried to get me to believe he was going to keep me safe, but I didn't recognize him or his energy and now I could see him, I saw the (weak) veil of darkness around his general persona.
What the h-e-double-toothpicks IS this thing? And how do I keep him out of my garden for good? Anyone, anything...

Uh... Just going out on a limb here, but perhaps he is simply a dark-by-nature spirit and the way to keep him out would be to shield your garden with specific instructions (like with psi-balls) to keep him OUT.

I've already got sheilds though- I charged them so that only friendly things can get inside and even if they get past those, I have a few other fail-safes in place. This guy just walked right past all of them! And my sheilds aren't kid-sheilds- they're made of Holy Light and fire and the Void... It's like he's made of smoke or something, straight through without so much as a rustle in my energy...
You know, I've just thought of something... What if he really is friendly, but looks and feels creepy to me because I'm being biased? What sort of good things could do that, I wonder...

Well, between a bias and some people mean so well but... well, they just have a negative feel no matter how good they actually are. So it could, in fact, be a nice spirit who just comes across wrong in your opinion.

mmmmm....... this is kinda out of my league..... I'm kinda "grounded" with my abilities, though I have made excellent work of creating psychic defenses rolleyes , so I suggest just going with what your heart is telling you (cheesey but true! cheese_whine )

This seems to have gotten a little confusing... The Devil certainly does exist. Whether or not his name is or was Lucifer is open to debate. (I'm sure that he's flattered that you debated it, though. He loves when people talk about him. It strokes his oversized ego.)
However, he is evil. No questions there. He hates us, for many reasons. He hates the mere sight of us. And, most of all, he hates to see us happy. That's the worst for him. We're little images of God. To see us happy is like seeing God happy. He hates that. He resents God, after all. The last thing he wants is to see God happy. So, He uses his smart, previously angelic mind to work in order to eliminate what he doesn't like. He puts all his demon friends to work at destroying our happiness. They can use any methods they want (and spiritually can), so long as we're not happy or with God by the end of their efforts.
By the way, it sounds like that thing you saw was him. I mean, it definitely sounds like the SOB... I should know, he was with me for a while. I mean, he brainwashed me into thinking that God hated me and I belonged to him... Him and his condescending smooth-talking ways... If it wasn't him, it was probably one of his minions impersonating him. They know him well enough to pull off a convincing impersonation, don't they?

See that was the queer thing, like I said earlier- Whatever it was knew how to a) act like my guardian (which is DAMNED hard to do...) and b) PRAY without stumbling or faltering... He's not been back since the last time I chucked him out though, I think he's either given up and gone home or is biding his time- either way, I'll be ready for him.

Well, if it's the Devil himself, he's probably just hanging out until he can execute phase two. If it's a minion of his, he probably went back home to regroup or send someone else after you. They never really give up, though. The destruction of every human soul is a cause too near and dear to their Boss's heart.
