Irish Trad!
Well, me name is Mick McGuire...!
So here's a health to the company, and one to my lass!
  Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral, too-ra-loo-ra-li, too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral, Hush, now don't you cry!
Eh... Does Flogging Molly count as trad?
Urh... Hit me baby one more time!
That's me lucky charms, they're magically delicious?

Just wondering who here all likes Irish Trad? I cannot tell you how obsessed I have become with it over the years, especially after my move to the states (for some odd, odd reason).

Aaannnddd... Do you play?

I play the penny whistle and the bodhrán, both mediocrely... And I sing a bit.

Just interested. biggrin

Eh I play the tin whistle, well I used ta, till like 6th class which was like, 5 years ago. I can stil play it thoughm not as good as I used ta, I was class at it, we all were, we were made play in in primary school like every week. The Spanish Lady I think that was what the song was called, oh it was so class. I still remeber the song of it, there were a load more aswell. What a laugh though. I kinda play the Bodhrán aswell, well when I say play I mean bang it a couple of times along with hundreds of other people at a match. Then shouting something after it like Munster or something, it depends on what match I'm at. It's all good though.

Im currently Learning the Tin Whistle and I want to pick up the Irish Flute but I dont have anywhere near enough money to pick one up. Im ok at the whistle I just need more practice ^_^. But I love Traditional its incredibly relaxing plus its part of my families history.

I can play the flute. Once upon a time I could play the recorder, but I'm not sure if I still can...somewhere I have a bamboo, 4 holed flute thing that I can sorta toot out random notes on...I know the fingerings etc for the Irish Jig on the mandolin, but I don't think I'll ever get it anywhere near up to speed...I can pluck out some tunes on my tiny child's version of a plucked dulcemer, and I own a guitar...

...but I'm probably best at singing by a long shot...even if the words arn't in english...I'm pretty good at mimicking pronunciations of words once I've heard them a few times, so I can sing songs and not have any clue what I'm saying!

by the way, PirateEire, I love the pictures in your sig about A Modest Proposal!

I can play a few tunes on the tin whistle and I've been teaching myself the bodhrán for about a month. I'm not very good, if any of you want to see me play, here's a video of me accompanying a bunch of tunes called Cooley's Set. Bear in mind that the bodhrán I was using was crap and made far too harsh a noise sweatdrop
