I completely agree with it being Zack and Aeris.

*SPOILER ALER*

For anyone who has played Crisis Core, it makes it look like Cloud was just a replacement for Zack. The meet in a similar fashion, and they have the same kinds of jobs. Heck, they even hint at it in the original game as well.
